I love British documentaries like this. It shows real people being real people. It promotes empathy in stressful situations. And it refrains from using the overdramtic music and editing of similar American shows, where the object seems to be to laugh or be shocked at the patients, instead of empathise with them and the healthcare staff who work SO HARD to help every person that comes through their doors.
100%!
I'm addicted to these shows
I absolutely hate the dramatic music, editing and camerawork of some shows like this, usually the American ones. The drama comes from the reality of it, the real people in real situations. It's not a movie, it doesn't need all that embellishment. That's why this particular show is one of the best.
Beautifully put @TheMadAfrican1 I absolutely agree. 🫂🙏🏻
Reginald George Brown passed away peacefully, on September 3rd, 2016 age 84.
So he lived another 5-6 years.
Thank you for providing an update for us.
Reginald's obit: In loving memory of Reginald George Brown who sadly passed away on 3rd September 2016.
Reg passed away in The Mayday Hospital in Croydon, London, with Pneumonia. Reg was in no pain and died peacefully with his family at his side.
Thank You for that information. He is now with his Father that he clearly Loved
RIHEAVEN sweet angel 🙏🤍🙏😪
Sweet fella!
He was a sweet man. And his dad really did look like Humphrey Bogart
Thank you for the update. I was just thinking if he was still with us or not. He seemed to be such a lovely and kind man. May he rest in peace.💜💐🌷🌹🌼🌸🌺🥀🪷
He was born to be a doctor. What an awesome person. He was born to be a doctor. What an awesome person.
Dr. Firas has me in tears when he speaks of his father. He is such a kind and compassionate soul.
Chin up n cheer up. I will always remember that. What a kind Dr he is to worry about this elderly man so much.
I am so impressed by Dr. FIRAS and Dr. ANDRE. Both are Excellent Gentleman as well as Doctors. I was so happy for the respect they had for the Man who was critically ill. They talked to him honestly with care and feeling. Andre has a strong view of allowing the patient the choice over their own body and Death. An outstanding quality that I greatly admire. Great Episode.
Listening to Reginald talk about how he missed his dad so much I felt a deep pang of missing my own father. ❤
Cheers to you Dr.Firas, for fighting for your patient Reg. My heart breaks for him.
Dr Firas is such a lovely man.
If only all doctors were like him.
Reginald was one of the nicest, loveliest men I've seen. I think it would have been wonderful to have known him in real life. I am saddened to learn that he has passed on.
My heart. I was there the day my dad died of sepsis, unfortunately my dad was in a coma, but I was there by his side the moment he took his last breath. And I would do it 500x over
The blessings to you! Sending you the love! Is to being the privilege to be with loved one as they are to being the pass out of life. I too would to being the do same. Your love one will to being the hear you and your love.
Hugs to you. I was able to be with both my parents when they passed ... 56 days apart. I totally understand how you feel, as I had always prayed I'd be with them. It was a huge gift.
I'm so sorry for your loss. 🙏💙🙏
I was 19 when my dad died and I have missed him my whole adult. My mom died when she was 83. I still have a while to make it to 83 but it is getting shorter all the time. We are lucky to have had great parents in our lives. Not everyone is that lucky. Reg's dad was a hunk. 😂❤
He was born to be a doctor. What an awesome person
Watching those brothers was so funny. The little brother constantly putting the older one in his place
Lol a gynecologist "is girls that look at other girls brazilians." 🤦♀️
@@georgieeve2026😂🤣😂🤣
Honestly in some regards they are both immature but it was nice to hear the elder brother praise his dads influence in his life.
Little Perve is what the older one is.
The lady has been messing with her eyes all day
Reginald broke my heart, I just want to hug him
The consultant Andre with Reggie was beautiful. Firas is wonderful too and its so touching he looked liked Reggie's departed father x
Oh Reginald… such a lovely man ❤️Thank you to you wonderful Drs and Nurses 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️ We need more documentaries like these.
just something I noticed .. when the dr asked what day it was, he had to turn around and see what day it was himself. I myself would have a hard time answering some of those questions
Since retirement I almost never know what day of the week it is or the date.
