I was approached to write an original song for Dying Light 2 for their stream showing off the brutality update. I was delighted to oblige since this year I've not only been wanting to write more original music, but also really hone my vocals. The lyrics here really play around with one of the game's main mechanics in a way I thought would be poetic and fun. In the game, Ultraviolet is used to slow the progression of the disease. Since Ultraviolet isn't visable to the human eye, I used the imagry of a way out the struggle and to survive being veiled in ultraviolet, but you can't see it. I've always loved writing lyrics, but never get a chance to practice so this was fun.
I put a ton of effort into getting better at scream vocals and I feel really good about them here now. I went for a metalcore arrangement style to highlight both parts of my voice, I know it might not be for everyone, but I hope you can find something to like about it.

OK so my top of DL2 songs from worst to the best - 4) DAGames one - a song about someone's depressioin reality, and game words are just put in for an excuse of "hey Techland i id the song u payed me for lol", while in reality its an original songs with some random DL terms. 3) Johnathan Ultraviolet - Song is INDEED about the game but no sense at all aside of having bunch of game words and terms, which is more game related overall but still, eh... 2) Nightflyer by JT Music - Rap, funny, not really canon but at least not random and do explore the topics of game in a comic way, dude tried his best. But still a little, uh, off for the tone and not thematic enough. 1) This one by Jules takes it all! This song uses all of the themes game has, geek moments are here too but it also tells a story of survival and getting lost due to death of the close one of the song's "protagonist" if you will. And all of the lore terms and meanings are hidden subtly here, instead of literally screaming "nightrunners/virals/etc" like DAG and John did sadly. You're the hero the Velador needed Jules! Love it!
