Lol. Truth. My husband is 53 and it's just now paying off. He now has his own firm, employees, and plenty of work, as well as opportunity to design what he likes, but this has only come about after years of NOT actually designing much of anything. Or, he would design something only to never see it actually get built due to various common issues with owners. If you want to do it, have dedication and patience.
This won't stop me.
I agree 😂
I agree
Same
Nice for you bro, don’t give up
Try your best
This guy didn’t have dedication money or a glimpse of reality. Now he’s telling the world, not to study architecture.
Right brother 100%
Wdym everything he said is just plain fact lmao.
@@awesomebydefault3877no he didn’t buddy I got a uncle that works for Disney making 450,000 a year 😂 they make money if you go to the right company and are good at your job
yes but why the hustle ? did we expect to be architects the year we enter the university? build the classical buildings without any financial support ? people must work hard to achieve what they want in life, the journey was never meant to be easy, the dude here is telling us to change our careers because it's hard for him, maybe he's making millions from designing buildings, while we listen to his words and shatter our dreams@@awesomebydefault3877
there is a reason why he might be saying this.
1. It’s a 4 year degree then comes the certification which takes a few more years while you work.
2. Not as good as doctor or lawyer but it’s a good living. After you earn you license, the sky is the limit if you are good at getting clients.
3. Like every other worthwhile profession, its called paying your dues.
Edit: It is a 4-year degree in my state. Some states, it’s 5 years. Contact your state’s professions office to verify.
1. Depends, in Europe you can’t do shit with a bachelor. Master is practically a must and that is gonna take at least 5 years.
2. it’s different depending on where u live n work but architected is on average one of the worst paying jobs for the time spend on education. It has to be done for passion.
3. eh very few professionals require you to grind out worst of the bunch assiagnemnts for multiples years after you’ve already got ur license.
Its 15 years to make a good amount of money as a doctor, idk what this guy (in the vid) is on abt
It's not all about money, it's passion and self-expression.
Thank you
There’s no ‘self expression’ in architecture, specially as an employee.
@@pedroroque8681 can you explain, please?
@@ahmetkerematakur4247 When you work for someone else as an employee, you can only follow orders and only add on with your employers permission.
@@ahmetkerematakur4247ecause you will be executing the design sketches of your Associate Director, and he will override your design decisions.
When you get promoted, you will be managing people and the project timeline, and you won't have time to design. You will delegate the actual design work to other people. You give a design sketch and conceptual idea, and your guys will have to execute them.
Your client also dictates a lot of things. He can easily say, "No... can we have ANOTHER OPTION?" This is the most dreaded thing you will hear from a client after working 3 days without sleep on the design. And you have to start from scratch again.
To me, the best path is: be a superstar in design and be very good at it. Then be super duper patient and learn MANAGEMENT and BUSINESS. When you get promoted, drop the design mindset, and go full businessman mindset. Be a Creative Director type person where you don't do hands-on design anymore. You must also accept that there will be a lot of people who will be better at design than you. But you are the guy who knows how to make the BUSINESS work.
You have to shift your mindset to business and client relationship. Time management, budgeting, etc. Learn how to run a company. You will make more money like that.
Architects should also learn how Franchises like McDonald's and GAP build and run their franchise. There is this thing called a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in management. It is how these Franchises build and manage their companies. It is a simple guidebook to standardize operations, so time is not wasted. It makes the company run like clockwork.
As you move up, you do less and less design, and more and more business management. It is the only way to make a lot of money. You CAN'T have your cake and eat it. At least I don't know how anyone can do hands-on design and still make a lot of money. I don't know anyone who is able to do it. People who are promoted to higher positions as bosses, mostly DELEGATE work.
Really disappointed in this guy. I’m an architect and I am so happy pursued my passion.
Can you tell me what your starting salary was....and how is the work to personal time balance..... I'll be really grateful to know
Just why. Now I'm sooo lost
Fr
Ignire him
Just go for it if you are passionate! Don't overthink !!! Trust in yourself 💕
Don’t worry about it , that’s his opinion it’s ok you will have your own opinion about it too, you might have another view about it just invest in trusting yourself truly and walk slow and steady and just enjoy the ride and the places that your journey takes you and cherish them and don’t overthink about the destination.

This ain’t stopping me from my dream
Let’s make our dream come true brother and prove him wrong.
same here, my chemistry degree is not going smoothly, architecture was my first choice anyways and i will be shifting course this year
Architectss unitee!
Yaaaaa❤❤❤
Please don't use your life to destroy people's dreams of architecture
I wish I saw something like this before wasting my life on this crap. Waste of time, no return on investment.
So...please do. At least it's a heads up so people will research for themselves before jumping in this swamp called "architecture".

@BarAlexC I'm with ya, I gave up engineering for architecture and now I'm regretting it so hard it's unreal.

