The good thing about DJI compared to other companies like GoPro is that they actually add functionalities to your camera with firmware updates. Sony and Gopro please take note.

@@jesusblessthesecommentsamenwell…there is a shitload of technology built into this particular piece if plastic. Plastic has benefits that in many cases are more beneficial than metal. And not all plastic are the same. I own the pocket 3, and it does not feel cheap even if it is very lightweight

Yeah it was working for sure, then it disappeared on all of my clips. Thankfully the firmware fixed. I said it in another video, this is essentially a beta phase of the camera in time for the holidays, and us people are the QA team 😂

huge update! d-log, hlg and also normal 10 bit profile in 4k 120p! if it had also had a 6k to allow a 4x digital zoom without losing quality it would have been perfection!

I heard about this new baby that it has some bugs in its gimble, and its screen also overheats problems
I found this update because of a bug I was experiencing, and it fixed it. The overheating has been fixed. The screen will likely have a silent hardware fix down the line.
Man I have Pocket 2 and its dynamic range is pretty annoying. I hope to get Pocket 3 soon, and it seems it is improved compared to Pocket 2. The great about these Pocket cameras is that they are light. I also have a full frame Nikon Z camera and with a bright S lens it's heavy AF. I only invested in a Nikon Z long focus lenses so far, so Pocket 3 should be really handy when filming objects located close to me. Not sure I'll film in DLOG-M because normally I don't grade my videos at all and I know nothing about LUT things etc. I hope 10-bit dynamic range alone will give me much better result than 8-bit Pocket 2.

are you happy with the Pocket 3's overall performance and features? I'm getting tired of going around with my ZV1, with shotgun mic, gimbal, extra batteries etc. can you also comment on the Pocket 3's battery duration?
As a wide angle + second angle + discrete device + gimbal (which I hate using), the camera is darn slick, great at that. As a primary, I resort to the ZVE1, as I prefer filming on sticks when possible, with movement only when it makes sense, I still use the ZV1 on this channel, but it does not deviate from that. Going to a party, restaurant, casual outings, love having the pocket 3 around instead of zv1, far better battery life (about on par with my bigger cameras), and with the right accessories, faster, and easier to operate. I have a few gimbals as well, so glad those days are over.
not having removable battery means that I have to come a bit more prepared, which is normal, I usually come to locations with a battery bank anyhow and the fast recharge is really amazing.
not being able to casually put down and stand up is fixed with a cage and the device usability aspect is very high once addressed. having the right accessories makes this device such a joy to use, because most of the time, the camera is sitting still, but I love that I can rotate quickly without needing to relevel the ballhead, double to recenter, all these small aspects make it a fun device to use once you really get it down.
It does have real limitations, such as lack of focal length and a gimbal is naturally fragile (as well as the screen), however if you can deal with that, it's top notch.

Normal color is 10 bit when using HEVC as long as frame rate is 120 or less and not in low light/timelapse
Company’s just restrict setting so people think it’s an upgrade in firmware sales gimmick.

If I understand correctly, DJI, with firmware, now enables 4k 120 with 10bit, with dlog-M, and with HLG.
In a CZcams video, (@lucabono, professional cinematographer) suggests with the pocket 3 to use the hlg profile with -0.7 to -1 underexposed (protection highlights).
This makes sense because dlog-M is NOT a true log profile (as dlog is, "without M").
According to his claims, pocket 3's hlg profile has more dynamic range than dlog-M.
So now that there is 10bit, if you have the time and inclination, do some testing.
it depends, I typically DO NOT underexposed unless there are a lot of white walls and sun on said walls, I'm aware of the clipping, sometimes, I'm ok with it because it's not a big concern. Normal 0 works well *most of the time, and I would rather not get into a habit of adjusting a bunch of settings on a small, auto like device :)
Now you have a problem! You forgot to attach the battery grip while updating! Now your battery grip is not on the new firmware!

@@CharlieVN Nope. Not a joke. The battery handle also got a firmware update and the MIC 2 got a firmware update (needs to be manually installed) as noted in the instructions. There doesn't seem to be a way to update the battery handle firmware after you've installed the main firmware...
So, isn't there 2 of battery handles? 1 small and 1 larger one? How can it does both at the same time? Sorry, don't have this yet, mine is still coming.
@@unlock-ernope, only the bigger extension is a battery. The smaller one gives us the ability to use any 1/4 mounts and the usb c port at the same time.
