Those text messages at the end were painful. Stolas tries so hard to have a real relationship while Blitzø hardly puts in any effort. And Blitzø's "He can get HURT?" line, that really made my heart sink. Blitzø never once considered that an immortal prince like Stolas could get hurt physically at all, let alone hurt in a relationship. It really makes you think about how Blitzø sees him. His facial expression and tone of voice suggest that he does care for Stolas, even if he's terrible at showing it.

Loona's appointment took so long to get because it's in the Sloth ring. Also, If you're wondering why Loona doesn't have any lines here, sadly it's because her voice actor's fiancée passed away before the recording of the previous episode and Vivzie gave her some time off to grieve. It's why she doesn't appear in the next few episodes either. I wish her the best.

While the VA’s loss did occur, that event is wholly unrelated to why Loona had so few lines and I wish this speculation wasn’t still so widespread. This has been a long-running fan rumor that was disproven by Vivzie on her Twitter account awhile back (July 11th of last year is the specific thread I recall reading, though the tweet she was responding to has since been deleted). She clarified that if a character’s role in an episode wasn’t significant, it was sometimes better for their budget to not have that character speak in the episode (as in: use actual words), which often applies to Loona. Loona being limited to mostly grunt sounds in this episode was intended to showcase her “puppy” side, while saving a bit on budget; it wasn’t out of some deliberate effort to limit the specific VA’s presence

The fact that "Blitzø" was going to be Stolas' last words.
It’s interesting how calm and almost cocky Stolas was when he was first kidnapped, but I think it was because he was so confident that Blitzø would save him. (similar to the Loo Loo Land episode).
He only got scared when he realized he couldn't use his powers, and more importantly, that Blitzø wasn’t coming.

Stolas is just beating around the bush with his wall of texts, and they’re probably hard for Blitzø to understand. And between that Blitzø’s self-hatred, Blitzø is taking the ambiguity in Stolas’ words the worst way possible.
Stolas always masks how he truly feels and minimizes himself, and at least with the aftermath of Ozzie’s he inadvertently minimizes Blitzø’s feelings as well.
They’re having a problem where their trauma responses are clashing badly and they really need an honest and direct conversation, but neither of them are good at that.

Yeah, at this point in their lives, they really aren't ready to do anything about their relationship. And tbh, they probably won't be ready in the Full Moon episode either. Hopefully it will be a step in the right direction, but Blitz has a lot of old baggage to work through and Stolas has literally never been able to have a real single adult life until the divorce. He seems more put together than Blitz, but he very much needs to take page from Loona's journey and get some friends, maybe join a book club, and ideally get some therapy.

I mean Stolas has put himself out there for Blitzø very clearly a few times now. Mainly him offering to talk, Watcha a movie, or cuddle at the end of episode 7 in season 1. Blitzø has such high walls put up to protect himself for getting hurt. That’s why he is so obsessed with Moxie and Millie’s relationship, because he doesn’t know how to have a healthy relationship with anyone. When Moxie and Blitzø are hallucinating we learn that Blitzø pushes everyone away until they lose all love and care for him. In the music video of Stolas “Look My way” I think it’s called, Stolas feels the same way Verosica did in the hallucination when he sings about how they will both grow cold if Blitzø keeps pushing him away. We know the root of Blitzø’s abandonment issues too after the Ozzie’s episode. Not just his mother but his sister hates him and so did Fizz. He’s scared of commitment and scared too care too much about someone. He says during the hallucinations as well that “eventually everyone leaves”. Just so sad.

the fact that at the end with the texts between stolitz it seems to be a very one sided relationship with only stolas making the effort
and the petals falling from the flowers are giving me very “he loves me, he loves me not” vibes 😭
    25:37 - he loves me
30:57 - he loves me not
    32:01 - he loves me
32:21 - he loves me not
ending on “he loves me not” is probably stolas’ perspective as blitz is distancing himself from their relationship, even though it’s almost impossible that blitz hasn’t caught at least some feelings

