Shirin Neshat Photography / Lyrics by Tahereh Ghoratolein

Mohsen Namjoo is an Iranian singer-songwriter, author, musician, setar player and actor-born in 1976 in Torbat-e Jam, a small town in northeastern Iran. New York Times called Namjoo Iran's Bob Dylan. His music and words are very emotional and, in his works, he creates a fusion between various styles from traditional Iranian to blues and rock .
Lyrics by Tahereh Ghoratolein, a remarkable classic poet, born in 1817, a brave and brilliant Iranian woman, and one of the founders of the Baha'i religion, which teaches unity and one-worldism. She was the first Persian woman to unveil herself in public. This happened in 1848 and as a result of this crime and her Baha'i faith, the Shah of Iran sentenced her to death in 1853.
I would explain all my grief,
Dot by dot, Pain by pain,
Word by word, point by point....
If heart to heart we talk
And face to face we meet.
To catch a glimpse of thee,
I am wandering like a breeze,
From house to house, door to door,
Place to place, street to street.
In separation from thee,
The blood of my heart gushes out of my eyes,
In torrent after torrent, river after river,
Wave after wave, stream after stream.
This afflicted heart of mine,
Has woven your love to the stuff of life,
Strand by strand, thread to thread.
I - Táhirih - searched my heart,
I looked line by line, leaf by leaf,
What did I find?
You and you, you and you.
Poet: Táhirih Qurratu l-`Ayn (1817 -1852) Translated by kamya64

This beloved poem is by Hazrate Tahireh, the beautiful Persian poet, writer, suffragette and lover of humanity, who was murdered by the Nasir-el-din Shah goons for her beliefs!! What an incredible rendition of it!!!
Hüzün dolu gönlüm, aşkını can kumaşına dokumuş,
İplik iplik, sicim sicim, tel tel, aheste aheste…
O güzel yüzünü görebilmek ümidiyle sabâ rüzgârı misâli dolaşıp durmuşum,
Ev ev, kapı kapı, sokak sokak, mahalle mahalle…
O nazik dudaklarının çevresi…yanaklarında misk-i anber kokan tüyler…
Hüzün dolu gönlüm, aşkını can kumaşına dokumuş,
İplik iplik, sicim sicim, tel tel, aheste aheste…
Tâhire, kendi gönlünü dolaştı da senden başkasını bulamadı,
Sayfa sayfa, perde perde, kat kat…

Translation (version 2), courtesy of Arthur J Arberry (thank you,
Hassan Salek Rezaei):
If ever confronting face to face my glance should alight on you
I will describe to you my sorrow for you in minutest detail.
That I may behold your cheek, like the zephyr I have visited
house by house, door by door, lane by lane, street by street.
Through separation from you my heart’s blood is flowing from my eyes
river by river, sea by sea, fountain by fountain, stream by stream.
My sorrowful heart wove your love into the fabric of my soul
thread by thread, thrum by thrum, warp by warp, woof by woof
Tahira repaired to her own heart, and saw none but you
page by page, fold by fold, veil by veil, curtain by curtain.
Namjoo : must stop to become CLOWN in the middle of his very beautiful mélodies , other wise his song is splendide
And the lyrics also deep as the melody, thanks for writing here

There is no respect in Georgia now.
What can I say. It breaks my heart the beauty of the melody and the poet. You can fly the space with this. Thank you; I wish I could have a communication with such a tasteful person.
Omfg. What a song

Jenabeh Tahereh, the beautiful Persian poet, writer, lover, suffragette!

beautiful song and poetry, is there a story behind this poem? Thanks
This poem was written 200 years ago by a Muslim women who became the follower of an Iranian prophet by the name of Báb. She was executed due to her beliefs and conversion to the religion of Báb.

@@hannahleila ah interesting, thanks a lot!
@@hannahleila her name is Tahereh! The Baha’i’ community around the world over revere her as one of the early believers in Bab and his teachings - Baha’i’s believe the Bab as the herald of their religion similar to John the Baptist (The Bab means The Gate). Besides her revolutionary beliefs, Tahereh was an Iranian, and perhaps the world’s first, suffragette, and a poet, a writer, and a great beauty by all accounts, and she finally lost her life for her strong passionate beliefs. I believe this song was written for and about The Bab whom she followed but never did get a chance to meet in person.
