It is so wonderful to still have these video's of the Jedi Masters of the automotive industry. Both Dave DeCourcey and Mac VanDebrink are amazing and to listen to them is awesome in how much they Love to teach and troubleshoot and we all just dream of having that much knowledge and confidence when dealing with so much technology when they see it as just a basic workflow. Thank god for these two and may they rest in peace knowing that they have helped so many even after their passing. Thanks so much to TST seminars for keeping these treasure alive and available.

These seminars are awesome. Not the greatest production quality, but that was never the intent. I believe the intent is to impart and document invaluable information. In that respect, they far exceed their goal. This is only the third video, and I'm just starting it, but I know I won't be disappointed with the content. I've been an automotive "hobbyist" for over four decades. I've been into electrical engineering and software/hardware/firmware tinkering for just as long. I have learned more about vehicle computerization, in less than five hours, from these guys, than I've learned in the last three decades by myself actually maintaining my own vehicles. My wife's "new" 2013 Tahoe had me worried because of the complexity (vs my 1990 Camaro OBD1, and 2000 Camry OBD2). I'm confident that what I can learn from these seminars will allow me to maintain the Tahoe, and be much more proficient with my existing fleet, including my project 66 GMC restomod dreams. I've been using DVMs and oscilloscopes for decades, and I know how to use them, but I never dreamed you could glean so much information from a scope waveform through simple tests using current clamps and capacitive pickups, as well as the standard test probes. I can only imagine how much frustration/money/time I could have saved myself ten years ago with my L98 powered car with failing fuel injectors by doing 30 minutes worth of testing using equipment I already had in the house. Thank God for third gen.org, moates.net OBD1 cables and whoever wrote tunerpro. Now, I can add these seminars to the short list of things that have made it possible for me to avoid the incredible expense of a service bay bill and being at the mercy of a parts changer. I've got plenty of mechanic diagnostic tools, but the scope is going to become a go to item from now on.

I got an ASA email awhile back that stated Dave unfortunately passed. I wish I got a chance to take some classes with him or even buy him a beer. He really was very intelligent. I took notice when he talked about taking that electronics course. I think that is very forward thinking and something we all should be looking at for ourselves. Armando, gloves weren't a thing til late 1980's. I started in 1984, and we blew brake and clutch dust into a fog inside the shop, we had our hands in nasty solvent all day, inefficient exhaust system in shop... Not good. Dave joins some of the older guys i worked with. He talked so fast that he compressed 8 hour class into 3 hours; and not 1 boring minute.
When a guy says hey look it b4 he wrenches on my car I know this is a dude who was prob working on cars when everyone else was doing homework and at vocational when others were reading Hemingway and prepping for sats. Most likely was successfully repairing cars b4 any formal training and learned alot by trial and error which means he has excellent problem solving skills out of necessity where 90 percent of techs would be looking shit up. The type of guy that has diagnosed problems by putting his ear to a long wrench to hear internals 100 times more than avg tech has used his 500 dollar snap on stethescope thing. Im 42 and rotated weekends between my grandfather's auto shop and my uncles motorcycle shop as cheap labor growing up so I can tell immediately. Lol
You won't do the old cars.... What is the matter with you? Ur gonna be out of work soon then because people are holding on to their old cars like they are holding on to a new born baby...
