Jason Meade Trial Day 8: Defense rests, state calls new witness to the stand (Part 1)

The murder trial for the former Franklin County deputy is back for its eighth day as a new witness was added and subpoenas were issued last week.

The defense did not call any additional witnesses to the stand Tuesday as the Jason Meade trial resumed this week after a short delay. Attorneys for Meade were expected to call a use of force expert to testify but instead rested their case.
The judge allowed the state to call a rebuttal witness to testify in court on Tuesday morning. Christopher Corne, who is employed by an HVAC company, said he was working in the area the day of the shooting.
Prior to Corne's testimony, the judge told the jury that a separation of witness order was issued for this case. The judge explained the purpose of the order is to not allow witnesses to hear the evidence and testimony of others.
Corne was not on the prosecution's original witness list and the judge told the jury that he came forward after watching portions of the testimony from local media coverage and live video of the trial. The judge told the jury Corne posted several statements about the case on social media and then also later deleted his Facebook account.
"You may consider these factors when trying to determine the witness's credibility," the judge said. He then reminded the jury, it is their duty to decide what testimony to believe and what testimony not to believe.
Last week, additional subpoenas issued showed attorneys wanted to know about any communication between Goodson's mom, Tamala Payne, Goodson family attorney, Sean Walton and Christopher Corne.

I wonder if jury is being put off by this female defense attorney yelling at all wittness and screaming. But on cross examination of states last wittnes the law professor she really did not score no points. He was very likeable and creditable I think jury paid attention to him

If I was on the jury I’d be put off and disgusted by how they are acting… the family of Casey is in the court having to arch this garbage!! His testimony was cringe worthy… my blood was boiling when the defendant was get gnarley with the state cross examination… I hope the jury gets it right and finds him guilty!!
You can't shoot someone in the back who has a bag of food in one hand and his door key in the other and say you felt threatened. The defendant seems to have no remorse..

@Indiartworks testifying can have a very negative impact on your life, especially in a publicist case. I think we all would like to think we would do the right thing if we were a witness to something, but we really don't know unless we are in the situation.

@kristin2115 watched meade testimony. He didn't. Casey turned right to walk inside his home. And meade took that as a threat. But upon entering the house, meade himself said he had to turn right to enter the home, due to door not opening fully

This witness testified the victim had an afro back in a ponytail.

The witness did awesome and held his own against the defendant’s lawyer.

He told the fbi he saw what he saw then went in a certain direction. They got him on a ring camera on a different street. He’s a liar. He made friends with the dead kids mom and grand mom via FB. Then deleted all of it. Guess what. They retrieved it. He just wants his 15 minutes of fame.

@@dianahayes472 he also admitted that he has been having lots of private conversations with Casey's mom , which is unethical and can be labeled as witness tampering . I believe Casey's mom is promising him money in order to get him to say what she wants !
Here’s a reason. Sean Walton paid him to testify. If he was actually a witness he would have said something 4 years ago.

I believed him when I was listening to his testimony I'm thinking what reason would he have to get on stand. Commit perjury and lie then I thought no reason whatsoever nothing to gain. Deleting Facebook post and comments not good. But if he felt he was getting harassing comments and 100's of Facebook friends request I can understand he wanted to lay low trying to avoid it. But maybe shouldn't have posted it on Facebook to begin with. But dosent mean he didn't see what he saw and I believe him.
You heard his testimony, he followed the cops to see some action. It’s pretty odd that he was messaging Casey’s mom and he deleted everything. He’s also an ex convict, I’m sure he supports law enforcement…..

He only started messing Casey mother when he was deciding to come forward but they never replied and I'm sure defense looked at emails or commutation to Mr corne in last 6 months wasn't any. This is not a testimony that Mr corne and Casey mom coresered or concocted. No communication was proven between them. You have no idea what the communication was because he deleted the evidence, just like his FB comments. The fact is, there was communication and he deleted it. Why would the officer go out of his way to investigate? What’s that, Casey had a gun at the scene and out of his holster….weird.
@dianahayes472 Agreed! What was funny to me, is that the defense lawyer wanted to make a point about lack of references to Corne's testimony (having to basically take him at his word). Well isn't that what the defense wants everyone to do with the defendant?? He doesn't have much in the way of evidence or witness testimony when he says things like "I saw him wave a gun & point it at me" "He ran from me" or "He turned and took aim at me"....Where is the evidence? Are we supposed to take a man on trial for murder, at his word?? What reason does Corne have to involve himself with this? He doesn't seem comfortable in the public eye, so he couldn't be there for kicks or the limelight. I believe some of the details are a bit off, but the core of his testimony is truthful. He has no reason to lie about this, unlike someone else we know 🤷

