Harrison Armory is not responsible for any catastrophic spatial anomalies in the event of a rampant internal gravitic collapse. - Hry
The Armory deems "mascot-attachment" unadvisable in response to the naming of "Roller" Directed Payload Charges.
Hi hello, so a correction that someone pointed out in the comments. To equip a super heavy weapon it takes a heavy weapon mount and a second mount.
I want this just for the claymore roomba
Don’t care what it takes

So in the movement rules there's this note about "obstructions" that states mechs can freely move through (but not end their turn in) hexes with obects of smaller size than them.
Barbarossas are size 3 and 13 meters tall. Tack on the bonus that lets you increase a mech's size by 1 and they can walk straight through an small apartment building without even slowing down.
They don't evem need guns to literally stop a city flat.
Also note that the flight ceiling is max 10 spaces. The bouncing mine has full clearance. You can't outfly it.
If you have the Drone Commander Talent, you can move those Auto-Loader Drones.
Ah yes the Apocalypse Rail, it does [[NARRATIVE]] amount of damage.
You're not piloting the Barbarossa mech; you're piloting the Apocalypse Rail with Barbarossa frame attachment.

A fair comparison.

"Harrison III here, you guys are gonna LOVE our new product. You remember the Apocalypse Rail? Well, me and the Think Tank boys sat down, asking ourselves 'how do we load it up faster?' The answer; we don't, we *unload* it faster. Utter brilliance. Of course, there was some debate if it's worth carrying a Size 3 radiator system with you to prevent the 40 Heat impulse from causing your mech to instantly undergo nuclear fission... but as I said, there *was* debate; now we have some first-hand trial data from our involuntary test subjects. Early results are promising! Not one of them went thermonuclear! They all burned alive, but no collateral!"
Okay, thanks to you I'm imagining Harrison the 3rd as space imperialist Cave Johnson and I don't know whether to laugh or fear for my safety.
@@necktiefox2917with the latest developments here at Harrison Armory, why worry about choices you won't get to make?
Barbarossa, for when 1 massive cannon just isn't enough.
A big part of the Apocalypse Rail at 1 is the word "Stun".
That word is scary at all times, but when you are in a space that does 4 burn at the start of your turn for the rest of the scene, it terrifying.
Take 4 damage ignoring armor, do absolutely nothing on your turn except take an engineering check to not be on fire. Next turn 4 more damage that ignores armor, plus the 4 from last turn if you failed, and can now attempt to get out of the firestorm and put out the fire... again.
ya that 4 burn is evil because most stuff CANT survive 4 burn. as it aslo hits ya heat bar too.
@@lechking941 Heat and Burn are separate things. Burn deals initial damage that ignores armor, and forces an engineering check at the end of your turn. If you fail to roll a 10 or higher you take that burn damage *again* and need to roll for it again next turn.
None of that deals heat damage though, which is a separate bar
@@maxspecs ah dont got access to the core books so.
But yes, being stunned in an area that applies burn is terrifying. Especially if Barb's buddies have closed into theirr effective range.
@@lechking941 Average Tier 1 NPC HP is 15 so most stuff *can* survive 4 burn.
"Thank you, Mister Harrison!"
Yeah, no, that covers it. Just... Thank you, Mister Harrison.
Oh, fun bit, the Apocalypse Rail doesn't have the Ushabti Omni-guns line about mods or talents not applying.
So, if you happen to find a talent or modifier for Ship-class size or Spool type weapons, those will work.
THAT’S A BIG ASS BOI RIGHT THERE!!!
I just figured I’d mention it here, but the madman behind a lot of the art for lancer has a really good webcomic called Kill Six Billion Demons, and uh, his propensity for drawing really big things that vaporize everything around them when they attack is on fully display.
The only bad thing about Kill Six Billion Demons is catching up and having to wait for more 😭
But the wait is ALWAYS worth it!
@@wolfielagg Agreed 100%
Quick correction, because the Siege Cannon is a Superheavy weapon, it takes a Heavy mount *and* a second weapon mount. You said it only takes a Heavy mount and I felt the need to correct you because it's the first Superheavy weapon you've covered.
Ah, nice catch. Thanks for the correction.
Is an integrated weapon though, no?
Otherwise it'd be impossible to use seige cannon
@gs7444 The Apocalypse Rail is integrated, the Siege Cannon is the one you get at LL3, it's a superheavy that anyone can use if they get that high in the license.
And because both the Apocalypse Rail and the Siege Cannon are Superheavy weapons, there is no way to fire both in one turn, unless your name is Asura.
@@maxspecs I can't find anyone saying you COULD shoot them both in the same turn? Unless I missed something.
Time for the big guns
Something to note is that the Barbarossa art, for some reason, does not feature the apocalypse rail. That's the siege cannon.
so that guns NOT the rail. but the siege cannon.... oh mother of god. DOES THE MECH BECOME THE RAIL WHEN IT READIES TO FIRE!
...oh fuck, that's just the siege cannon?
Whether this is legit or not, I want it to be true so badly. No, the big fuck you gun on the big robot isn't the ship killer, that's its little brother. Lol!
During development, Apocalypse Rail used to be a special weapon mount that allowed Barbarossa to bypass some firing restrictions, rather than a weapon itself.
Ngl, the claymore on a hoverboard got a good chuckle out of me.
Some personal notes on the Barbarossa:
1) Range 48 Siege Cannon, my beloved
2) Charging the Apocalypse Rail is the ultimate bait, because the DM will either have to deal with you, sitting on the other side of the battlefield, or you declare this encounter as over. And if the DM takes, the bait, great, your squishy allies got away and you just got your Core Power back, because you didn't fire it
3) In lore, people kept strapping melee weapons to the Barbarossa, and HR was breaking their heads over it, why, and so the Frundsberg was developed (homebrew, but the lore is just great)
4) Don't ask how John Creighton Harrison II got killed
i mean when ya dont want to be on the far side why NOT get up and personal. *harrason needst o take the hind release the barbossa frame with out the apoc and they be manking BANK!
Roller charges are very useful on other chassis, too.
@@lechking941 Imagine how many system points could be allocated, and possibly another main and heavy mount.
This is the kind of content that got me into the game, and the kind of content I want to keep seeing for as long as there is content to be made about it.
a build for anyone wanting to play a barbarossa btw!
get technophile III and black thumb II -> you heal 2 heat every turn -> keep siege cannon everything. when possible, get Prospector III. being slow? didnt ask i made a tunnel
I'm running a Lancer oneshot soon-ish and one of my friends asked me what the BIGGEST WEAPON was. So I directed them to the Barbarossa. Cut to me 2 days later receiving a call from him asking to start at LL3 instead of LL1 like I was planning, just to pilot the Big Fuck as he calls it. He says he can deal with the whole shebang of Talents and SPs and also he has a massive confidence and a big amount of hype for the damn gun, so I'm currently working on a build for him so he can basically delete the boss of the oneshot on sight with the gun. DAMN I love this mech.
even if as a DM ya gonna also hate it. good luck and i hope this causes a longer term game were they build to being ABLE to get the barbossa.
It's funny how the Apocalypse Rail pretty much uses a miniature black hole generator - not as a weapon itself but rather just as a means of launching the railgun's payload like a slingshot.
My friend is setting up a lancer game and my goal is to get this as my main machine with a flavoring of ot looking like Alexander from Final Fantasy.
One of my players mixed this and a Lanncaster. The murder bus never ends

