- Five-door WRX returns, but does this fast family wagon deserve to wear Subaru’s iconic performance badge? 👉 Full Review: www.carsales.com.au/editorial...
It wears the Japanese brand’s iconic performance badge, but don’t expect the 2023 Subaru WRX Sportswagon to deliver heart-pumping driving thrills.
This is a WRX for the family buyer who wants a bit of get-up-and-go but isn’t that fussed about razor-sharp handling, hence the softer suspension tune and standard CVT gearbox.
Such a specification might upset the faithful, but it makes for a practical and pleasant day-to-day companion that still has a sporting edge. Check out our video review above for the full rundown.

Tried a Levorg in 2018 & walked away with a list of what I didn’t like. Sorry, I like wagons & this time was down to this or Octavia RS. Every downside each car had was balanced but an upside so purchased based on price, picked up a WRX dealer car GT spec. I understand why diehard WRX/STI fans aren’t fans, this is a nice car to drive. Pleasant & comfortable around town, great tourer with plenty of power for hills & short overtaking lanes, ridiculous competent on bents particularly the uneven or pitted ones. Not the best consumption around town, good touring. Visibility awesome (took me a few weeks before I noticed no front parking sensors. I swap between cars over a month & this is the easiest to get back into. Great car, perhaps not, but a good, competent alternate to the SUV obsessed world.
I have the 2023 WRX wagon TS and the wife drives in comfort mode and this is only the 2nd full tank of fuel and we are getting by the computer 8.2ltr per 100 so far, so gather it hasn't settled in yet and it will change, driving in individual mode settings on comfort and power set to sports im getting 9.2ltr per 100 so far. hope this helps.
Love your review i have brought the WRX wagon TS and i love it, my wife drive in comfort mode as it rides similar to the outback she drives, i love individual mode sew up for comfort ride and spots power give the best of both worlds, love your review better than most.
I like your review and your shoes
WRX Sportswagon simply known as Impreza WRX Sportswagon evolved from Levorg GT.
Left overs Levorgs that don’t seem to sell (used market)
Great review! Really informative, covered all the key points people in this target market would want to know. Well done!
That is some impressive sound deadening under the bonnet😅.
Is this not the same as the Levorg ?
Subaru knows what buyers want,......I want my ac knobs back, "Manual Transmission", and an real Parking break.....Knowing and listening are two different things. 😢
Sportswagon doesn't come in Manual... I'll keep my money thanks... very disappointing
It's a shame Subaru haven't offered the digital cluster that is available in Japan. It looks good enough to compete with Volkswagen's virtual cockpit - with full screen maps displayed. I also wish that they offered the front parking sensors as they do in Japan too. The front camera is good, but on my test drive, it became apparent that you need to hit the camera/view button to enable it.
Also, if you carry tall passengers in the back, they may find the was the ceiling vaults down in front of them claustrophobic. It didn't look like much of an issue for the reviewer, but if you're 5'10" or taller you will.
yep we are in Australia we don't get all the good stuff we even get powered down HP due to we live in Australia.
Bastardising the WRX nameplate with a softy soft family wagon 😂
Great ad. 🥱👎🏼
