A Class 4 HGV licence required to drive one! Class 4 HGV was for lightweight articulated HGVs where the weight of cab unit was less than a given weight. 1½ tons was it? I wonder how many Scarabs still survive? Also, I wonder what happened to the old pre-war Scammel Mechanical Horse that I saw several decades ago at the old North Eastern Station at Kirkby Steven?
With the perkins 4.1litre diesel which this one sounds as though it has with the pump wound fully out it would do 35mph+. Easier and cheaper to have driven the 220miles rather than have the expense of a low loader.
