  • I have been working on this for the last 8 months and needing to hit so many frequencies can be difficult. Hopefully with the help of this video and the measurements in the PDF I have shown you that constructing your own 5G antenna is posable with some basic tools and a little time.

    Nice build! Glad to see you back with a new release. The antenna channels available on YT are quickly becoming fewer and further between.
    A question I’ve been wanting to ask pertains to your test bench. Is your analyzer Scalar? I ask because I have been seeing a number of HP Scalar Network Analyzers with ranges into the 60ghz for next to nothing. And they are in great condition.
    There are a few videos around on the differences between Scalar and Vector N.A. If in all your free time you might record some thoughts on the topic, a lot of us will be greatly appreciated. I thought you had before but I looked in past videos and didn’t find it.
    Thanks for the great video. If ever you’ve the time, I know myself and a few other viewers would appreciate the opportunity to pick your brain during a live stream. Something to consider. Glad to see you’re still with us.

    Amazing!!! just a few questions 1) it is feasible to add more directors? 2) does the size of the reflector have to be 130mm or could be more? 3) What's the average swr for this antenna unfortuantely my VNA doesn't analyse above 1.5ghz so it's a bummer 4) Would there be any noticeable gains in increasing the thickness of the material say 2-3mm for all elements. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Andrew, it would be fantastic if you could do a video on filters. Addressing how to filter out noise with and without amps such that you have looked at before.
    I used to develop Drones for my old company here in Singapore using the 433mhz freq for controlling and tellemitry and I used a 2.4ghz frequency for the video and control of other drones due to regulations with a 10watt amp and a directional biquod antenna.
    So Addressing filtering out additional noice is very important while having a powerful yet compact mobile set up.
    Thanks as always
    Chris

    Hi there, thank you for the very elegant design. @ 3.40 you mention a simple aluminium jig to align the 37mm vertical tubes prior to soldering. you state that the jig is made with "5mm". Is that correct? Again many thanks. May I also ask the height of the elements?

    do thickness of brass play any role in quality or range drastically ?

    • @andrewmcneil
      @andrewmcneil  Před 3 měsíci +3

      If you use thicker brass say 3mm on the reflector you would get a better front to back ratio (0.5 db)

    Will this effect the frequency being that the square plate seemed warped?

    Does anyone know is there such a thing as a fractal (flat) antenna for 5g LTE..I would love to have a series of flat antennas on the inside of my top floor window to suck in mobile internet. Appreciate any thoughts. I only ask about fractal antenna as its flat and would be easily mounted on a window pane..thx

    I have to build one of these and put it in my tree in my front yard. It's 150' up. What do I need to do to reduce signal loss? Or is there no way something like this will work to be fed into my house as a repeater?

    • @luc5543
      @luc5543 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Get an outdoor 5G router such as Huawei CPE Win or ZTE MC7010, there'll be no signal loss since there is no coax. At these frequencies signal can bounce off walls etc and the usual "height is might" might not necessarily apply.

      Copper is a slightly better conductor than brass but you will not notice any difference in the real world. You can use copper I just like working with brass.

She turns a length of coaxial antenna into a path for transmission and receiving.