Everybody has a different perspective, if you love what you do and have faith and determination, even by selling gum pieces you can become succesfull, or why is it then that there is a gum brand called Trident? But again, a lot of determination is needed and in careers like this you gotta love it!!
Don't do it for the money, do it for the passion, you will be on the safe side.
When you have passion for something you will be a master of it and attract money 💰 ❤
To become an architect, you need to have strong imagination and creativity from birth! So if a person is born with these gifts can shine so better being an architect 😎
I totally agree with you!
Long hours of work and bad payments in general and in most countries! 😢😢 please do not study architecture if you want to have a good income!
World already have enough architects, but still have some rooms for civil engineers.
At least you get all the respect. In the UK, nobody respects the engineer.
So many engineers and engineer types
What do you mean little money
Oh ya over half a million a year is a small amount of money most Jobs will make you less money a year at least an architect would earn money 7 years to much oh didn’t realize that that 7 years is actually helpful
I just quit Architecture and never in my life been so happy and free
So what u doin now 😢
what ur job now?😢
I joined into apparel field.. working as an administrator now..
4th reason ai is gonna steal your job..😅
You really can’t convince someone to give up there career because you forgot that passion exists
You really think ‘follow your passion’ is good advice?
@@ArchitectRussell you know what no your videos prove it with the amount of cringe they are
You literally said that you became a CZcamsr because your lazy and you want money
I actually get more money as an architect than any architect I know ! 😂 I don’t even make money from YT
@@ArchitectRussell wow you're toxic.A reason I won't be trusting this video
I agree with you after spending 6 years at uni and got graduated , I am looking for an alternative career now , please think twice before choosing architecture, it seems to be arts and science , and creativity, but the reality is different.. I would rather suggest it more to people who are so patient, who re obsessed with it , who are ready to spend days nights and months in front the sceeen . Good luck .
Would you suggest any alternatives to studying architecture I was going to apply but now have second thoughts

Hello, im a 13-year-old , I really wanna become an architect but do you think it would pay well, or not, would the hard work pay off or not?
@@hazyofficalyes, don’t listen to him. If he’s making CZcams videos he is not a good mentor. Go for your dreams, if u work hard trust me it will pay off. I have the same dream as you.. good luck brother ❤️
You take more than 11 years to be a doc though 😅
Always take something matching your Vibes and energy instead of wasting your time on things you are not passionate and talented with and then tell other not to do it as well just because it wasn't the best for you .
Im in the 8th semester of architecture engineering and i choose a specialization on structures so i think im not that bad then x.x
ARCHITECT AND THE BUILDER! THEY ARRIVE CALMLY DOWN THE ESCALATOR WITH A SENSE OF PURPOSE!
The most important thing to achieve greatest success is to make more mistakes before starting an actual living.
Your breaking our dreams you shouldn't don't break anyone's dream in every jobs you need hard work, study, money most important patient
When bills and cost of living hit, they don't care about dreams.
Check your local market, search practices and talk to the people there. Ask how their life as architects is.
Tell your stomac to have patience, or to a young kid that requires a lot... you can't.
your dreams mean nothing in the face of despair
Nah I'm in my last class of drafting and design and I love it to death 75% of the people in the intro class dropped out because of how hard it was
As an art kid for like 5 years on-going nothings going to stop me. It's my passion to become an architect now.
The world is telling me not to become an architect, I do love spiting the world though so this is perfect for me!
If your worried about payments tho iam pretty sure u start at a pretty bad salary but the more experience u get the more money u will get
True
Do not let me get discouraged 😅😮😊
This wont stop me
PLS DONT CHOOSE ARCHITECTURE AT ALL!! EVEN IF YOU LIKE IT!! PLS DONT WORST CAREER ZERO PAY ZERO FUN FULL SLAVERY
Switching from education to architecture… anything is an upgrade tbh 🥴
Not just cuz u failed mesns everyone will, dont put ppl down man, give ur advice in better way, not by letting alot of ppl like me and many others get afraid and disappointed. . Btw 7 yeard of studies means nothing, money too, as long as i will be dling what i love for the rest of my life, and so many others ppl think too.
Omg I wanna be an architect this cheered me up so much thanksss💪
This video was making me disappoint...tnx for the cmt...🥺
@@Lin_xian don't give up ! ✨️

It’s the endless school work and 3-4 separate math classes that you have to go through in college, that would get me.
This wont stop me from reaching my goals. This is just a random guy who is just filming for content. Dont listen to him, u just need hard work and pation. So dont let this guy fuck up your dreams!
This video still won't stop me from studying this major.
Jokes on you this makes me wanna be an architect even more
you shouldnt discourage people who want to be an architect
aint stopping lmao
Boo mother fucking woo. I’m doing it anyway. I have no limits. Follow your dreams, people. Forget about the limiting beliefs of others and do YOU.