My dad had tons of these assessments, the day of the week is the least important of them if all others are passed/ correct. I remember my dad forgetting it was my birthday and saying the year is 1936 after a fall on the head, that concussion healed up just fine after a night in the hospital and we celebrated my birthday a day later.
I noticed that too!
When you work such long hours and days, they merge. Doesn’t really matter what day it is.
BELIEVE ME. YOU LOSE TRACK OF TIME EVERY 10 MINUTES. YOU ARE TOTALLY FOCUSED ON WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND ALL OTHER NOISE IS GONE.
Reginald’s surgeon Andre, is such a genuine guy, so thoughtful and kind.
To think Reg could have been in the army with my Dad at Suez canal in Egypt so many years ago…my Dad has long passed now but I find I get quite emotional over elderly gents on this show , especially if they have no family in with them .
I love seeing South African Doctors in these documentaries. Makes me proud and sad. Sad because we have lost them , but proud they made it elsewhere.
Our South African doctors are amazing but it is sad that so many are emigrating.
I think there are maybe ten Drs in my Canadian city that are not South African.
I have worked in EMS for years. I retired a few years ago andI miss it! I used to pray for everyone we will take to the hospital for my 24 hour shift! I can tell you stories that would blow your minds!
Angels on earth
Nursing staff are the angels on a doctors shoulders.
This young Dr knows this man has immediate needs and no one is grasping it, from the family to the Drs. Wow
So glad that the sweet old man got better❤
He died
@@joy7218 bless him ❤
@@joy7218 but 5 years after this episode was filmed
I'm addicted to this show, very different from the US
I really appreciate so much that you give us closure and we hear the "end" of the story. Only reason I keep watching=)
Reginald is such a precious man bless him still being kind when he is in so much pain
Richard's life lessons on women to his younger brother and the explanation about the gynecologist was hilarious. 🤣 Guess I'm a bit like his mother, I like my son's Facebook status's too.. haha
This happened to me and I became septic, in a coma, in kidney failure and in a small regional hospital never stable enough to fly to a bigger hospital. The surgeon told my family I only had a 10% chance of making it through the surgery. I lost almost half of my colon on the right side. That was in October of 2013.
Chin up and cheer up...I love that!
34:23 what an amazing group of people, both doctors and patient. Humanity can be truly beautiful sometimes ❤ Rest In Peace Reginald (- 2016). I’m glad he is with his old man once again
That young man Richard said it best live your life to fullest and enjoy don’t wait until it’s to late.
I've been hooked on this program since day one of discovering it . Hello from the hills of East Tennessee !
Thank you for sharing these...
Me too 😊
It's very interesting to see how things go in a British hospital.
I know! It seems the doctors are kinder, more caring. I have refractory epilepsy, simply my medication doesn't completely stop my seizures, and I've seen more hospitals and doctors than I want to. I received an implant, and with my medication I've been seizure free for 3.5 years.
Dr Frias what a wonderful compassionate doctor so glad that Reginald got through
I wish there were more series like this.
Just like this 78yr old man, I had to have an exploritory laporotmy. The recovery from having been sliced from sternum to belly button and having ones organs rummaged through is horrendous!! Mine was caused by a surgical mistake the day before. The surgeon unknowingly cut my spleen, but didn't double check all bleeding had stopped!😠
I'm so very glad your ok now.. Blessings. 🙏 My aunt passed away in 2005 from the Dr cutting my aunt's pancreas by accident and she went septic. She died one week after her surgery. Sadly the same thing occurred where the Dr didn't re-check the area .
