I was born in 1957, and I remember cranking up the old Victrola to listen to the sounds of the forties. And when I started working in a grocery store in 1973 at the age age of sixteen, forties big band was being played on the store PA system. I have loved that music as long as I can remember.

My wife and I were both born in 1957 as well. THIS is a large part of the sound and feeling of Christmas while we were growing up. The music (and I use that term very loosely) that they're trying to pawn off as Christmas music these days is an atrocity. It's so nice to hear styles like this again. I even found a 3 hour recording of Kmart Christmas shopping music on CZcams...there's still some great sounds to be found!
At 76 I've loved big band and swing since I was about 3 years old. Mom's kitchen radio was my vehicle to another time and place.
My Grandmother had a Radio always on in her kitchen except during meals. Then it was turned off so we couldn't hear it in the dining room. But being the only child there at the time it was me helping prep the meals fully set the table she believed to treat each meal as if we were serving royalty. Everything lined up with a ruler linen table cloths napkins napkin rings and specific order of knife forks spoons water wine and desert glasses.
Thank GOD ALMIGHTY we had help that after we finished all we needed to do was exit the room and close the doors they took over. Total kitchen and table all put away washed dried. Grand dad was a Judge She was a Charge Nurse at the Hospital so both highly respected.

You are already so strong just being alive and living every day out, so keep going at it, never give up, you can do this. You will overcome. You will succeed. You will get through it all. I got through the storm of a very hard chapter in my life, you will too. Not as fast as we would like, but it will end soon! Don’t give up, be as optimistic as you can! Take that free time to yourself! Do what makes you feel happy and at peace! Don’t neglect yourself and rest, take care of yourself and eat well. You need to vent it out, cry it all out. For you aren’t alone. So many are with you in this long fight called life. And we will all get through it. Everyone will get through it. You got this. You’ve made it so far, look at you, you are never going down. Congratulate yourself on those small efforts- waking up, getting up and going on through your day, doing that homework, caring for yourself, eating well, giving yourself the time you need, feel proud of the resistance you have had through all this time. The storm will pass, it won’t last forever. So to who ever you are, I am very proud of you. I really am. It’s not easy. I know for a fact from personal experience that it’s not. But you’re here. You’re alive and breathing. Your doing so well already. You got this. Keep going you, and reach high. You will get there, you will conquer, you will overcome. Fighting

I was born in 1967 and grew up listening to this and the more traditional stuff like Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Elvis etc. It doesn’t feel like Christmas to me without this music!

I didn’t grow up listening to this music, but became a big fan when my son joined the jazz band in his high school in 2001. We had to listen to him practice at home! 🤨 Then we would go to his Christmas concerts, which were AMAZING and EXCITING!! He continued first year in college and stopped, life happened to him! 😆 Today he just plays his trumpet for fun. Look up Jo Stafford. SKI TRAILS…… mom and dad had the album and we played it from Thanksgiving till after New Year’s Eve. More like winter time songs, then Christmas songs, but she had such a beautiful velvet voice. The first side and second side can both be found on CZcams.

I swear the only way I can truly get into a mood of merriment for the Holiday season is by either listening to Big Band Christmas music or Christmas metal…there honestly isn’t much of an in-between there haha. Love this compilation! I WILL be playing it now and for as long as I’m around for Christmas’s! 🙏🏻🎄✨

As a rock and roller, born 5 months after the announced birth of rock and roll in Life magazine, July 5, 1955, it took some time to appreciate this music style. I have over the years. Excellent arrangements and lively takes of the Christmas classics!

I was born in 2003, but I listen to this everyday and I wonder how life was when those songs were new. When there were no technology, no phone, and peoples were listening to these on radio or vinyl. How was to be young at that times.

As a 'Baby Boomer', I grew up with this music. A really great orchestra with some cleverly tasteful arrangements. Loved it all my life - sang professionally for several decades and now in my 70`s sing some of them with one of Melbourne`s top Big Bands.