I want to be an architect but when i watch this i feel disappointed 😢
Exactly memes and videos like this puts me down idk what to do, if it's really worth it or not people say if I have the determination I can do it but it really isn't just that and they don't understand they just put these terms like determination passion and shit and videos like these aren't helping me either😭😭😭 I wanna talk to an architect so I really know the situation honestly
That aint not stopping from following my dream even tho im only13
this won't stop me
I think this men is a doctor thats why he understands architecture
thank u for the info! pls keep em comin.
Thanks very much
That sounds like hell
Why 7 years? What I know for the bachelor degree of an architecture takes 4 years!!
May someone reply me ! I’m a new student of an architecture faculty.
Well you ate are not an architect after that
This won't stop me 😂
THATS IT IM GOING TO SHOW THIS TO MY PARENT
Could you do a 3 good things about being an architect if you have not yet please?
I think I’ve done many like that
This won't stop me
I have always said this to anyone who has just got their bachelors in architecture and wants to get a masters. Dont get an M.A in architecture. Instead get an M.Sc in energy in buildings. Its nothing like architecture. Imagine civil and mechanical engineering had a love child. Thats what it is. When getting an msc in energy in buildings you study thermodynamics, heat tranfer, and fluid mechanics. Your taught a variety of different subjects from construction technology to construction materials to building facilities and building systems ,Hvac systems to building physics to even urban planing there is this class on the curriculum called energy management in cities and it teaches you the basics of traffic and transportation and what urban canyons are and how heat and air transfers is, and what itself in different street canyons is like and etc.... the softwares you use are not even architecture based they are either softwares used by mechanical or chemical engineers. Like ansys. Transys and its plugin fluent. Or simpler ones like designbuilder or any other energyplus powered softwares. Your salary will be two times that of an architect. You have a wide range of choices from being a building energy modeler to a hvac systems engineer or if you wish for a more laid back job you can work as a building energy auditor. Or an energy consultant. You get to work in both private and public sectors. You will work along with mechanical engineers. Infact you will be doing exactly what they do. (When it comes to facilities in buildings). most of the time your employers are going to be from the energy sector. Either petroleum based or tech or government regulatory agencies. Wonderfull decision i made infact ive forgotten nearly everything i was taught about architecture during my bachelor years. Never looked back since.
Energy is certainly the future. I’ve forgotten what I learned too!
Hello if I may ask, what uni's do you recommend that offer energy in buildings? I would like to compare and look at curriculums.
Sir I would like to ask if do architects always travel a lot? Do they have enough time for their family or for themselves?
They don’t travel at all really most of the time on the computer . Sure if you work for a firm you just do your hours .
@@ArchitectRussell Oh thank you for your response ❤️ I might asked more questions from your amazing channel☺️
Sir, Do architects have dayoffs?
Staring at computer most of the time
That's why I quit
@@hazelhang4615 It's very dependant on the country. I hear 7/7 working days in places like India. Japan is also terrible.
EU is decent, a lot of worker protection. I had fair employers in that aspect (before I quit it altogether).
I told everyone I know that I'm going to be an architect, it sounds cool and I feel like I'm going to be a millionaire once I finish college but then tonight, just tonight reality hits me and dozens of video tells me to not pursue this career. Idk im so lost right now. I only like architecture because I'm good at drawing and it sounds cool. Maybe I'll think of another career to pursue, might stay away at architecture for now...
I’m still a senior in HS and was looking to major in architecture bc I love math and art. I also already have some years of experience with making 3-d models online and irl.
I’m so lost too though… I thought I wanted to be an architect for years.. but after witnessing a class being held at one of the colleges I was admitted to now I just don’t know. ): It just rlly seems like you need to know so much to be an architect and the pay isn’t even that good 😞 life seems like a lie rn
@@Imjustcruising
[Excuse my poor English]
I can relate with that so much. I'm currently taking STEM as a strand rn in hs and we are already in second Sem. Quite nervous since my mates already know what degree they are choosing while there is me who's completely lost and scared. I still have some time to think my last 2 options is to pursue FINE Arts and become a Animator/artist and get money from commission(Art are not so popular in my country and being as an artist I won't be able to give much money to my parents nor do I can live properly) or I can choose Digital/Mechanical Engineering even though I'm not so confident about my math skills. Really need to think this one out.
Anyway sorry for that long comment.
Goodluck on your endeavors and hav a nice day.
@@erennotsoyeager3806 Crazy. Likewise, I wish you luck in whatever you choose to do. I’m graduating from HS this Saturday and I still don’t know what I want to go for as a career.
@Imjustcruising hey there, what are doing now since you graduated Highschool?
@@prettyboishah2898 doing great, thanks for asking. Now I'm studying civil engineering 1st yr. I messed up a couple of times and got tons of low scores but hey I'm still surviving.
