ABOUT KEN HACKATHORN
Ken Hackathorn has served as a US Army Special Forces Small Arms Instructor, Gunsite Instructor, and NRA Police Firearms Instructor. He is currently an FBI Certified Firearms Instructor, and an SRT member and Special Response Team trainer. Ken has trained US Military Special Operations forces, Marine FAST and SOTG units and is a contract small arms trainer to FBI SWAT and HRT. Ken has provided training to Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies and been active in small arms training for the past 25 years. He has written firearms related material for Guns & Ammo, Combat Handguns, Soldier Of Fortune, and currently American Handgunner and contributed to at least six other gun/shooting journals. Ken was also a founding member of IPSC and IDPA.
I have used 4 of the single stage TTU’s. 1 was bad and was replaced by Wilson Combat. It was assembled incorrectly with the pin in backwards so that the notch that is supposed to help hold the spring on the left side was not there and the spring would constantly fall off causing malfunctions. When I called about another unit that I have that is also like that they told me that there is no warranty on the trigger units. To say that I’m disappointed in WC is an understatement. I also inquired about having a heavier spring installed in one unit to help it ignite 7.62x39 and was told that couldn’t be done which is too bad since they could dominate that sector of the market.

Bought 8 of the TTU’s single stage, M2 and Single stage for future builds. Been installing Geissele’s for years and can’t wait to feel the Difference.

I've been using WC TTUs for a great many years now and swear by them. I have four - all single stage.
When I get a new Glock, the first thing to go are the stock plastic sights.
On my ARs, a WC TTU replaces the stock FCG.
A three to three and a half pound trigger is just about perfect for shooting ( in my personal opinion ). I just find it to be very shootable. Funny, but I was 62 years old before I got my first AR. I still don't know why I waited so long.

I'm really considering getting this. There's a sale right now from an online retailer for 150 bucks. Currently running a cmc 3.5ibs single stage trigger that's pretty nice. Still have a mil-spec trigger in my ruger ar556 I've been wanting to upgrade.... This just might be the ticket.
now there is a singe stage trigger worthy of an AR-15 I just wish I could have one but being a low income poor. unless @WilsonCombat had a way I could "earn" a TTU single stage version. preferably with a flat trigger though...

Been debating buying a TTU single stage for awhile now. I’ve just been having too much trouble with geissele. The trigger reset is too unpredictable under fast paced CQB style shooting. I experience a lot of trigger freeze. Only thing that makes me nervous for the 4lbs ttu is bump fires. But 5-5.5 pounds is too large of a gap is there any suggestions which trigger would work best?
I've been running cmc 3.5" single stage drop ins for both my cqb platforms and longer range platforms and absolutely love it. There's practically zero concern regarding bump fires, especially once you get used to the trigger. What I love most about the trigger is that it's got the strongest, and most audible reset of any trigger I've ever bought / tried. This allows you much easier access to proper muscle memory. 3.5ibs sounds light, and I was sceptical at first but it's got one of the best and easily identifiable walls of any drop in trigger I've used and I've used ALOT. With its very strong reset it will kick your trigger finger right to the point where you would begin squeezing for the wall which helped kick the worry of any bump fire issues I may of had.
I have a springfeild saint vector chambered in 308 . this thing is like a brick .do you have a trigger assembly that will fit this riffle ? And if so which one to get a 3.5 pull?
Timney all the way! 3lb trigger. I run them on all my ARs never had a problem. They are crisp and short reset.
What are the advantages of a drop-in unit like this as opposed to 2 assembly triggers?
I like a 4-1/2 pound 2-stage trigger. Does this function any differently from an SSA? This is more economical, I generally trust Wilson Combat, just trying to figure out how this might be different (better or worse) than the expensive trigger I *know* I can count on to be safe, consistent, and accurate.
Besides ease of installation, going with a drop-in allows different geometry than the mil-spec, which can often improve the feel, and be more consistent than Stoner's design. For example, they don't have to use the receiver pin as a pivot for the hammer (some still do) or a fulcrum for the trigger. Many drop-ins can often give you some adjustment to deal with out-of-spec fire control pockets.
It's also better for end-users that aren't gunsmiths. Less to go wrong with the install, less to deal with in regards to warranty or support on a complete lower, etc.
@@Croak1 thanks for the on-point reply. Hadn’t thought about being able to modify pivot points. I’m very happy with a Geissele 2-stage SSA trigger, but this may well be a more affordable alternative.
