ראש הממשלה שמע מאורן וליאת, הוריו של עומר ז״ל, על אופיו המיוחד של בנם הבכור ועל שירותו הסדיר כלוחם בחטיבת גולני.
ראש הממשלה השתתף בצער הכבד של בני המשפחה שאיבדו את עומר ז״ל לאחר שנפל בקרב ברצועת עזה, בעת שירותו כלוחם מילואים בחטיבת אלכסנדרוני.
רה״מ נתניהו התרשם עמוקות מדברי ההורים, שסיפרו על הרוח ותחושת השליחות של עומר ז״ל גם בשירותו הצבאי וגם כמתנדב בארגון מד״א, ועל תכונות הנתינה והעזרה שהיו נטועות בו.
לאחר שהאם ליאת ביקשה להעביר מסר של חשיבות האחדות בעם ישראל, האב אורן חיזק את דבריה ואמר לראש הממשלה:
״מדברים על דור המייסדים, אנחנו נחשפנו לדור מטורף - איזו ערכיות, איזו עוצמה של אנשים. המסירות הזאת, ההליכה עד הסוף זו הרוח הישראלית. רוב העם בעד לחימה עד הניצחון״.
ראש הממשלה אמר כי בנם היה גיבור, וכי ישראל תנצח במערכה בזכות הגיבורים הללו.
לראש הממשלה התלוו ר׳ הסגל צחי ברוורמן ומזכירו הצבאי אלוף רומן גופמן.
