- Yeah, I know it's been awhile. I don't have much motivation to do more CinemaSins videos, but when this dropped, I knew I had to take care of it. Mario was pretty good, and CS, surprise surprise, made some mistakes criticizing it.
Disclaimer: I don't have much ill will towards CinemaSins, I just want to point out the many mistakes they've made in their videos.

To be perfectly honest, as much as I love this movie, there are some issues that Jeremy could've very easily mentioned and discussed in his video that he doesn't (like how the film could've been longer, Toad's underutilization, the inconsistent rules of the Super Star, etc.)

@@deandredunbar9618 Jeremy has admitted to not paying attention and hating many aspects of films, such as logos, narration, exposition, etc.
Also, he never removes sins when he gets new information.
He is very much like many of the people hating on the last three episodes of Doctor Who. If a film does something new, he complains, if they reuse an idea he complains.
His persona as CinemaSins definitely hates movies
9:44 And to add on to that, in the shot when Luigi drops into the dungeon, the skeleton of a Koopa is shown in a cage, so Bowser definitely isn’t concerned about feeding them.
This movie is WAY better than CinemaSins was letting on.
The same can be said for literally every movie ever made. Seriously, I'm certain his video on the worst movie ever (I won't tell you what) somehow managed to make it seem even worse.
My god, hearing Jeremy talk about this movie actually pisses me off. There is a reason I don't watch CinemaSins anymore. Glad you took the time to explain why all of his complaints are stupid!
I noticed Jeremy didn't sin the scene with "Take on Me" by a-ha, probably for copyright reasons, but also (maybe) because he found t flawless. I see it as an awesome scene since I love that song.
You had thr exact same thoughts I had when I watched this Cinemasins video. I am so glad I am not the only one who didnt like that video or at least how Jeremy sinned the movie
Missed Sentence: Jeremy either remains Bowser’s prisoner for eternity or becomes his bride for eternity
I love the fact that Jeremy could have made an easy sin that the generic old blue toad could have been Toadsworth but no he had to make sins about how a kids movie was made for kids and not a 18+ movie with sexual jokes.
This film is not made for critics. It's made for the fans.
Missed SinSins
1:00 This is clearly a reference to MarioKart. It even has the start of a race countdown sound.
1:32 The REAL Sin here is that lava is continuously flowing off the floating rock, as that should not be possible, as there is nowhere for the lava up to come from since it's floating rock.
2:37 Jeremy fails to catch on that the 64 clients is a reference to Mario 64, one of the most popular Mario games ever.
6:30 The REAL Sin here is that they had this random blue Toad with glasses as Peach's advisor instead of Toadsworth, Peach's canon steward.
10:21 The REAL Sin here is that they either got the lore wrong or they changed it, as DK is Cranky's grandson, not his son.
10:42 DK is obviously taking it easy on Mario here because he's toying with him to drag out the fight. Also, this scene is primarily referencing Smash Bros.
12:00 The REAL Sin here is that Peach dropped from a much higher height and was able to catch Toad who started falling earlier at a lower height. Heavier objects do not fall faster than lighter ones (excluding the object's material, like paper, which catch wind).
7:05 Jeremy, you Utter Buffoon, those are called Halberds!
You know, since he mentioned Swordless Link from OoT in the Wreck-It Ralph video, or Bomberman on Super NES in the Toy Story 2 video, I was kinda hoping he'd take some sins off for references he understood, but nope 💀
Another great video, and there are two things that I’d like to say:
1. I’ve just gotten started on my video for this movie, and I’ll leave another comment here when it’s up.
2. 0:47 I’m with you on that, because I assumed they’d sin the movie in November, since that’s what they did with The Bad Guys last year (which also came out in April).

Sinning Mario's rocky relationship with his folks?!? That's like sinning Kyle Gass for the scene in Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny where his mom calls saying: "Your father and I have decided not to send you any more rent checks", despite that making his & Jack Black's victory over the Devil that much more celebration worthy at the end!!
He also calls like half the game elements the wrong thing and doesn’t sin Lakitu not overseeing mario kart.
I’m starting to think this is the wrong guy to sin a video game movie.

I absolutely adored this movie. The animation and action, imho, are spectacular. And while the story is average, i dont think it really needed to be anything more since this is the first film. I loved almost every single performance, save for Cranky Kong. And it is so much fun spotting all the references and callbacks and seeing how much love and effort was put into this movie.
My one MAJOR complaint was the oversaturation of licensed music. The only ones i think fit was "No Sleep till Brooklyn" and "Mr. Blue Sky"
We did not need Take on Me, I Need a Hero, Battle Without Honor or Humanity, or Thunderstruck
I've heard The Cinema Sins writers are harsher on movies they think the public hates. Sometimes, they misread the public opinion. Sometimes rather severely.
They probably looked at the critic score.
Am I the only one who wants to use that powerful hammer in the Smash Bros games against Jeremy for his stupid video on this film?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has become the best selling switch game overall and the best selling Mario game overall, so of course they would include Mario Kart in the movie! Hell, my dad refers to Mario as Mario from Mario Kart! Jeremy don't know anything does he?
Jeremy’s sentence shall be facing off against Bowser, his army and Donkey Kong with them using the Power Up Star and without any cat suits or power ups to protect himself with. I see a few barrels over his head coming Jeremy’s way. If that were to be animated and made available to watch, I’d pay good money to see it.

to be honest, i really liked this movie, and if this movies was made to be a trial and error, i really hope they could fix the problems and flaws this movie has in a sequel, even if this movies was made for fans, i do think there are some critics that might be right, even from other fans... because, i don't wish this saga becomes something like Bay's Transformers but more childish
or even worse, something like Marvel today, if they plan to create the "animated Nintendo Cinematographic Universe" as a more direct promotion to Super Nintendo World (i think that could be like that, and those rumours wondering around the internet saying the possibles next adaptations might be, DK w/o Mario, Zelda and Star Fox, although I know that for the moment it is to be taken with a pinch of salt)
Also, I know that this film was produced by Illumination, a studio that is not popular for creating better stories and improving their sequels, but, maybe with getting the attention of a new audience with Mario, there might be some pressure to create something better for the next films
At least it’s adapting the film correctly since Mario games are not known for their stories and beloved for their gameplay and action. Sonic the Hedgehog on the other hand, while a good movie, is not a good adaptation. The only things it got from the games are Sonic, his super speed, Dr. Eggman, and Green hills. Other than that, it is mostly filler and new stuff not related to the games.

I am curious. You said in the description that you thought the movie was pretty good but your older video described your thoughts on the movie as "mid". Did you change your opinion on the film later on?
Yeah I did. I realized on my first viewing, I was trying to find problems with it, instead of just enjoying the movie, which I did when I saw it a second time.
That's why I call those videos "first thoughts", because I'm always open to the idea of changing my mind
I am in the camp of people who love this movie very much, but admit that the film has problems. It's a 7.5 out of 10 for me. Even my group I saw the film with at the movie theater with had mixed feelings at first, and I found myself agreeing with them on a lot of their complaints, but again because I am was a huge Mario fan in my youth, I found myself loving the film in spite of its flaws and I have seen this movie like at least a dozen times since then. I might do my own "Sinning CinemaSins" video on this on an alternate account.
I am also going to make it a tradition to watch this movie every year on Mario day (March 10th).

I've had the movie on Blu-ray since July. CinemaWins did a video on Mario in June no problem.
