No disrespect but I have seen Toto with Simon and Shannon Forrest. I believe Shannon plays Jeff better than Simon. I prefer Shannon to Simon at least in the Toto world. Simon is a ridiculous musician without a doubt but I enjoyed Shannon's work with Toto a little bit better.

      @ArnoldArchives Před 3 lety +7

That's exactly the lineup I'm hoping for too, Slim. Life is way too short and fragile for all the childish pettiness and unforgiveness that plagues the music industry. By the way, Toto doesn't even have to tour either. For crying out loud, these days bands can put together top-notch albums without ever having to leave their home! I'd be more than happy if the guys you mentioned would just keep recording music together, kind of like the Beatles did post-1965.

Not going to happen. Steve is the Best ! the way he talks and moves . when he talks about old times . gear and all that , he is so animated and sincere,
its a delight !!! i can proudly say that i had a chance to talk to him for 4 , 5 minutes in Grand rapids . My family we were driving through a little hip neighborhood and remembered a corner restaurant , and i look from the car over to the outside seating , and there was this guy sitting there that so looked like Steve. my two boys know all the ToTo songs , so i said of course to them "I just saw Steve porcaro over there " i turned around and put my SD card in with a Yamaha Motif demo of mine of "Africa' ....i turned around opened all the windows and cranked it up loud , and as we slowly drove by i shouted over to him "Is this Steve??......is this you Steve???..." he smirked and looked down and bobbed his head like "confessing" "YES ITS ME " so damn cute . i parked the car and took my older son 5 at the time and walked over to him , and he graciously let me interrupt him having his Lunch with his wife. of course Jeffs name came up. and all i ca say in retrospect , he is a true gentleman and just fun to talk to . later we saw them in concert , and it was Glorious.

It broke my heart in 2008 when Luke was pushed into spelling it out for the world in no uncertain terms that "Toto was done, Toto was no more..." - Then with the reformation in 2010...
At least the close of this chapter is a far softer landing for the fans; it's more of an open book. We can't know when we'll see the band perform again and we can't know what the band's lineup will ultimately look like but I think at some point Toto will have an itch it'll want to scratch. - And I'll be there!

I think there’ll be another Toto album. Touring as a band as we know it? Mmm, maybe not.
Even in the recent past Paich dips his toe in now and again.
Without Paich and Steve P on stage, it’s just “Luke’s Toto”.
Of course I’d go see Luke any day of the week but, it’s just not what we want.
I don’t have a problem really with replacement players in bands. Kansas, fir instance, is in the best situation they’ve ever been in, arguably.
And, this most recent Toto team was top notch and I’d love to see all of the same players together again. But, if their heart isn’t in it.....

Luke also sort of mocked Steve's solo career on Facebook and released what is basically a diss track at least partly directed at him (Along For The Ride) like a gangsta rapper.

Don't pressure the man. TOTO has always been an organic band that interchanges personnel as required just as long as there are three original key members present. Paich and Luke are the foundation along with a Porcaro in the mix. As Steve is the only surviving brother, he can't not be a part of TOTO whereas the band is lucky to be able to alternate Bobby and Joe as vocalists. Simon comes and goes as their official drummer and Greg fills in for David whenever he needs time off. As long as you have any of those 3 key members, TOTO is good to go.

Luke knows that. That was one of the reasons why he and Dave ended the band in 2008.

I'm not that into toto unless there's David Paich, a Porcaro being Steve now, and Simon Phillips. Nathan East was an awesome fill in for Mike. Not exactly the same kind groove but a good player nonetheless.

When we did the Live feed with Steve P. our "Rock History Music" logo was embedded on the screen but in our everyday videos it';s always on the left so we didn';t want two Logos. That's why we blacked out the middle one. You're not the first to ask. Thanks for watching.

It’s a sad thing to know about Luke and Dave being sued for enrichment, Jeff’s widow doesn’t know that in order to go on tour, the band (Luke, Dave, Steve himself) risk money and invest in hired musicians, equipment, transportation, crew payroll, with the hope to sell and get green numbers, if a gig doesn’t sell favorably, they lose money, money that Jeff’s widow never risked, not tour no earnings, so, what about investing money on the tour in order to receive a share?

Great interview ! Luke got murdered in court and is extremely bitter, reality is today Toto is a cover band, I saw the band in 1982 absolutely incredible !! Bobby Kimbal was unbelievable ! years ago when I heard Luke fired him I said to myself Toto just lost there original sound forever now over the years and about 25 different musicians 12 different versions of the Toto cover bands Luke needs to move on ! Joe Williams is far from the real Bobby Kimbal sound ! a very sad end to one of my favorite all time bands.

Toto as much as I love 'em , had all the record's too, should just pack it in, without Paich Kimball, and Steve P , It aint TOTO and nothing against Lukather and Williams but bringing in hired guns, to replace The original 3 i mentioned , TOTO is now another tribute band, the glory days are gone. And Im well aware of Paich and Kimballs health problems,

I agree, for me it's not Toto anymore and that is the reason why Luke already quit once back in 2007. But you can't fault the guys for trying to cash in as much as possible on their old day, it's not their fault they can keep going for a longer time than other band members.

It's Steve Porcaro's fault that there is a rift between him Luke, and the rest of the band because he chose his family first before the band over the whole lawsuit ordeal.

It's the opposite, when old non vital members go out with the name, drag a bands rep down, (ala Michael Clarke with his version of The Byrds) and later on, people are afraid to go see the Platters with no real members just scrubs, so if you call it Jeff Lynne's ELO, you know that you are getting the real deal.
