Yes, simplicity, and nothing wrong with a good quartz movement. All those mechanical watches need servicing which adds up.

I'm looking(researching) for a a whole new wrist watch for the next decade to come.
This model has a nice appearance.Was thinking about getting the G Shock 1000,has only 4 time numbers shown.What feature I really like about these watches are the back light button to see the time in darkness.Have anyone watch a movie at a theatre and curious to know the time but don't want to turn on your cell/smart phone screen,the light will attract other audience watching the movie.

Have to agree. First thing I look for on a g shock now is Tough Solar. I have two GX56s, one with the red accents and one a blacked out version and both still chugging away on their original batteries despite getting constant use
Awesome video the design of the watch is super. I loved it.
100% agree - my perfect G-Shock would be something like the GBA-800 + Timex Indiglo + Sapphire glass + solar/atomic. Casio makes so many models that are *almost* there, but they always seem to lack a couple things that could just knock it out of the park. (Of course then I would never have to upgrade, so maybe that's their plan. :)
They want people to buy the many models they put out. Hence there is no definitive G-Shock.
Had mine (GSG) for nearly a year and has not let me down. I original bought it for work, but i find it so comfy and functional i just want to wear it 24/7, its easy to read at any angle and oh so light, i do love my automatic watches but this is a Good looking, light, comfy wearing watch, like i said you Dont want to take it off.

I really like this g-shock... I don't care that was not have the abc sencor... I have my protrek for that! The most imporant feature for me is the solar charging and the atomic sync... I like it a lot...

Costco has the GSG version for $170US. Was tempted, but I think the watch really needs the atomic feature paired with solar for a minimum to be considered for me.

I like your videos, very calm and instructive and the stuff you say makes sense. I was eyeballing some mud shocks. Which would you prefer g9300(135eur) or this gwg100 (225 eur)? I do have square solar atomic so I can always set my watches right. I am just alittle hesitant about rolling in the mud with a 600 euro watch (gwg1000) and find 225 quite a lot to bang around as well.
Get the one you are comfortable paying for, as it makes no sense buying something you'll be scared to wear
Back again after 2 years of owning this Fantastic (I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE IT OFF) watch, A little update, it has gained APPXROX 10 seconds after setting the time when i first set it up, i have only changed to and from daylight savings. How good is that..... I love my auto watches (Steinhart OVM Mk1, Deep Blue Depthmaster Mk ll) but tis watch is so easy to read and so comfy you really dont want to take it off.. p.s. and it looks cool on ya wrist.....

Hay mate can you help me i got the module GSG100 black and green its the same sort as your one but could not work out why the atomic does not work so i google it apparently it does not have the atomic feature
I want this style alot but at least with twin sensors. The mudmasters with twin sensors do not have this analog look i like. I bought but had to return feeling lack of sensors.
Good review! Nice looking watch, though I'm not convinced about the price tag.
I ended up buying the Rangeman as the best have-it-all watch, since I was budget-limited. No regrets :) The barometer is actually my most used function so the twin-sensor watches are irrelevant.
It's a shame I cannot go analog-digital without spending a LOT more for the GWG, but I wanted to mention if anyone is wondering - there's always the option of the PRW-6x00 or PRG-6x0. Pro-treks instead of gshocks but same functionality, nice looks and far cheaper. I may get one in the future.
P.S. your extremely detailed review and function vids convinced me to buy the Rangeman. Keep it up, your voice and how you handle watches are both superior to many other channels.
Any chance you can do a GWG-1000 review for the heck of it? Not buying it any time soon, but I do love looking at it from time to time :)

GSG is not available where I live at, but it's basically the GWG-100 without the radio controlled time keeping for markets that are outside of the range of yhe towers

I had to replace my previous, solar powered CASIO watch and decided to go with a G-Schock. Additional requirements were Solar, Ana-Digi, Arabic numerals. After I saw the GG-1000 1A, everything else looked dull and boring, including the GWG-1000 (besides being more expensive and larger/heavier). I bought it, even without the Solar function. My plan: Use the watch as normal and when the time comes to replace the batteries, I won't. We know that they will last more than the estimated two years. At that time, hopefully, there will be a similar, solar powered, GG-1000 XX. This is a step in the right direction. I still like the GG 1000 1A better, though.
There is the GWG100, that's one hundred, not GWG1000.
I did a review of that, it has the same case as the GG1000 but instead of twin sensor, it is solar atomic

Great review. But, what is the best angle of vision for LCD? About 75º? If you look at the clock completely perpendicular the digits are not sharp. Even the icons into the square are not aligned to the grid.
It basically uses a modified module from the AWG-M100/GAW-100.
I ended up getting the radioless version. I wanted the atomic time keeping but I got the gsg for 140 USD so it was a no brainer. My only knock is that I wish it had a seconds hand I see casio starting to sell watches without second hand and I wish they wouldn't. Some traditions shouldn't be messed with.

