What is shaper machine used for?
The shaper machine is a reciprocating type of machine basically used for producing the horizontal, vertical or flat surfaces. The shaper holds the single point cutting tool in ram and workpiece is fixed in the table
What is a shaper in machining?
shaper, metal-cutting machine in which the workpiece is usually held in a vise or similar device that is clamped to a table and can be manually operated or power driven at right angles to the path of a chisellike cutting tool with only one cutting edge held on the end of a reciprocating ram.
What are the types of shaper machine?
There are nine different types of Shaper Machine:
Standard Shaper.
Vertical Shaper.
Horizontal Shaper.
Geared Shaper.
Universal Shaper.
Crank Shaper.
Draw cut Shaper.
Hydraulic Shaper and.
In a shaper machine work is held stationary and the cutting tool on the ram is moved back and forth across the work. In a planar machine, the tool is stationary and work piece travels back and forth under the tool. Shaper can be used for shaping much smaller jobs.
What is working principle of shaper?
Working principle of a shaper machine:
The cutting tool is fixed on the ram which moves forward and backward in a slider (reciprocating movement) form. The forward strokes toward the workpiece take the cut and the backward movement set the ram for another cutting action.

Various types of shaping machines are classified into four such as motion type (driving mechanism), ram travel, table design, and the type of cutting stroke: Types of shaper machine base on driving mechanism: Crank type e.g. quick return motion mechanism. Geared shaper type
