He wasn't the 1st to land an underrotated 4A (on two feet). But he didn't want to give up because he can't bear the medias not being around him, and most of all, knows he can't win anymore. People should stop worshiping him like a cult leader.

@@alena9012 He wasn't the FIRST TO ATTEMPT a 4A in an international competition. Yes. But those attempted jumps were downgraded and thus receive the base value of 3A. And Yuzu almost fully rotates it and receives the base value of 4A. So, his attempted 4A is the FIRST TO BE CERTIFIED (or recognized). And how did you know that his main reason for not giving up the 4A is that he needs attention from the media? I think that it is another way around. The media needs him. Don't you think he will receive all the attention when he won his 3rd gold medal? Every site and channel uses him as a thumbnail instead of those who get the gold medal because they want to gain clicks. He even doesn't have a social media account. It's not our problem that your favorite skater received little or maybe no attention from the media or the people. Remember that greatness can never be bought not even by a gold medal.

I just watched his comentary for this performance, saying that the two falls are part of the program to tell the story of his journey.
When you chase your dreams there will be people that would try to stop you, to tell you is not worth it. But he never gave up, like this program he creates his own universe between the heaven and earth, is not perfect, it doesn't need to be. It's pain and beauty, art in his purest form. If we don't try we don't fail, if we try and fail we can try again without fear.
He goes out there and puts his heart in this performance in the world biggest stage, with millions watching and waiting, no other could do this.
Yuzuru you truly are from another planet, but so human. Everyday I wake up knowing that I have the luxury of living in the same era as you, and to be a witness of your greatness.

Yuzuru has said the Yuzuru Hanyu people remember might be the Sochi and Pyeongchang Yuzuru. But to me, Beijing Yuzuru is equally important, and maybe more inspiring. The fact that he respects his art enough to never cheat and complain is admirable. It is also remarkable that he has chosen legacy(4A) over a third ogm, to stay true to his childhood self, and also himself now as a skater. It is rare to find a person liking what he does as a profession this much.
i stumbled upon yuzuru hanyu in the beginning of 2021 through his seimei 2018 pc olympic skate. i was drawn to him because i think the hydroblade was the coolest thing ever. then, i went down the rabbit hole and watched many, many documentaries and i was blown away by his perseverance and hard work, and mostly by his temperament. now i have discovered many brilliant skaters and learnt many rules of fs, but there is none like yuzuru hanyu. it is a privilege to be alive in his time.

I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz around Yuzuru Hanyu vs other competitors so I decided to check the top skaters out. There’s no doubt that they are all very talented. I don’t know much about the technical aspects of figure skating to comment on any of that, but I personally just find Yuzuru’s performances A LOT more captivating and entertaining. I LOOOVED how he just got up and kept performing spectacularly after falling on the ice. This guy has fallen in front of hundreds of millions of so many times in his competitions and other shows that he has developed the emotional and psychological fortress of iron enables him to keep moving forward and not lay down flat or be embarrassed. This type of strength of character and inner strength combined with his relentless drive to compete with himself (because he had surpassed everyone else) for a greater level of skating proficiency and excellence and his powerful, yet sweet personality are what make him a legend. He even fell and got back up gracefully too. He didn’t come to win gold again - he came to face his personal goal. Following the events, you could see that the weight had been lifted off of his shoulders as he was in such a bright mood at the gala despite being on painkillers throughout the Olympics.
Each time Yuzuru skates, you can truly feel his sincerity and passion for the sport. The performance of Yuzuru that made me into his fan was Romeo and Juliet from Nice 2012-a program that also had a fall. Not the cleanest program Yuzuru has but in the program he was able to interweave mistakes into the story of the program.
This Olympic free program depicts the parallels between Yuzuru Hanyu (the skater) and Uesugi Kenshin. In this program, Yuzuru showed what it means to be in between Heaven and Earth and to answer what it means to fight and to thread and wrestle on the pondering if such a fight is worth anything after all. He once again stayed true to the words on his travelling banner-to take on the ginormous challenge, the Olympus Mons of figure skating, the quadruple axel.
And this is why, Yuzuru is loved-not because of his two Olympic gold medals, but because of his dedication to his craft, his love of the sport to push it forward despite all the challenges that he has faced-asthma, losing his rink multiple times, near death experiences, an almost career-ending injury in the same season he set world records within 2 weeks of each other, the slanderous claims directed towards him, etc.
During GPF 2015, after setting the historical record for the overall score, Yuzuru said: "Scores are scores. Performance is performance." From what I remember from Worlds 2012, he was the youngest to compete in Nice, bronze he may be, but the audience applauded that Romeo and Juliet program with a fall-a program where one put one's self wholeheartedly. I still hear the applause during the medal ceremony in 2012 for him.
I have rarely seen figure skaters that delve into their programs philosophically. And I'm glad to have witnessed throughout the years by one born as a feather, tight as a tied bow string.
Blue flames will endure. Spring will come.

During Kiss and Cry, the background music is "Hall of Fame". You shall be happy with your performance, since your efforts did pay back. Your achievements are already carved in history. Please just focus on what you love and keep doing it, as your self-fulfillment is the most important. Thank you for leading this sport and giving us the opportunity to witness history. That's what Olympics mean: Higher, Faster and Stronger.

He really is a genius, most skaters dont get to choose the music they perform, but yuzu is different he decides on his own music, he also edits them to same timing of his jumps, he is such completed package, super love this Heaven on Earth its so deep and calming

Get to witness the historical moment!!! I still don't know how he pull this off with a severe injured ankle. Four years ago, gold medal with a broken ankle. Now, a 4A that's so close with a broken ankle again. What a true fighter, warrior, and olympian! We are blessed to witness his greatness. I just hope he can recover well and find his way to show the world of his skating! Thank U Yuzuru to fight till the end!

It really takes courage to watch the fp again after having known the result.I could barely catch my breath when the first quad A appeared, and I found myself crying when he fell the second time.I can't imagine how he did it ,skating with such a badly injured ankle, yet he still put quad Axel into his program.Elegant,sensitive,bold,brave.
There will never, ever, ever be any skater like Yuzuru. He is the one and only champion to many.
When he was about to get off the ice,did you notice the BGM played?Yah.Hall of Fame.

@@user-kd9uf7hv6m I wonder what was his success rate at that time, landing the 4A. Did he go into the attempt knowing it's 50-50? Or was it higher? Judging by his speed of recovery I must say he probably did not have a high success rate, that's why he almost had that recovery time planned in the choreography. 😐
