    I climbed this trail twice in the 1980s. They've definitely changed part of the trail between Kinney Lake and the White Falls. The suspension bridge used to be further up the trail, across a more violent part of the river, and we crossed it the other way (river coming down from the right side). I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the original bridge was wiped out by a flood one year and they had to rebuild it. They must've changed the trail then.

    I did the Emperor Falls hike as a day hike with some friends from Edmonton about 6 years ago. I loved the views. They were so amazing it's almost impossible to put it into words. Watching this really makes me want to find a friend or 2 and do the trip over a few days like you have. Even if the views do not compel people to go, the expressions on each and everyone of your faces should be a sign.

It was fun to climb up! When we were heading up the people coming out hadn’t gotten to see all of Mt. Robson for their whole trip. We were thankful for the times we did get blue skies. Great video. -What places on the trail did you fill up your water? (Between the campsites, at the campsites)And did you boil/treat the water before you drank it?
    -in the bear lockers, do you need to put your food in a plastic bag, or anything?
    -did you leave your packs in your tent when you left for the day hike? Is it safe to leave your belongings in the tent, or is there a specific place to leave them at berg campground.
    Thank you again! Loved the video, so excited for next year!!

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      You'll have a blast!
      1) I filled up anywhere I found water! I used a Sawyer Squeeze filter to treat the water.
      2) I put my food in a MEC nano drybag. Most people did the same, so I'd maybe label your bag with a sharpy.
      3) We left our packs in the Berg Lake shelter. I'd feel safe leaving stuff in my tent as well, but we were going to a different campsite after.

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  Před 4 lety +2

      Berg Lake is patrolled by reindeers, didn't ya know eh! Snowbird pass would be moderate difficulty just because of the length, but you're doing it with minimal pack weight. Overall, I'd say Berg Lake Trail is also moderate - a steep section after Whitehorn but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. People were hiking it in rubber boots carrying 8 lbs tents.

    Curious if you opted for the tungsten ul over the lanshan on this trip for any specific reason? I have the tungsten 3 (not the UL so over 6lbs) and was considering picking up the lanshan 2 for this hike (bit too tall for the 1 I think). I guess I’m just curious if there are drawbacks to that type of tent on this kind of trip that I’m not considering before I make a purchase. Thanks!

    • @JustinOutdoors
      @JustinOutdoors  Před 3 lety

      I didn't have a Lanshan 2 at the time and wanted the extra space over the Lanshan 1 since I know we'd be setting up base camps! The Lanshan would be a bit tougher to set up on the wooden platforms which you find at some of the sites.

    Wow! This looked amazing! If I ever make it to the Canadian Rockies, this will have to be on my list. Can I ask about bugs? Are mosquitoes, black flies, and/or ticks an issue in that area in June/July? They're insane here in Maine, but I didn't see any indication of them in your video. I've seen other videos of other locations where they swarm the camera and the person. If they are an issue there too, any suggestions for how to deal with them? Also, can you do the hike solo, or should you always be in a group for bear safety? Thanks for the great video! :) Paula

    • @JustinOutdoors

      For several km there isn't! And for some people, those km could take awhile. Also depends on time of year. That was the warning from Parks.

    Hello.. i am going next month but we have reservations for June 19th, 20th and 22nd on near berg lake and there are none spots are available for 21st of June. Can you help me if we stay over there on 21st without reservation or will be any consequences?

      @JustinOutdoors  Před 3 lety +1

      I never recommend going to campsites without a reservation. If you show up without a reservation, you'll be taking a tent pad from someone who has a reservation. There are also a lot of wardens along Berg Lake who will not hesitate to make you walk out back to your car immediately.

    I'm a little anal when it comes to place names, at 4:57 that was Whitehorn ,Robson is to your left but you are just below it, You are in the valley of 10,000 waterfalls and in the evening if you go out towards the river you can spot mountain goats looking for a place to sleep on the ledges. Your right though it's a must do hike, but they closed it in August this year to severe melt from the glaciers, the bridges and trail are damaged by flooding.

    Any idea what temperatures to expect in mid June?

      @JustinOutdoors  Před 4 lety +1

      Berg Lake is pretty crazy and you could see 30C or 10C during the day in June. I'd be prepared for below freezing at night for sure. It probably won't get much below freezing, but you never know.
