    Remain calm.
    Regent endures.
    Alexei lives.
The Holy Russian Empire shall endure.
There is much to be done.

This clock reminds me of an old movie Uncle Scrooge at 12 o'clock midnight being visited by spirits when the clock strikes 12 times.

If I am awake, I listen for the chimes at night. But they don't wake me if I am asleep after all these years.
So far . . . no ghosts at Xmas.
      Maybe this year? :)

It has three chimes, as do most grandfather clocks. This is Westminster, like Big Ben. The other chimes are St. Michael's and Whittington. Thanks for watching.

Sorry, Shariq, but I'm not a collector of these things. Just happen to own this one. Only one I've ever owned. You'll have to look elsewhere for one dating to the late 1600s.
Interesting fact: These types of clocks only came to be called Grandfather Clocks because of the song "My Grandfather's Clock," written by Henry Clay Work in 1876. Prior to that date, they were known only as "long case pendulum clocks."

@@Benicio_Fols Carries the name Hentschels. They were a firm located in Ontario, Canada. Long since out of business. While they definitely made the case, the movement likely came from overseas. The clock was purchased new from Birks in Edmonton in 1972. So, it's "only" half a century old this very year. :)

@@terrydanks Id guess the movement is by now-defunct German manufacture “Urgos”. I heard they went out of business in the 90s, and purchased by infamous German manufacturer Hermle.
