Forging a Long Hunter

- This knife is based on a design that was prominent from the 1700s to the mid 1800s. It was carried by the people who would go out in hunting parties, known as "long hunters", and was used as a fighting knife. The knives were originally made by colonial blacksmiths as opposed to being imported from places such as Sheffield, England.
The knife is composed of Sitka Blacktail deer antler for the grip, a small glass arrowhead knapped from blue beach glass set into the pommel, wrought iron guard made from the staple of a 120 year old logging boomstick, copper spacer is buswork from a switchboard off of the USCGC Acushnet which served during WWII (under the name USS Shackle) as a rescue and salvage ship in the Pacific Theater, leaf spring blade from an old boat trailer.

Cool video! I would like to see an overview of your crucible, an interesting design!
Nice build. I would love to see a video on your forge. Looks very similar to what I've got in mind. Or a video shop tour if you're feeling generous.
Without words, wonderful work, use olive oil and you will see an excellent tempering, it already is but it will be even greater, blessings 👍
You need to get the tour guides from the cruise ships to stop by your place.
