- Our home revolves around the dinner table so we have to be very careful to plan! Also as the cost of food is rising we have to be strategic about making meals that are cost effective and healthy (and filling!) We like to have a balance of meat and bean protein. Also we purchase meat in bulk at Costco and we usually use ground beef as it is less expensive than other types of beef. Also on Saturday we celebrate our 100k youtube plaque! #largefamilymeals #largefamilylife #eating on a budget

You could make buttermilk. For every 1 cup of milk stir in 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar. Let it stand for 10 minutes or
mix a 1/4 cup of water and 3/4 cup of sour cream. Shake well. That’s two ways to make your own buttermilk when you are out.

Add a small amount of mustard to your salad dressing recipe to get the oil and liquid to emulsify together. Then you wont have super separated dressing

Add tomato and your choice of onion and you have cucumber salad. My grand mother would make home made vinaigrette but when she got older she would just marinate them in italian dressing and they were still good. She would also take vinaigrette soaked tomatoes and bake them with mozzarella cheese and they were so good. God bless you guys.

Friday night's meal about the tacos, in which you call them "gringo tacos", look great. I'm from Arizona and I was raised on Mexican food so maybe it wasn't authentic Mexican food but the meat you cooked was like the way that I make my tacos. The shredded beef that you mentioned ,which you usually get when you go into a restaurant, is rather hard to make so I think most people making homemade tacos use the ground beef. The only problem I saw in your description was perhaps the tortilla. Most tacos are made by hard shell tacos from corn tortillas, which are usually fried and then folded. However it seems that the street tacos are made out of flour or corn tortillas which are flat. Which tortillas did you use corn or flour?
We use corn usually! My kids do like the crispy ones too though.❤️

I actually went to the missions trip to Romania in 2010. As I recall, they also put chopped raw onions in their soup. Thankfully I like onions, so I tried it with them. It was actually pretty good.

Love watching your videos but listening to “healthier” many many times in a video, almost makes me feel bad for myself and others trying to just feed their families. It’s kind of funny listening to how you said you had all of the foods growing up. We all try to eat healthy on a daily but having something here and there is ok too🥰in this day and age, with grocery prices at a all time high, it’s getting harder to eat healthier. I am thankful that we live rural on 20 acres and at the end of raising 5 kids because I don’t know if we could afford to feed them like we have. We buy beef and chicken in bulk, order from Sam’s club, buy eggs from the neighbors, shred our own cheese and whatever else we can do but man, I feel for families trying to buy all the food in todays economy. My daughter does grocery pick up and has always spend $100 for her family of 4, in the last year she has had to almost double her weekly budget. Thank for all of the videos, they do add to my lifestyle more than you know.
Yes, we make some really economical meals with lentils that are only about $1.00 per person but not every meal is that way unfortunately!

Your youngest daughter Melody looks like she wanted a flat taco with basically only cheese. You are not specific in saying what type of tortilla you purchase. Were they flower tortillas or corn tortillas question? If you take a flour tortilla and put cheese on it and then put it in your broiler or a small toaster oven for a few minutes until the cheese melt it becomes a cheese crisp known as a quesadilla. This is a favorite mexican dish of many people and very simple to make.

Okay you weren't specific saying they were corn tortillas but that's is what most tacos are made out of. However recently street tacos have become popular and you can order them with flour tortillas and they are flat.
