- A virtuosic, award-winning guitarist with a gift for insightful songwriting, Molly Tuttle established herself as a new artist to watch with her boundary-breaking debut album, WHEN YOU’RE READY. What followed were dates at Telluride, Newport Folk Fest, an appearance on CBS Saturday Morning, and an enthusiastic reception both by critics and her fellow musicians.
In March 2020, the Nashville-based artist experienced the devastating tornado that tore through much of East Nashville, followed by the global pandemic. Tuttle, who grew up in California and has toured as a solo artist for years, suddenly found herself - along with the rest of the musician community - sheltering at home. She found solace in revisiting favorite songs from throughout her life in an attempt to “remind myself why I love music.” She conceptualized an idea for a record with renowned LA producer Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, Andrew Bird) to be recorded over 2,000 miles apart.

I've played guitar since the late 60's. My favorite guitar players were John Hurt, Doc & Merle Watson... and now Molly Tuttle. She is a wonder.

Molly's playing is so perfectly balanced. I'm sure she has issue with her playing, but from my perspective no part is over emphasized or underplayed. From the ability to nail the perfect tempo, to her stunningly complex dynamics. Dynamics on a Micheal Hedges level, or beyond. Amazing.

Alopecia universalist, or some such. Diagnosed at age three. By four, she had lost all of her hair. Makes life a little tougher. Good to see her perform with a wig.

I used to like her until I found out that she's got no hair.

Molly suffers a rare autoimmune disease, Alopecia, and within that, even more rare Alopecia universalis. She lost her hair when she was about four years old.

Some of the vocal intonation is slightly off and the energy is low to me which is uncomfortable to witness.
This performance has a night at an open mic vibe.

In fact, it affects as many as 6.8 million people in the U.S. with a lifetime risk of 2.1%. Molly is beautiful, and I'm happy to see her in her "reality", as opposed to wearing a wig.
"Creepy" is a feeling,....and I'm sorry you are feeling it.
Have friends or family ever told you "sometimes we have impulses and thoughts that come into our head, but those aren't always meant to be shared"? Start looking for opportunities to take that advice.
How could such a statement be useful to anyone in anyway?