Is it possible to by a metal strap to replace a standard rubber strap for a g-shock? I have the rescue, I love it, just hate the rubber strap but don't want one of them Nato things either. I like metal bracelets, a black one would be awesome.
There are g shock bracelets but not for this model so I doubt it would fit
I recently bought the gg b100, and I love the step counter, but I'm thinking in the change of batteries every two years and maybe I will change it.

Only the high end GravityMaster as well as the MT-G and MR-G are Triple G resist.

I live in England and yesterday the clocks went back. When I woke up my watch was 1 hour ahead. Also I noticed I no longer have an RCVD icon. I wasn't sure what to do so I switched off DST manually and then the time was corrected.
Was I supposed to have done this or should it have done it automatically? I'm tempted to try sync it tonight to see if I get the RCVD. Any advice? Thanks
If your time zone is anything but GMT and you have the DST set to AUTO the watch will correct itself without your intervention

No, just set LONDON for your home city, NOT GMT as GMT as a time zone doesn't use DST, while London does

The GG-1000 basically uses the module from the GA-1000 so they won't be making any additions to it and add to development costs.

I got a bit confused by the thing you mentioned about the battery change … let's say I make the purchase of the GG1000 from an Authorised Dealer, 100% legit ... The watch still comes with Casio-warranty so personally when it comes to battery-change I would most certainly take it to a Casio-store like we have here at Carnaby street in London ... and if they screwed up the process and the watched later gets damaged I can always go back and claim whatever could be claimed, right? So I don't see why that could be that big of a problem. For instance, I also have a Tissot, purchased at an official Tissot store. They do battery changes and do give additional 2 year-warranty after each and every battery change ...
Casio watches need to have the hands realigned after every battery change as they are a bit "smarter" than your average analog watch. I am sure an authorized Casio service will do it for you, but most people use local watch shops to get their battery replaced and most of those places don't know how to realign the hands. Also, many people, me included, change batteries themselves, the alignment part of the tutorial is for them. You personally don't find it useful but you would be surprised how many people think their watches are broken after a battery change
So what is better gsg100 or gwg100 and why?
If you live within the tower coverage, the GWG is better as you get self adjusting technology
This watch seems to be impossible to find for sale except one place that's in Japan (maybe China) so I'm a little skeptical...I can not find that the place is an authorized retailer. I want this watch so much!

You have both reviews on my channel.
GG1000 is a regular battery operated model with twin sensor technology, having compass and thermometer, while the GWG100 is self charging and self adjusting as it is solar atomic, but lacks the sensors, so it doesn't have compass nor thermometer.

Are there any real vs. fake videos for this watch?? Or can you make it? I see many for the GWG1000 but none for this one.
I explain in the video how to recognize an older generation fake, but sadly the new generation has solved everything I mention so it has become even tougher to figure one out.

The illumination on this one is nice. Having LCD backlights is a big improvement over the GG-1000, which has no LCD illumination at all.
It's too bad so many Casio ana-digis have a short stopwatch, a short countdown timer or both (in the case of the GWG-100). A full 24 hours on each would be preferred.
I wish the GWG-100 could display the day of the week and the seconds simultaneously, rather than one or the other. The GAW-100 and GAS-100 can do this.

Watch Geek :) Btw after watching this video I just ordered one. Went for the green strap one as I think it looks nicer. I got a GAS-100-1a recently as an impulse purchase in Bangkok airport. In higndsight I should have done a bit of research as I would have just gone for this.

How close do I need to live near atomic towers in order to have my watch synced perfectly ?
There are maps online of the coverage of each tower, but in average, 1000-2000 miles
I read 1500km in casio website.
Still a step back from the GWG-1000 in my opinion...