@@janice576 That's terrible and I'm so sorry to hear these stories. I'm going to avoid any surgery at all costs
@@Odo55 I honestly don't blame you unless it's life threatening. Many blessings and Positive Vibes sent your way. 🙏💙🙏
@@janice576 Thank you ❗🙏🏼💖
@@Odo55 I’m sorry about your aunt.🙏🏼
I nearly died that day as well. I was in ICU for 5 days. The recovery was soo painful!
Reginald's father was far better looking than Humphrey Bogart and Reginald himself will have been a very handsome man. I'm happy he lived some extra years. 😘
Thank you. I look forward to this every week.
Watching from Toronto, Canada. I was recently in an ER for the first time for sepsis so I find this fascinating.
Hope you are better now.
Such incredible communication skills and empathy demonstrated by those doctors. Absolutely exemplar.
Richard and his little brother got me all in the feels. Reminds me of me and my big brothers. I hope Cheryl Cole called Richard, he's quite the catch.
Dr Firas is amazing. He’s so kind.
I was with my dad when he passed and years later was with my momma when she passed. I miss them so much but was glad I was there to tell each of them how much I loved them as their spirit left their flesh bodies behind.
My late husband had an exploratory to find out why he kept getting peritonitis.
The surgeon came out and told me that his entire large intestines were rotted, and his small intestines were dying.
He came home with hospice on Monday; went to the hospice center about 9 pm Wednesday night because his pain was out of control.
He passed away at 5:00 am Thursday morning.
This whole team is amazing ❤❤
Please make it able to turn the closed captions on. The background noise makes it difficult to hear it all. Thank you!
Greetings from America Reginald and I'm so glad you're okay! I hope you and your family have a VERY MERRY ⛄🎄 CHRISTMAS
Dang dude! Your father was a looker, that's for sure!
I have had this kind of surgery and it was done a long time ago when they didn’t have the technology for the kind of investigation that they have done. The surgeon did not know what he would find and the surgery was dangerous but, they didn’t tell me that. I only found out afterwards.
Doctor really cares!
Great hospital care.
this has been an inspiring documentary where at the hospital - second chances, new birth as well as those who transitioned... life is very fragile and one must always appreciate it like Dr Firas who said it best - if he can give the family an additional 5 minutes or extra years - it is what he has been trained for - life extension whenever possible and if not, then assisting with least amount of pain and suffering.
I love seeing that doctors in the UK are involved in the care of their patients, in the US they come, check quickly and leave. Then it's up to the nurses to come, whenever they have a chance to give the patient medications, fix the IV and other stuff that the patient needed right away. It's not the nurses' fault though, they're overworked. Medicine here has become a money-making business.
Sadly I agree with you the drs in the US don't care like these ones do
You’re exactly right. In the US, the nurses run the show. And they are incredible at it!
Being these are all at least 12 years ago, I hope they are all doing well. Glad for the bowel issues gentlemen, glad his daughter was there prior.
The fact that these people are probably still working, even with what the current government thinks of them, speaks to their dedication to helping people and being healthcare professionals. Truly wonderful human beings.
He died a few years later
The young man’s “man” explanation of what a gynecologist is 😂 … is it really now, there fella? 😂😂
Ty...❤
Watching from saint Lucia love you guys
Watching from South Africa ☺️
thanks
Reginald seems lovely man. Gee his Father was so handsome.
اله يشافي كل مريض و الله يشافي كل مخلوق حي يتالم و يرحمنا الله برحمته الواسعة و نحن احياء و نحن اموات
The 2 Brothers were sweet n hysterical at the same time. Loved the gynecologist talk.😅
Watching from Nassau Bahamas 🇧🇸
As an American Er tech. I am definitely not used to seeing drs do blood work or Iv bags😮
Also how long does it take that girl to do eyeliner and mascara. Even with editing it’s seemed like forever.
It took her forever because she was watching the 2 boys. So cute to watch them watching each other.
I love British documentaries because they are cool very
Wouldn’t his low blood sugar have been seen right away ? Diagnosis seems strange to me.
It should have been in the blood work .
