This video explains different types of alarms which are used in an emergency situation onboard ship such as - General emergency alarm, Fire Alarm, Man Overboard alarm, Abandon ship alarm, CO2 Alarm etc.
Emergency signals or alarms on a ship are installed all over the vessel’s various systems and machinery to notify the crew about a dangerous situation that can arise due to different types of emergencies on board ship.
Emergency alarms are of audible as well as visual type to ensure that a person can at least listen to the audible alarm when working in an area where seeing a visual alarm is not possible and vice versa.
It is a standard practice in the international maritime industry to have an emergency alarm on the ship for a particular warning which is similar for all seagoing vessels, no matter in which seas they are sailing or to which company they belong to.
Working in the engine room during an emergency with THAT on full blast must feel simply delightful
Which alarm you are talking abotut?
@@marineinsight the one in the engine room. Pretty sure my ears would just implode and I wouldn't even manage to abandon ship with this demonic cacophony
@@tertiaritus lol that alarm reminds me everytime I traveled with a ship in Greece. When the doors were being lowered that alarm was blasting along with a very nasty smell
@@tertiaritus i think they wear ear protectors, because of those engines... it is less costly than a big ear protector around the machines...
On my first ship , we couldn’t even hear the alarms in engine room…chief used to call us individually using the engineers call button
The navigation alarm sounds like every McDonald's ever
😂That's not what a deck officer will think
It usually sounds when you’re within your safety contour (e.g if you don’t change course you’ll run aground)
As cabin crew, I had the lovely job of going straight to the bridge during an emergency and grabbing the distress beacons and an abandon ship kit, then waiting to leave with the Captain after all pax were confirmed off. The vessel in question was an aluminium roll on roll off catamaran. They’re built for speed and fast car loading at the expense of being terribly buoyant when damaged.
Thank you for the comment
Sounds *fun*
Did that happen very often?
For me it was the sound of emergency drill. For others it was for real. For some it was their last.
👍🏻
3:00 WHAT ON EARTH creates this sound?
🤣Sorry for the high pitch volume...however, on ship you can experience the same sound.
Diddy Kong fell into the engine
@@AlliroG98 😅
Multiple different alarm sirens, I can actually recognise one of the ones in the background as the same one my school has

Don’t forget the fall alarm. Found in ships riding the largest waves will trigger these fall alarms
Thank you
3:02 to end of video headphone users, turn your volume down!
MY DAMN EARS!
When you have your headphones on full..
The engine alarm scares me to death. Also the navigation alarm sounds like a fire alarm.
Thank you for this video
the best video so far on this topic many thanx
Thank you Itachi. Do share the video and spread the knowledge.
The most terrifying sound of all: ABANDON SHIP!!! 😱
Same as the situation - It is terrifying
Thank you for the video! Was very interested on how the alarms worked and this was very informative
Glad you enjoyed it! Please do share and support
One time, the ship captain told us that there will be a test abandon ship alarm for the training of the crew on board, we didnt have to do anything. But the overhead speakers were SO quiet, we could hear if there will be a second one. The second siren blasted and we freaked out 😂
Be Prepared for Everything 😅
oh my goodness !
@maoh my goodness !
Thank you for this video! Every time my sibling misbehave I start playing this as loud as I can make it!
😅
Thank you so much for sharing :)
headphones and radios ? ok! thanks !
The engine room alarm must destroy ear drums regularly
The engines do that for them they need ear protection
Interesting I like the edit too.
👍🏻
Rip headphone users
Thanks sir
3:02 that is creapy👻
In sinking into the couch in a dark room thinking if someone will appear and grab me
Isn’t there an alarm for “brace for heavy roll”?
Nop ...it is all verbal orders :)
Thanks for information
Glad you liked it 👍🏻
Thanks
Glad you liked the video. Please do share and spread the word.
Reminded me why I left the industry 😂
Every alarm brings back some memories :P
Letter O in morse code doesn't means M.O.B.
The (Yellow/Red) flag O means "man overboard".
One long sound blast Is the alarm for M.O.B in our marine regulation
Some of these alarms would have been very useful for the Boat Fails video series.
there has been a lifeboat alarm going off for like 4 hours now 💀
🧐
Did you die?
@@GeorgeBPryor yes
Imagine dying to this sound -
becoming the last thing you hear and it becoming quieter and and low pitched as you reach death
That's a scary thought 😰
oh my goodness !
@3:21 that's how it sounds on a cruise liner's bridge all the time... right?
The general alarm isnt that short
Ture. In the video it is showed for information purpose only.
Can I get hand-driven rattle sound effects used on the old ships?
Tq sir
Most welcome 👍
So anyway i continues blasting
💥📢
What alarm is in case of oil spill ? piracy attack ?
If the oil spill is inside the ship, the bilge alarm will come up. On spotting pirate attack, general alarm is sound along with PA alert, if feasible.
Can i use this sound in my video? I will credit you
Lmao I shouldn't be laughing but I can hear my school fire alarm in the background of the engine alarm

Can I used this sounds for my video on youtube? i will credits the marine insight for using this sound thank you
And i want to know that
do you have a navigation alarm sound?
It varies, but yes it is there
3:02 is so creepy 😳
We apologize for the unregulated volume. We have given a warning in the description to avoid people creeping out later :P
Why are co2 alarms sound like the most serious alarm?
River watcher it’s more of a cd siren
😁
Because , if someone is inside the space where CO2 is released to fight fire, he/she will die of oxygen deficiency
oh my goodness! fire fire5g oh my goodness !
Thank it's really interesting, but I have a question about if exist an alarm for a imminent collision
There will be an alarm in the bridge navigation panel.
Wait isn't that 5 blasts of the ships horn/whistle, along with "echo echo echo" in some cases..?
The edit is... interesting.
👍🏻
oh my goodness!
Where Did U Get The Sound Of Bell
From ships :)
funny i used to be a SEA SCOUT ! PROUDLY NS

Navigation alarm went off cause the ship was moving backwards
WHAT IS THAT FIRST ALARM
wheres missile incoming alarm (used by battelships)
Women and Children first!
Aye Aye captain.
3:01 was blatant ear rape lol. Viewer warming don't wear earphones lol
Disclaimer / Warning in the description
The ship horn in f! It’s from ship horn at truck
RIP headphone users!
earrape
The navigation alarm sounds like a fire panel has silent the fire alarm
Incredibly poorly made, almost every sound is overdriving and clipping. The CO2 alarm sounds like an air raid even though it's more of a constant whine (it doesn't need time to spool up because it's so small or it's electric, either or).
Not a single sound, sounds like it would in real life.
What a load of rubbish
Do elaborate 🤔