There's actually another petal falling in the scene (I don't remember when exactly), which is not very visible, or we could say, is kinda hidden. This means, at the end, it's "he loves me". @gracec8c Před 2 měsíci +38

There's so much underpinning the "he can get hurt" line. Like there's the obvious literal Stolas isn't immune to damage angle. But even beyond that, we know from Blitz's trip dream sequence, that he sees Stolas as this grand almost godly princely figure. And in a way, Blitz likes him that way. He's easy to interact with that way. Because to Blitz who has seemingly imploded every relationship in his life, a distant prince he can't hurt is perfect. He can't fuck it up because Stolas is immune to damage.
But that isn't true, Stolas can be hurt (both physically and emotionally). He might be a rich, powerful owl demon thing, but in the end he's just a dude who has feelings and all that comes with it. Blitz now has to grapple with the fact that not just that Stolas can be hurt broadly, but that Blitz can be the one to do it (and has hurt him before). God I love these messes.

Stolas is actually pretty terrible at communication here, especially in those text messages. He has a tendency to backpedal and not say what he means or wants due to his own fear of being too honest, but all that does is confuse Blitzø. They have a really awful tendency to miscommunicate because Stolas relies on using actions to imply feelings but Blitzø hates himself so much that he can’t ever read those implications correctly. He literally cannot understand the concept of Stolas having feelings for him, and those texts just prove that. Stolas is trying to give Blitzø more choice in their full moons (you don’t have to come!) but Blitzø is reading it as Stolas being to polite to say he doesn’t want Blitzø to come over.

WE know Stolas has been in love with Blitzø since they were kids, WE know that Stolas was in a loveless abusive arranged marriage and completely closeted before that
WE know he’s *always* been this kind hearted, protective, gentle (slightly airheaded and oblivious) creature to the people he loves (Via and Blitzø)
Before this, during Ozzies, all Blitzø knew was that Stolas is a prince he met a long long time ago who had something useful for him, and loves kinky sex-he’s not thinking of the way they’re *comfortable* around each other or desperately trying not to anyway. Because god fucking forbid he get attached to a *prince*, once the novelty wears off he’ll drop Blitzø like everyone else does (from his perspective).

Blitzø does show that he cares since he rammed the gear and headed his way and also his complaining while dragging Loona into the hospital.
At the end, Blitzø texted first! That’s a start! And the fact he was typing something was also meant he had more to say but idk maybe got scared, he does probably blame himself that Stolas got so hurt. Maybe was even typing that he was sorry he wasn’t there.
The pedals falling seem like “he loves me, he loves me not”
In this episode, there’s so many fun crazy facts about the voice actors. Since Norman Reedus couldn’t return as the voice of Stryker because of his other work, they had Edward Bosco takeover to voice him, which is cool that Vivienne told not to be Norman Reedus, but to be his version of Stryker making striker his character alone. Edward Bosco voiced Alastor in the pilot of Hazbin hotel and Millie‘s dad and the bouncer at Ozzies and Dennis who suck face with Blitzø. Also Vivienne Medrano voiced both the nurse receptionist, and the Karen that was having an argument with Blitzø . And the actor for Valentino in Hazbin Hotel, Joel Perez, voiced the doctor and the part of the striker band that sings at the end, along with the voice actor for Angel Dust in Hazbin Hotel, Blake Roman who voices another member of the striker band, but I don’t know what his lines were. Also Loona doesn’t speak in this because her voice actress Erica Lindbeck had a loss in the family but I don’t know much about that so I don’t know what the story is, but really didn’t need her to talk anyway, because her character makes sense doing the whimpering And growling in this episode. I don’t know all the facts but hopefully this was cool to know.