The people designing these modern abominations have studied their vocation for 7 years? What the hell are they learning?!
This 3 reasons wont stop me from being an architect my dream
i aint given up on mg dream no matter what they say.
If everyone had your perspective, the world would probably never pass stoneage.
The reason 3 got me thinking , I’d I’m not designing then what I’m I going to do after all those years of study ?
This wont stop me and my cousin
I wont give up
I do really love architecture ...but studying day and night for 7 years ...not only that getting professors rejection and then after graduation clients rejection...with a low payment...is it really worth it? In the name of love for architecture should i be really willing to sacrifice everything..
Only if you really enjoy it- I did a vid on about is it worth it
It's hard to decide when it comes to pursuing a dream and yet being practical, it's about practicality and passion but I think I'll just do what I love, architecture, I won't totally depend on it when it comes to earnings.
It's not the job that makes us rich but our hard work ♥️
I can’t believe someone can give this kind of advice. Disgusting! Guys don’t listen to him. Anything great takes time and a lot of efforts. I’m an architect myself and I love it 🥰 humanity needs us!
Architecture student or an employee?
If you are not passionate about it why did you choose it . Look for another job and don't crash the drives of those who want to pasiu it.
what the hell is this?if you cant nobody cant?it just take 3 to 4 years for me to find some clients and stard my own career,if you choose architecture just becuase parents told you or reason like this, sure, listen to this man and run away..
Maybe ur. Or actualy a good arcetech
A lot of you in the comments say dedication when in reality it’s consistency and connection motivation and the spirit
Very very true
The money... I need to re-evaluate my choices. We all know at the end of the day want to get pay well.
Bruh it was never about the money it's not st I lived in like 5 houses in ga and every single one had some type of bad design that ruins something else in the house like how doors and walls are placed I was at a house where the fridge was alr in the house in its spot and the wall was block you from opening the freezer because it was a two door side by side fridge n it sucked squeezin in to get shi but look besides det other houses had some type of design that ruined it like bathroom placement it's all a mess
Idek why i want architecture 😔
Still not stopping me
Sir right now I am losing my passion. I’m already at my final year of studying Architecture but not really great on it. I feel like I wasted much time. I’m having a lot of doubts about me if my skill is enough to pursue this career. I just want to live and earn enough money to live. Should I still continue this course? I feel like after graduating, I want to try doing other business instead. Plus I’m not a great speaker and not a communicator. I noticed that I am an introvert and dealing with clients and expressing my thoughts can put a hard time for me. Anyone here who has an experience can tell me what it feels like after graduating. Is it rewarding? I have many questionss. 😢
Btw should not use Magic Mouse for cad…
Is it 7 years for the highest degree cause everywhere I look it says 4 years
Edit: I want to design theme park rides so would architecture be the thing to go for
Could be but it’s quite specialty - you probably don’t need an architect for that
More mechanical engineering I guess.
I don’t want to build houses, buildings, apartments, stuff like that. I’m more interested in building smaller things, like a canopy for the backyard. What this called? Like are you an architecture person or is it called something different?
If can stills be an architect or even just a designer
you will come out if your degree building house models, you d be lucky to get a say in the design process
3 reasons not to be a boxer.
Um this won’t stop mee
I applied as a drafter to the city for $16.50/hr, and the lady at the front desk told me she makes $18.00/hr processing permits.
Im an architect and i only studied 5 years not 7
I’m thinking of studying that but have no idea of what I will face.
@@saulcarvajal7911 same
I don’t want to do this anymore.
I'm in Tanzania now trying to establish myself as an architecture. But not very sure. Do you have any pointers?
Patience
All jobs have a dark side. If you study medicine, you will have to clean up an operating room, wash instruments, disinfect and store them, which is a job 10 times more boring than washing dishes by hand, you may have to rescue a drunk who smells of urine, hemorrhoidectomy or lower endoscopy for 10 people a day, working 60 hours per week and night shifts will keep you always absent from home, you must often face of the pains and the deaths of patients and the stress makes you down
Yes I did a video with a Doctor comparing
Thats why im choosing the engineering route
What type of engineer? There’s many.
The solution is to be self employed
I just quit interior design! Heading to my dreams to study animation and art!
Good luck
In my country people get architecture jobs done by civil engineers so,
just because your experience was bad doesntmean everyones will be
I prefer to do construction drawings even if given a choice to do design instead
That’s great. You don’t need to be an architect then.
He’s probably one of the architectures that don’t make it high in business and didn’t have any of this stuff so now he’s making other people not want to
Probably

What for?
Wonder why is it a bad degree to pick. It seems those red tape similarities to psychology for a phd and bad job market.
What's wrong with producing construction drawings for years?
Nothing- if you are happy doing that
