Holy shitballs, this video is such a wonderful resource! I have been dabbling with (very very) amateur jewelry making techniques this year, and about a month ago I picked up an ImpressArt beginner kit. I've been having more frustration than fun, and your video really helped me to troubleshoot where I was screwing up! Thank you so much!
Oh so new to stamping (have never done...yet) heading into your playlists. Thank You!
Have fun!
Thanks for doing this! (Cool purple boots! 💯) 👍❤
aren't they the best! They are from Miz Mooz
Great info! Very helpful advice, Thank you!
You are very welcome, thanks for commenting :)
Very informative, thank you 🫶
Glad you enjoyed it!
P.S. Lora is the BEST!! 💯👍❤
AGREED!!!!
Thank you for this! I'm learning a lot. Counterintuitively... is it possible to stamp letters into silver hollow cushion beads? And does stamping affect filled/vermeil plating?
So glad you are enjoying the tutorials! The metal where you are stamping must be supported by sturdy steel to have the necessary resistance from below. This allows the stamp to push into the metal. If there isn't this support, striking the stamp into the metal will push/bend the whole surface of the metal inward, damaging the bead in this case.
Silver filled and gold filled can be stamped - plated material can be stamped (how difficult it is will depend on the metal that was plated). The long term result will depend on the thickness, quality of the plating.
Do you gals recommend the 4x4 bench block with the rubber base that the block sits in? (Not the rubber feet) Thanks for the video ladies! Very informative and helpful! 🙏🏼
We recommend placing the steel bench block directly on a sturdy work bench/table, or on a leather sandbag. The sandbag is ok because it won't create any bounce back.
Thanks for this video! Just getting into it and was about to buy an Amazon block kit - so thanks! 😅
I'm curious about stainless steel vs aluminum - I want to make keychains, which is the better option? (My secondary need is I'd like to stamp on both sides - i know i need 14g but which metal is best then? Or if double stamping is not recommended, i could just do two little keychain tags (~10mm each) instead of one double sided one). Thanks so much for the advice - I've been researching and learning but starting a new craft from the ground up can be a bit hard and with this economy I'm trying to minimize buying the wrong things! Thanks!
Aluminum is going to be much easier to stamp into than stainless steel. I recommend getting even just one of each to experiment with ( as long as your stamps are rated for stainless steel ) to see how you like working with it and the stamped results.
