i know 3 people who all joined my unit at the same time- one from Hungary, Ethiopia, and Phillipines. And they all got their citizenship after filling out the application and taking the test. They all did it within the first 6 months they arrived after training. So you still have to initiate the process, but they help give you resources and im sure its much easier/quicker when you are already a service member!