    I forget if we were ever told the real/full reason behind it, but you’ll notice Loona has no voice-lines in Episodes 3&4 of Season 2. All instances you’d think she should speak in, are replaced with her shrugging or flipping off the cast, or with dog/wolf stock sounds. Loona’s VA is the renowned Erica Lindbeck, who’s been in countless cartoons, anime, and videogames over the last 2 decades. There were 3 speculations as to why Loona’s been mute in these episodes;
    1. Lindbeck is no longer working with the Helluva Boss crew.
    2. Vivziepop’s team can no longer afford her.
    Or 3.
Lindbeck’s presumed fiancée, Billy Kametz passed away 2 years when the recording for these episodes would’ve been done, and so Lindbeck might’ve been-understandably-grieving his passing, and wanted to step away from this project.

  • @niccilefevre
    @niccilefevre Před 2 měsíci +4

So my interpretation of Blitzøs reaction is that he really loves Stolas (also if you look at the pictures on Blitzøs phone there's one of him taking a happy selfie with him and Stolas while Stolas is asleep, directly showing his love for him).
The problem is (like you said) that he has a lot of self hate, stemming from complicated roots, like his childhood upbringing as well as traumatic occurrences he blames himself for.
In lulu land and then the dhorks episode Blitzø gets the idea of his true power and how Stolas doesn't need him to protect him. Despite his reaction Blitzø likely got self esteem from being a "protector/savior" (think luni as well) so it's a blow when he finds out it was a sham.
Then in this episode he ends up sending m&m to save Stolas, likely thinking, like the past times, that Stolas doesn't absolutely need help. When he finds out Stolas gets hurt he blames himself for not going and helping.
He sends the message as a sort of Blitzø apology but Stolas inviting him to see him probably scares Blitzø. Not replying or coming to see him comes off as him being an asshole but Blitzø is afraid of hurting Stolas more than he has.
This is, in general, the reason he pushes Stolas (and others) away. He's hurt people he loves in the past, and knows how he is, so he distances himself from loved ones because he sees it as the lesser of two evils. Blitzø is protecting Stolas from Blitzø.
Trying not to spoil anything for you lol but I definitely hope they work out and both get to heal. I seriously love how they handle the psychology in this show and one of the later episodes helped me have an epiphany myself.

So a big thing to remember, Blitzø is COMPLETELY self taught through context clues on reading and writing, and even with speech he only knew what his father taught him… and lets just say he knew little and taught less. Blitzø likely understands less than half of what is written in those msgs, and with his lack of ability to share and his false understanding that this is an entirely hookup related thing… well… the msgs sadly make sense
And when i say self taught, i mean taught based off of the billboards and advertisements that he saw around the circus. He had no books, no starting point, and most of those items he learned from were badly spelled as well. Honestly the fact he can do the horse storyboarding is a miracle

Man, no matter how many times I see it, it still surprises me how misunderstood & mischaracterized Blitzø is by the fandom.
Stolas' initial texts about Ozzie's are NOT actually very good communication lmao. The moment Blitzø questions why he would want to talk about it (which is kinda valid bc Blitzø thinks Stolas only likes him as an "impish little plaything" so why would he want to talk about it?) Stolas just completely backtracks and tries to people-please rather than be direct about his own wants or needs. In doing so, Stolas ends up making light of the incident at Ozzie's which is something that deeply hurt both of them.
Over the course of s2 and these text messages, Stolas' communication DOES start to get better. BUT, you are right that Blitzø own self-hatred is playing a big part here in them not being to communicate with each other properly. Unless Stolas is DIRECT AS POSSIBLE, Blitzø likely will not take any of his beating around the bush or subtleties as anything other than Stolas not wanting to see him and being too polite to say, "fuck off."
Now, this isn't to say I don't think Blitzø hasn't made mistakes or has flaws because obviously he has and does. What I AM saying is that Blitzø is a character that often gets very misunderstood by the fandom. He has his own trauma responses that he has lived with for years. And they clash HORRIBLY with Stolas' own trauma responses.
And trust me, I say this as someone who responds the same way as Stolas does. I react, speak, and text exactly like him when I get upset, am trying to avoid conflict, or am struggling to express myself. But I also know that overexplaining, minimizing, and beating around the bush isn't very helpful or direct. Especially if it's with someone like Blitzø who is half illiterate, probably doesn't like to read paragraphs of text, and has such a self-loathing issue that anything other than direct confirmation that he's wanted will be interpreted as negative.
Obviously Blitzø has plenty of character growth and work to do too so he can start fixing these aforementioned issues, but I honestly think he's done most of the healing that he can do by himself. He's been alone (besides Loona & M&M which he kinda keeps at arm's length) for YEARS now. He can't get any farther by himself.
What Blitzø needs is a support system. To let people IN and start allowing them to be there for him when he needs it. And that can include Stolas and a relationship together too! Yes, a relationship can't "fix someone" and Stolas should not be "responsible" for "fixing" Blitzø, but Stolas being his bf & part of his support system does not have to mean that.
In conclusion, I will defend Blitzø AND Stolas to the death, but this fandom continually misunderstands & mischaracterizes Blitzø without even trying to look at things from his perspective.