Apocalypse rail gun truly one of the ship mounted weapons of all time now with portable use for all your mech based needs
The Barbarossa is a very simple mech. It has mostly passives and the actives focus on One Big Gun and helping you fire your One Big Gun. There are also some other guns, but whatever guns there are will always be support weapons compared to the Rail. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for bringing to my attention that Harrison Armory is actually 38 truckers in a corporation-sized trenchcoat :P
Naah, that's more IPS-N style.
Harrison Armory is definitely going for a more straightforward militaristic vision. Very similar to Militech in Cyberpunk in fact if you are familiar with them.
I absolutely adore the Harrison pilot's input. Can the other factions get one too? Some degenerate 4chan'er a la the HORUS lines from Compcon for Horus mechs, some hyper-hoity toity weeb for SSC and some average, blue collar, "worker, so really I'm not a pirate plz stop" guy for IPS-N?
I love me the Apocalypse Rail, but one thing to keep in mind is that most scenes in Lancer are 8 turns or less, and you lose your charge if you move or get moved/stunned. If you want to fire the thing at full power more than once, you’re committed being a turret for the entire scene and relying on your teammates to keep enemies from stunning/knockbacking you.
To quote Aleksandr Kerensky when making the design brief for the Atlas battlemech "A 'mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible and as ugly and foreboding as concievable, so that fear itself will be our ally"

Ah yes, the gun with legs BARBAROSSA. Love this mech, sadly i didnt get to play with it much.
I do remember having a convo woth my DM about the Rail Gun:
Me: "Is the Rail Gun mainly for cover removal or something? I can't see myself using it much besides that"
DM: "Oh it's much more than that. It is a Warning, a Threat that you must be dealt with soon. You will be the target because no one wants that thing aimed at them."

