Shorebird identification isn't easy, but it doesn't have to be hard. The little sandpipers can be the most difficult, unless you know the secrets. Here are five peeps on a Maine mud flat. Sort out the least sandpipers, semipalmated sandpipers, western sandpipers, white-rumped sandpipers, and Baird's sandpipers using these easy tips.

For someone who just cant figure this out (in Texas) it would help to cover one species slowly and fully and then compare at the end because I get lost quick on shire birds and gulls.

One key thing to remember: no matter where you are, most of the birds on the beach are just a few species. Then you look for the ones that AREN'T them.

Thanks for another great video, I've been out looking for shorebirds a lot now that migration is starting to pick up. I'm keeping my eyes open for a western sandpiper, that will be a life bird for me!
