Esthetician here! I use this tool all the time and it really is great for loosening build up in the pores however it may not totally remove the blackheads on its own. During treatments, I usually use this tool and then finish up with manual extractions. I would not recommend manual extractions at home. Additionally, be careful with how much pressure you are applying, you don't want to be pressing too hard as it can damage the skin. I would also recommend always working in an upward direction on the face.
Using the other side of the device to penetrate products into the skin is a game-changer and I would highly recommend using it that way as often as you would like to help serums, moisturizers, hydrating masks, etc get deeper into the skin!

Sorry to ask for like free advice but do you think a product like this works better in conjunction with like a chemical exfoliant?
Not at the same time! But like using this to start that process of getting the top layer of the gunk and then following it up with a chemical exfoliating toner and penetrating it deep into the skin to help?
I have dry skin and suffer from a lot of dry skin build up that causes whiteheads and I’m hoping that combo will work since I just bought a product like this.

@@slothsgonewild7359 blackheads are made up of dirt, bacteria and a build up of dead skin causing the pore to appear larger, whereas sebaceous filaments are just the natural oils coming through the skin (which you should have). So having a device like this can make your skin produce even more oil if overused (due to stripping the skin too much)

This seems a little misleading since blackheads typically almost always have to be extracted. I consider this device more for removing sebaceous filaments, which most people think are blackheads and they are not, rather than true blackheads.
    EDIT:
    * I also want to note that I’m not saying Tati or her review is misleading! I’m just noting that a lot of companies market devices like this for blackheads when really they are more for removing dirt and grime from sebaceous filaments. I feel like a lot of people are going to be upset if they buy this and their blackheads are still there. 😳 idk! Just do some research everyone before spending a lot of money on these kind of devices for an issue that most likely won’t be resolved! 🙂

Pores don’t open or close. Most important thing to do is to actually moisturize before extraction because what you need is to soften the “gunk” for easier extraction.
And guess what is a big culprit for dark looking pores?? Self tanners! You’re just darkening up the top layer of sebum sitting all pretty in every pore.

As an esthetician, I think things like this that are available to the public are great! Home care is crucial for keeping your skin looking good, fighting aging, and boosting results of a good facial treatment. Now a lot of skincare tools have a lot of science behind them and require some extra knowledge and sometimes training to be used properly and get the best results, so a lot of times people are wasting money on something that they don't understand how to use or how it works. While this can be something great for home care, it's important to really learn how to use it properly, and its even better when you get regular treatments at the spa that you cannot do to yourself at home, like peels, micro current, galvanic, Microderm, etc. This video demonstrated a really good use of the product and Tati truly understood why its a beneficial device!

look up videos of people using a BT Micro! It's an ultrasonic skin scrubber similar to this made for professionals, I use it in my spa and it works amazing. Definitely something you should get done by a professional for the best results, and because there is a specific protocol we're taught to get the most out of the tool. Usually 'keeping the skin damp' is a desincrustation solution that is made to loosen up all the sebum & gunk in the pores. But if you look it up you can see that there's a ton that comes out, especially around the nose/t-zone area!

yeah because it doesn't remove blackheads, it removes the sebaceous filaments which are just the natural oils coming through your pores (whereas blackheads are made of dirt, bacteria, etc.) so the more you use it, the more you strip the skin of natural oils which causes it to make extra oil.

I haven’t tried this, but I do know blackheads can’t be removed this way. They have to be extracted, but the guck you see is your sebaceous filaments. Which isn’t something you should be getting rid of. They look similar to back heads but there smaller and less dark. You can look them up online. There’s ways to make them less noticeable, but you using this is breaking your capillaries unfortunately

As an esthetician, I would say this would be a great tool to use to keep pores from getting too clogged & getting rid of sebaceous filaments. Blackheads have to be extracted manually. As far as the dermaflash dermaplaning tool, the reason it is much more expensive when done by a professional is because we are able to get more layers of the skin off which makes the skin much softer and healthier. You should have that treatment done once a month at most. Professionals also use a different kind of razor which prevents ingrown hairs & have different techniques for the dermaplaning to be most beneficial

    • @kellymaloney9827
      @kellymaloney9827 Pƙed 4 lety +2

I completely agree!!! Tati this is a great tool just make sure not to press to hard while using it. As far as dermaplaning goes, I am not a huge fan of the at home tools. Estheticians are trained and have certifications specifically for this service so we not only know how to properly do this without damaging the skin, but we also are able to use a tool that doesn't have any of the protective notches to exfoliate the skin on a much deeper level. In terms of getting a facial once a month regardless of what treatment you get it is so important because we are able to use tools techniques and products that are professional grade only. So while you are doing all the right things at home it is still important to come in monthly to get even more benefits than you would at home. :)

They’re not going to be as effective as the ones in the salon or spa. I recommend seeing an esthetician. I promise it is well worth the trip, and it does cost something, but you can be assured that someone is taking care of your skin.

Pores are not muscle they do not open and close. Steams can cause break outs don't over do it. Water in general softens the caps on the black head or white heads and allow it to be easily removed.

Yesss I’ve had one of these since ~2011 from Bliss (before it was in target & Kohl’s, so unsure if they still make it) just don’t push or pull to hard. Thanks for doing a video on this! Would love a full video of skin tools you enjoy or are trying out 💗

Some constructive criticism about a mistake most people mistake just because of not being fully educated on how your skin works. Your pores do not “open” or “close”.
I learned this watching the youtuber Skincare by Hyram

Ugh.... i LOVE picking my skin, Tati. Why you do this to me??!! Now I have absolutely rationalized the price and necessity of this tool, because.... well, the results of my at-home blackhead surgical procedures isn’t exactly scar-free. So, I’m sold. I am actually just wishing it could arrive in its package FASTER. I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE ALL THE GUNNNKKKKK!! ❀❀❀❀
