The JL Audio DSP could use a video tutorial just as you’ve done on the Audio Control RTA. Different brands emphasize different aspects and their approaches vary somewhat. Your videos demystify what others think are secret code. Mark, your organizational skills are on display. The cart shows a common sense approach and use of products and features which make the tuning portion of the build a whole lot easier. Stay safe my mates!😊👍🏻😷

Under the bench you can rig a: car battary, smart charger and a 230V inverter, (or 110V as ypu have)
    .
Just plug the charger in over night and the battery will suport the rig "unplugged" for a period, and also save your data if the power goes out.
Sorry for poor spelling I'm from sweden, thank you for your work, I've learnd so much of you, keep up

Good idea! Definitely would be nice to incorporate some testing ability to "bench test" gear as well. This exists in another area of my shop right now but maybe it could be integrated.

That’s a great idea. They do make backup power supply’s
One side is just hot power and the other side of the strip is on the backup. And when the battery starts getting low it beeps so you have a few minutes to get it plugged in

@@CarAudioFabrication Seems these days a DSP is becoming mandatory in new vehicles, I have an AC DSP in my Mustang and SIlverado but am curious about the JL.

I agree with Mark a video series of the jl max tun would be great maybe one video to do an overview then on each aspect of the tool explain how each feature works and use your camera and show us what’s actually happening. And how you are getting the results… every time you introduce a new tool or a better version of one it would be awesome to just mention what the brand is and where you can get it
For example that awesome rivet tool your step up bit and where to get the Rivet. Hole chart so we know what size we need based on our need.

Doesn’t the JL Audio and AudioControl boxes just tie you into using their DSP products? Surely using a generic RTA would be better? How do you plan on listening and tuning at the same time if your laptop is on the cart outside the car?

Can I recommend trying out Windows key, ctrl, and "d". This gives you another desktop to work with. To switch between them, you press windows, ctrl, and the arrow keys. to get rid of them, you can click on the task view -> just to the right of Cortana or search. Alternate way to get rid of the multiple desktops, is by going to the one you want to get rid of and pushing Windows key, ctrl, and f4.

Nice setup tho ...I was troubleshooting a intermediate problem on pioneer deck where was losing signal. U was sure it was deck or rca cable. Long story ended up cutting up a rca cable to get a reading while hooked up to amp. So I'm working on building a small test box that I can plug in line and have test points

  • @AcidDeathRitual
    @AcidDeathRitual Před 2 lety

I really like this and have had similar thoughts, but for an install cart. So vice and solder station on top instead. I've tried the old bag/hand tool box deal, but just default to my 36" box that I use for general auto work, cuz work surfaces are handy in that situation and I don't have keep running back to the bench.
If you wanted to clear up the work surface more, could go with something like an Intel Nuc pc with one of those Logitech keyboard/trackpad combos and then an ultra wide monitor on a longer arm for when your in the car.
I would also swap that power strip with one that has power conditioning; Furman makes one.
Also Mark, in your case, adding a Ram ball mount or screw base might be convenient for a camera or mic boom.

I love this cart! Smart thinking on having everything at arms reach. I like that. I do have a quick question if that's ok, does it really matter if you mount a tweeter in the a pillar or sail panel on a single cab pick up? I figure as long as they both aim the same direction (not at your face i would say), then it should just be personal preference, right? Or is there a difference in a small cab? Thanks! :)

Do you know if the factory burmester amps in the MB have DSP'S that can be tinkered with? I want to swap out a couple speakers (not quite ready to bite off the whole upgrade of 11 mids & highs locations) until I get ready to do the whole shabang and use the factory amp in the interim. Might need a consult after the new year.
