'Legend' is a word that is thrown around all too often in this day and age, but the term surmises the reign of the Mapogo lions in the Sabi Sands to perfection. This notorious band of brothers has ruled the area with an iron paw.
So far this is the greatest video you have made for us, 25 minutes long video and felt like a regular 10 minutes video thanks to the great editing, commentary, and information you put in this video, thank you so much!
Yes, I agree!! Some of the others I’ve seen, and I’ve seen almost all of them, seem too fast and sometimes confusing. This one felt more cohesive and well put together. Even the ending was perfect, I didn’t go what the hell just happened?! Lol!
The Mapogos left a big mark in the Sabi Sands. The game drive rangers like Cedric talk about the coalition a lot and even tells stories on them. Its a good thing they left offspring and their blood still lives on in many lions today. The Othawa Pride, Mhangeni, Kambula, Styx pride, all have Napogo daughters and their offspring carrying their legacy.
There was only one male offspring and unfortunately he got killed their daughters survived the rangers would not let a powerful coalition exist again they killed a huge amount of lions mr t even killed his older brothers cubs. Also there is a lot of suspicion how 4 of them died.when you wipe out most of the rivels it could lead to inbreeding
There's still lions from the bloodline.. sakakama, Scarface (sakakamas brother) Seketi (sakakamas son) and other sons from sakakama, left PLENTY of a bloodline... and a whole new generation of Male lions that are GREAT hunters & strangely understand that they're better off/safer & eat more if they allow other males to stay as long as possible !!
They used to have a 2-hour long documentary about them. Now you would have to watch it in three or four minute clips on certain channels saying episode 1 2 3 4 and so on. This was the most deceitful pin nail. I thought it would be a line getting kicked out of its Pride, getting old and coming back and taken his reputation back. Very disappointed.
