  • Making an RPG is a pretty big task, even bigger when alone... So what is my plan to finish development on my indie rpg, Project Seaborn? I'll talk about that in this indie devlog.

    I think it'd be really funny if you added a gun called the American dream that shoots bald eagles😂

    The game looks so crisp and crunchy, but I'd love to see a lot more variety in the environment!

    I feel like the bow and sword blend together a bit with how they deal damage, shooting a straight projectile. It would be cool if the swords slice was maybe shorter but grew and did more damage as it went out or had a risk and reward thing where you do more damage if you hit the enemy with the actual sword. But just a thought, i still love this game and i cant wait to see more! Keep it up!

    Everything is looking pretty nice so far. Awesome work.
    Although, might I recommend the arrow showing on the bow in its idle sprite though? The bow looks a bit naked and unimpressive as it stands.

    Game looks awesome!
    I have a really stupid nitpick tho, the job called ninja is all about crowd control and managment, but ninjas were assassins who targeted specific individual (typically).
    Obviously I recognize this is silly to focus on, but maybe a different name would fit the class better.

    About the decoy, imo it would be cool if the ability allowed you to turn a selected enemy into a decoy + the selected enemy would be slowed for the duration of the effect. Not sure if that would be balanced but seems fun.

    I feel we are all on the same boat here. I'm sure most of us here have a dream game to build. I myself handle the coding and story but I got some friends that help out with concepts, art, and especially music and sound effects. But some of what they ask for I'm like bruh I hope I can code this. I really enjoy your devlogs and hope you have succession. I hope to get there too someday.

    The plan state seems like something that could use some brain storming yea. My first thought that comes to mind about it is that I'd prefer the plan state to be something that you're forced into by the game every now and then rather than you being able to open it every x amount of time. I think it would serve best as breather after an intense battle.
    For example there could be a wave system in every encounter that would transition to the next wave after you kill a certain amount of enemies after which you go to plan state. Also it'd be cool if every wave got progressively more difficult. Also maybe there could be an ability that you could activate mid battle to enter plan state and it costs x amount of focus. I think that'd be fun, especially if you're getting your ass kicked and need to get some buffs or healing.

    I have some ideas on what could give you focus on the battle phase,
    1. Dashing through projectiles and enemies.
    2. Not recieving damage for a long period of time, maybe you could use a formula that looks something like that, to make so every 10 seconds without taking damage you recieve +1 extra focus:
    Bonus focus = T ÷ 240 where T represents time (24 frames per second)

    I think it might be nice to resin the mouse cursor at least while in combat mode. Maybe into a pixely target plus sign.

      Yeah, I might try out a custom cursor, I always forget about them when making games, but they sometimes really help tie it all together

    for guns it probably would be nice for the gun to auto reloaded with no animation every like 2 seconds so if I shoot a lot but not enough to reload I more then likely wont shoot once and reload immediately