Something I thought about was that Stolas and Blitz have a very...unique experience in the bedroom. All that talk about bear traps and using sharp objects made me think that Stolas enjoys feeling what pain he can since it's so difficult for a Goetia to experience it. Because of that, Blitz has spent all this time using regular-ass bear traps and knives and whatnot and seeing Stolas 'act' in pain but then get up like it was nothing.
Of course the prince couldn't get hurt! Blitz hurting him is normal, and Stolas has never cracked before!
I think Blitz has never considered that even though the toys they use in bed can't hurt Stolas, other things can bring him pain, like blessed rope and angelic weapons, and Blitz himself.

Being raised in the circus, it is assumed that blitz never got a good education, meaning that he's probably somewhat illiterate. Meanwhile stolas texts in such a sophisticated way that blitz might not know how to respond. On top of that, Blitz is purposefully trying to stay distant from stolas because he has so much self hatred that he thinks he will hurt stolas in the end. I love the "really can't say that word" anymore line i think it's a reference to some backlash the pilot got for using it

Moxxie, thinking: Striker does give me the same vibes as my father. I wonder if....
    Moxxie, out loud: *Harder!*
    Striker: 👿
Moxxie: Guess running into Chazz again was good for something. 😏

In regards to healthcare taking place on the Sloth ring: Vivziepop’s native Australia and most places with socialized medicine apparently take forever to get any kind of nonemergency treatment. It’s fair, I mean, when you’re getting it for free, or at least I think so, but it’s also a fair criticism.

While what you've said about socialized medicine can be true, Viv is definitely not from Australia. She's from Maryland, USA, of Salvadoran descent, and visited Australia for the first time in 2023.

@@jkhansen414 Wow, I wonder where the Australia thing came from? Like how my brain put that together so I thought it was a fact I knew?

Love how you were not worried too much at all once Stolas got captured. WTH!? 😆 Well, you haven't been in the fandom that long, hyped for this episode. So it makes sense. But still, how do you do it?!
    13:37 & 19:29: THERE WE GO! 😆

🌹"He loves me, he loves me not."
If you count the petals falling, it ends on "He loves me not."
This absolutely FUCKS MY HEART UP.

I love how they don’t tell you Blitz is illiterate but they show it. On the billboard at the beginning he uses speech to text, indicating he can’t write. Loona is the one that reads the Grimoire, Blitz doesn’t. You see that he hasn’t had any education while being in the circus and these text just add to the proof that Blitz is illiterate. He responds in short, general message that don’t confirm or deny much. Example; maybe, okay, whatever, etc. There is a good chance that this isn’t because he’s trying to avoid talking to Stolas or because he doesn’t care. It could be because he can’t read Stolas’ texts but is insecure and can’t ask for help. So he just responds in short, generic messages to avoid looking “stupid” (This is what he think of himself. People who have learning disabilities or didn’t have access to education ARE NOT STUPID)

Her brother is a marquis, meaning he is royalty but lower than Stolas a prince. He also has a knack for astronomy so he could do Stolas' job if anything happened to him and Octavia