Any illness can affect blood sugar. If your diabetic you will often get immediate increases
I was thinking the same thing but I think that they did ask him if he had taken his insulin straight away didn’t they?
@@nikkikidd8428 , yes, but the diagnosis was too much insulin…. The lab work would have shown blood sugar level. So I am confused.
Metabolic acidosis is difficult to diagnose, many reasons why it occurs. Mr. Brown was very sick and this retired RN would have been immediately very concerned about family not getting there in time.
Dr Firas is such a beautiful soul. He’s in the perfect occupation and was absolutely born to be a Dr. I wonder how and where he is practicing today.
I couldn’t be there for my dad because the virus of 2020 just came out. Hospital only let us zoom call. He passed away after a triple bypass. Would have given anything to be with him.
The brothers are hilarious
Wow my heart 😢
Gynecologists are "girls that look at other girls' ... brazilians." Love it!
Shame this is so sad 😭
The doctor went above and beyond. Proud of him for that. Kudos to you doctors!!
5 litres of fluid?? that's excessive for old mate there.
That guy saying his mom was too old at 40 to use "LOL". 😂😂
Richard seems to have an over inflated view of himself doesn't he? Life's gonna be hard for that young bloke.
Can someone tell me how to search these so i can watch them sequentially since the actual titles are not in the thumbnails?
Why do they wait till after 5 rings on the red phone? Can anyone answer this? Generally curious
I've been watching for many years, and that's the first time I've seen that sign. Makes me wonder, too.
This is so sad
I have a cousin named Reg Brown. And your Reg,❤❤ if he is still alive, needs to be told that I think that his dad was far better looking than Humphrey Bogart ever thought of being. ❤
16:20 This guy seems rather full of it. It's doubtful a gynocologist would have any interest in him.
The consultant named Andre with the pony tail is either South African or Zimbabwean.
South African
4:00 “It’s nothing to worry about…” First rule of being a healthcare professional: NEVER EVER say this to your pt.
His dad did look like Humphrey Bogart.
Do they have a button to call the nurse?
❤❤❤❤❤
That fellow who came in with stomachache. He’d make an excellent Scrouge.
I wish they would have givin an update on the bald 59 year old gentleman who was suspected off having a heart attack
The tv series has 2 brothers the same way.but they supposed to work at the hospital.
Where in the world was the daughter? Family seemed disconnected.
Reginal also has a deep fold in his ear and that is a sign of heart disease, did they check that out or did people even notice that anymore?
It’s also just a normal sign of aging
As a patient in A&E, I’m certain Reginald had an EKG soon after admission, along with lab studies which would be much more specific in detecting heart disease. While several studies have shown a statistical correlation between ear lobe crease and coronary artery disease, the EKG and blood values are more definitive and give more specific information, faster.❤
Really!? I have one
He has "cauliflower ears" from boxing!!
That has been debunked. It's just a wrinkle like everywhere else as you age.
I was 2 minutes late for my mom dead even after 20 years I still can’t forgive myself
Both of my parents died instantly ❤
Please let yourself off the hook.
I’m sure she knew she was loved.
No regrets. ❤
Please don’t blame yourself. I wasn’t able to be there for my parents, brother, son. In my Mum’s case I had just seen her the day before. All of their passing was unexpected.
Reginald as scrooge, he looks just like how I'd picture him!!!
Did his daughter ever rock up.
What does a & e stand for
Accident & Emergency
The segments about the brothers were an annoyance, I fastward them all, what was that supposed to be? Comic relief of some sort?
We would benefit from having a universal health care system in the US. Instead of tying health insurance to employment.
Stuart needs a massive lifestyle change first along with the meds.
That girl behind the 2 brothers is putting on her makeup. I hope she didn’t come into get emergency care!!!
That lady's Behavior was a bit of concern.... entirely inappropriate. Isn't there a lav/bathroom for that?
Enough with the immature man talking about woman!