I listened to this wittness today I feel he was truthful when he basically said Casey didn't point a gun at him or saw a gun period. Now defense on cross says you told fbi Casey had one hand off the wheel he said ok but he said Casey at a point was dancing with both hands of wheel so maybe he had one hand too. But I also on direct thought corne said Casey took also one hand off kinda of dancing when he passed but no gun. It's possible jury will find guilty I hope

Watching the woman defense lawyer bounce around and the way her eyes dart back and forth made me keep checking to see if I had my playback speed set to 1.5x 😮 I’d be curious to see if her pupils are huge. I’d guess that they are
If the Goodson family was soo innocent then why does Casey and his dad have over 50 cases in Franklin county? Not to mention the father had a warrant out for his arrest in January of 2024
They don’t want you to hear that part. Or the toxicology report showed Goodson had marijuana in his system, which invalidates any firearm license you may have federally. We’re expected to believe he was the utmost citizen who wasn’t known to knowingly break laws.

Dont find the "witness" to the intersection incident credible at all! First of all, if he had actually been a witness the prosecution would have reached out to him to testify in the trial, as they would have seen him being there with the traffic cams. Second of all, he didnt claim one thing that hasnt already been testified to at this trial, so all his information could have easily come just from watching this. Third, I find it suspicious that hes been following this trial, commenting on it on social media, then decides to erase all his comments, delete his accounts, and "reach out" to the state?

The defendant lies and said that the man had a gun when he did not. Jason wants to kill that man. Jason is not credible. He shot the man in the back five times as he was opening the door with the keys in one hand and the sandwich in the other hand. The victim didn’t have a third hand to carry a gun.
Thank Goodness Christopher came forward. God works in mysterious ways..! No matter what … The world knows what REALLY happened. Defendant showed his demeanor when cross examined. Can’t be mad at Christopher because he saw the truth. No gun!

The neighbor who took the stand and said she pulled up right at the moment the cops were giving commands lied. She was in the house. That's why the driver of the car Donny didn't take the stand. 2 people in a car would have heard the commands. She was having trouble with the neighbor and his dog so she was glad he was unalive so she lied to help the cop. The new witness would have seen them in the car if they were there as she testified.
He was parked infront of her house.. she was inside recording him. That's why he left.

No evidence of him running, only the shooter saw him run. There is however a mountain of evidence that points to the fact that Goodson never ever was aware of meads presence and Meade was having this delusional threat fantasy all by himself because there was no threat. Keys in the door, subs in hand, legally registered handgun on safe, earbuds in his ears, forensically proven music playing at the time of the shooting in those earbuds. Shot in the back 5 times, additional witness that confirms he had no weapon in hand….Meade hunts him down without turning his lights or sirens on.
Mr Corne did a great job. Even under pressure.

Jason is a combat vet and a Swat officer, I’m sure he knows a gun when he sees one. What was recovered at the scene, oh, Casey’s gun, not in his holster. Christopher Corne is an ex convict, I’m sure he supports law enforcement.
The trial is a stunt to please people.If he’s found innocent, they will paint Casey as a hero and trash downtown and other cities like they normal do when the animals don’t get their way. To think Kenosha got trashed because the cops shot rightfully shot Jacob Blake, who was a local rapist and abusive boyfriend, because that’s what qualifies as heroes in BLMs eyes. That guy lived and got a $2 million go fund me for his poor life choices. His kid and the girlfriend? No compensation for his actions.

I could see the dude tossing the gun around dancing trying to be a gangster rapping and pointing it. I could also see if he was moving his hands around ganger style it might look like a gun. If Meade didn't see the gun I am not sure how he would know he had a gun when he did. I see kids all the time making dance videos dancing around brandishing a gun. We know the gun was not in his hoister when he drives so it was probably laying on the seat he could pick it up point it the music. Depending on what song was on would determine if he incorporated it with his routine. Overall this witness stated casey was driving wrecklessly so there was a good reason to pull him over. The witness said Meade had an identifying outfit on.
Wittnes said Casey had no gun in hands or hand. I feel like Jason lied about seeing a gun. Now you said how would jadon see a gun if he didn't have one. We'll after he pursued him for not reason no gun. And follow him to his home when Casey got out of car and was walking around to the back door he probably was carrying it by his side which wasn't against the law. With ear pods listening to music never heard or was aware of Jason until he shot him like a dog. So Jason pursuing and what happened was unlawful because with Casey no pointing a gun at this white van of wittness was no crime committed. Meade saw a BLACK man with a gun in the car. In his hand (not waiving or pointing it) or on the seat or in the console so he decided to pursue the black man and he killed him like a dog!