I used barbossa mech bits to make my Lancaster into the party’s bus. Loads of fun.
Loving the character inserts
Harrison R&d "How much fire power to want on the mech?" Harrison II: "No I think you mean how much mech do I want on my firepower."
An anti material artillery piece with enough weapon support to make Lockheed Martin blush. What a beautiful game Lancer is.
Nice to see Lancer's take on the A10 Warthog.
The barbarossa is not a mech. The barbarossa is a very, very complicated bipod for a black hole powered rail cannon. You know a gun fucks when one of the attachment is run by a cold fusion reactor and towers over a mechanized chassis
Important note: Keep the Barbarossa and its Apocalypse Rail out of the hands of Tchaikovsky. He'll just use it for a crazy musical number...
But it would be cool
nice touch using Maximilien Zelevas from endless space 2 as the image for Harrison I
Big toys for big boys!
Another good video. Reminds me of the Long Tom atlas from Battletech.
Can confirm Barbarossa pilots are all lunatics who want to nuke a small convoy
Well what else besides fixed targets are they going to get to use the main selling point of the mech on?
Meanwhile: Caliban sitting in the corner loading a shotgun giggling
The Barbarossa is an absolute unit, one of those you will know when you try to learn the game
OH IT'S THE BIGGEST MECH! OH THE GUN!
He brings a power to the table difficult to match, 'cause saddly we don't get other size 3 friends
A player of mine is a failed revolutionary (there is this whole world who put up a fight with HA until they started playing more serious and were able to bought some of the countries of the planet as allies) that is aiming to achieve (illegaly, of course) a Barbarossa frame.
And there was this whole moment of a flashback where they were evacuating a school and some mechs started to show up and then a behemot fell of the skies. The whole tension of imagining trying to escape and then that thing appearing and starting to charging the Apocalypse Rail... Damn
i think you undersell the gun on the barb, its capable of shooting down a ship, in orbit... of the moon, from earth, in the Marianas trench
Homeworld in the background and Splatoon music , nice.
(I might be wrong on the music since its hard to hear)
Oh yeah baby
I like to think that every Barbarossa pilot sounds like the Apocalypse Tank From Command and Conquer Red Alert 3
Okay this might be too obscure but the second I heard about the roller grenades, like a year ago, all I could picture was those monowheel drone things from the battleship movie that just ram into shit
Someone heard of nero fighting posaidon and was like.
hell yeah
Sylvester gives me Discount Dan vibes.
This is not a mech with an integrated weapon, its a weapon with an integrated mech.
Probably going to run a Barbarossa or Sherman (even if I have my gripes with Harrison and some of their very questionable decisions in uhm everything), Just because I like the idea of having a devastating weapon and playing around it, bonus points if its really cool/an absurdly overpowered weapon for its job for no reason.

Okay, so I haven't actually played yet, but since I'm currently preparing a character for my first Lancer group, I can't help but imagine:
BARBAROSSA: Hahaha! Fly you fools! Everything will BURN!
Me: Well, only if you don't move or get knocked back until your next turn.
BARBAROSSA: And who's supposed to move the WALKING MOUNTAIN? You puny thing?! Haha!
Me: No, you're absolutely right, I can't move you. But what if you yourself move before you shoot?
BARBAROSSA: W-... what... why would I- ... ?

*proceeds to blast Bosanska Artiljerija into the comms*
This is a gun with legs. The “mech” title is just for convenience
If not for the (very) situational integral tactical superweapon, I would consider this mech exceptionally disappointing since you're not getting near as much as you'd expect from the only size 3. The limited system points still hurt though.
But if you need a Lancer team to have heavy bombardment capability, Barbarossa is a must. Just be judicious with which systems you load in before each mission.
I NEED A MINIATURE WARGAME IN THIS SETTING
heyyy buddy do you think you could do an in depth vid on either the aunic or the valadores ty !!!!
Could you demonstrate a couple rounds of combat in this system? I want to try DMing this game but would be like a walk through on combat.
Barbarossa: When you need a BIGGER gun
a cool thing about LANCER. there is no object that has 100 hp. it gets around 50. you do enough damage to destroy everything in the viscinity twice over
in practice, the railgun aint that great cause its a pain to charge it and you wont have enough turns to charge more than 1 shot, but by GOD its the best CP in the game based on style points
While not required, it is recommended that you scream like Goku achieving Super Saiyan 3 while charging the Apocalypse Rail.
Laughs in LinAc Coherent Beam Cannon.
Isn't there a way to like daisy chain the difference Mex to be able to shoot further with this chassis like you have your scalp which is the first one away and then it can link up with another one which is a certain amount of way and thanks to those two linking up and then linking up with you you can shoot all that distance away which is way further than you usually can
Do you have any plans on making another video on Magnagothica
Based on the first one, there's not a lot to talk about. Mostly just set dressing for a war game. And not the deep lore of say, Battletech.
Any ideas on how to balance an encounter as a GM against Barb?
Look, I’ve gotta ask, what is the music at the start of the video, I think I need it…
So who's your twin with the jacket
An Armories Lancer
So Harrison is NOT trusting a NHP with this then?
You've already got a cannon that can one shot any target with enough charge up and more systems than you have points for. Do you really want to see all that cascade? Wait for the mark two in 500 years when they've worked out all the kinks.
ok now do the smallest mech
So are the karakin trade baronies getting their own video or we doing the mechs first ?
The original notes were being reworked awhile back then fell onto the back burner. Figured going into some of the licenses briefly mentioned in the manufacturer videos would be of interest while that was being worked on. Though it has admittedly fallen on the back back burner for awhile now. Should really give another crack at it.
Pls make a vid on how to make a character for Lancer
