Like it's not perfect. they have the goals that they want to make it for the country even with the amendments like being able to be a free country where you can say what you want to say but obviously no country is perfect it's going to have some flaws. The thing about America is that they need to accept those flaws and work on it. And I've seen it time and time again so it can be done but it depends on how people really examine different issues and get the bigger picture

I believe that both "MLG Gamer" and "Michael Fox" misunderstand what most who support the concept of American exceptionalism in this day and age are actually arguing in favor of. American exceptionalism supporters are not arguing that America sits in some magical plane of existence or that America is perfect, but rather the fact that America has an effective mechanism for popular consent and consistent growth and development through societal introspection is what makes America exceptional. Most countries "shoot the messengers" to use a quaint expression and, if they don't it's because their style of governance is increasingly influenced by America.

Sure, we've had our historical issues, bloodshed & tragedies, even atrocities but like most developing societies we've surpassed and risen above it and continue to grow. America is exceptional and it's why many people will give life and limb to come here for a chance at a better life of prosperity and freedom. I refuse to accept any of Coates' views as valid. One of the ways that segregation maintains white supremacism is by allowing this notion to persist that all members of an otherwise well-known outgroup are one particular way; they're all relatively athletic, or they're all relatively unscrupulous, or whatever. If you _truly_ want to combat the effects of segregation, you have to start by combatting them in _yourself._ You have to identify people you have known in that outgroup who run _contrary_ to that notion in fairly evident _ways._

Everything is relative, so saying any country is anything you have to put it into comparison to other countries? Im trying to figure which country doesnt have a horrible history, I cant think of a single one. We killed 1.2 million unarmed civilians in Viet Nam, yet I have known dozens of vietnamese immigrants and without a fail they say America is great. So they come from a country where we carried out horrific war crimes and yet those people can see something Coates can see. Coates has never suffered a day in his life by any stretch, yet he wants to act like he is a victim of something or other. Everything thee guys ask for is external change, i never hear them speak of internal change, ever. If you only wait for others to change to solve your problems, you have a problem. Pew research says 73 percent of African American males are not reading at grade level by the 3rd grade. Coates offers as the only solution others to change as say creating a culture of reading and math. What is the most succesful immigrant group? Chinese? Nope, Its Nigerians. Nigerians are actually the most successful immigrant group since the Jewish immigration in the 1930's. They are extraordinary, yet they enter a nation of "systemic racism", and dominate. Amazing huh? Ask a Nigerian how they feel about the United States.

Sure the most progressive and liberals amongst the daily show viewers loved him, but bringing on hosts that "debunk"The idea of American exceptionalism is only going to play out well on the most farthest left of your viewers. Now Jon Stewart has come back once a week, and he has moved to the center, shocker daily show ratings have gone up.

Misogyny is a cultural phenomenon linked round the world but in America it's almost exclusively led and admonished around religious thoughts as well. Blaming Eve and woman for not being wise allows a lot of people especially those who grew up with women in the kitchen pack of school education opportunity etc. To be respected. The misogynistic view of Archie Bunker vs Edith is a real portrayal of fix me a sandwich and if not how Imma go find me a new how. When you link economic issues with the rights of people especially escaping emotional physical pain and the need fear of standing on your own including with children becomes very dofficult

A lot of elders miss what Obama did for the kids and the youngest generations. Looking at the eldest generation vs going younger for advice leadership and knowledge . You didn't pit Donald or Joe vs a 30 year old woman who can stand up against big men with a voices some granny. Perception matters and so does the ability of a woman to be able to smack the smirk off of a predator. Unfortunately, women are generally viewed by age as less n less n less as they get older and so that captivating riveting power diminishes overtime especially with being able to use beauty assets etc. Part of that is though people are saying too attached personally vs a truth. Granny is perceived as less powerful than a young fierce woman who can handle herself a budget etc. A young fierce woman on stage vs old predatory men be surprised how a jaw stops working when she's dressed to do more than just impress.
