Hello Owlette Friends,
It's been a week...just like this title says, some days are honey and rotten eggs. This Journal with Me is a story time of what has been happening in our world. So sorry about your calf. Sad but true, it’s the life. Calving season just started here too. One of our girls gave birth a couple days ago and the baby is doing great, but her baby last year died at 2 days old. It was so sad seeing her just lay where the baby passed and moo. It was her first one last year and she wouldn’t let it nurse. She would turn and kick every time it tried, so we did the colostrum tube also, but it didn’t thrive. I wonder if maybe it just wasn’t healthy to start with, or had defects we couldn’t see, and the mother knows? The baby she just had this year is doing really good though and the mom is standing still and letting it nurse as long as it wants. I am a born and raised city girl, turned country girl 20 years ago. Definitely some sad and hard times, but the good parts of having a farm totally outweigh the bad moments ❤️
