It's now a protected territory that borders with China and it's home to rare and endangered species such as the Amur leopard and the Amur tiger. The Amur leopard is one of the 20 species in critical danger of extinction.
Amur leopards are one of the most endangered species in the world. They are classified as Critically Endangered, with less than 100 individuals in the wild. About 180 individuals live in captivity. If this number sounds devastatingly small to you, you will be surprised to know that the Amur leopard population has actually grown over the past few years. Poaching and the loss of habitats are the main reasons why these leopards are one of the rarest wild cats in the world. Amur leopards are on the brink of extinction!
