I originally was not intending to record an OMORI playthrough as I didn't think this game would be this intense and deep until I actually got to play it. Sunny broke the violin out of pressure, went upstairs to his room and got scolded by Mari. Since Mari wanted the Recital to be perfect, she got angry. Sunny got angry and gave in to the pressure, pushing her to the stairs where she broke her neck on the same place he broke his violin. This is also why when you open the toy box, the broken violin has strands of black her (Mari's hair) and blood on the music sheets (her blood when she fell)

I think it is interesting that no one acknowledges Aubreys baseball bat with nails in it.
The game seems to be aware of what it is doing and what their characters are using especially in this fight.

Thank you and glad you enjoyed it! I'm very much used to taking hours of content and stripping them down to a few minutes with the best moments. This one was a bit tough cause stripping down 22 hours of gameplay (half of which i didn't record) into like half an hour was quite tough but I'm glad it turned out okay ^^;

So for the hospital choice, it doesn't actually decide the end. When you chose to continue, you chose to live on as sunny. Also, if you go back and water Basil's plants in dream scape at every chance you get you get another scene before the ending

My entire OMORI playthrough has been with my friends (I would say so far, since I'm not done with the game yet, but I know that it'll continue like this, and the game is more fun to play when you have friends in vc with you to joke with, voice different characters, give you tips in battle, point out the things you say in the context of the game that would sound genuinely concerning out of context, you know, the stuff that friends do!

I love how everyone who plays this game is adamant about spoiling the story and encouraging everyone to experience it themselves instead of trying to obtain ad revenue or views. It tells you how important people feel about the message this game very effectively conveys without being preachy or shoving it in your face. It make me wonder if anyone has had firsthand experience with PTSD or isolating themselves as a coping method for an event in his or her life.

SPOILERS, DON'T READ UNLESS YOU'VE WATCHED THE VIDEO
They don't really clarify anything in the video, so here are some finer details.
Sunny and Mari were having an argument because Sunny felt he was too incompetent to go to his violin recital. At the time, Sunny and his friends were all around 12 years old.
Sunny had thrown his violin down the stairs out of his anger. (Hence the smashed violin at the bottom of the stairs)
Sunny tried to go downstairs, but Mari blocked his way, saying "I'm not done talking to you!" or something of the like. (Hence the picture of Mari blocking Sunny's way down the stairs in one of the photos)
Out of impulse and blind anger, Sunny pushed Mari, and she fell down the stairs, landing on Sunny's crushed violin.
Sunny picked Mari up to bring Mari to her bed, convincing himself that she just needed a little rest. He was not picking her up to hang her, that comes later.
Sunny sat next to Mari's bed for awhile, waiting for her to "wake up", but she had stopped breathing.
When Sunny realized Mari was dead, he was reasonably depressed and overwhelmingly terrified.
After a while, a familiar voice told Sunny to "Do what he says" and that "everything will be okay". Sunny followed the directions the voice gave him.
The voice lead Sunny to the tree outside, where there was a rope underneath.
Sunny began unconsciously tying the rope around Mari's neck, but he was too traumatized to look at what he was doing and instead stared up at the leaves, where he found comfort in.
Sunny went to look at who was giving him directions.
It was Basil.
This is why Basil is able to see the "Something" and why he there is a dark thing around him.
Both Basil and Sunny have the same trauma, which is why they share these horrifying sights.
Since they are twelve, it is likely that they did not get away unseen.
There is a piece of dialogue with a shadowy man near a tree in the dream world who says, "You are not my son!" if I am correct.
This would explain why you never see Sunny's dad in the game, but it is just a theory.
Basil and Sunny are best friends, which is why Basil wanted to help him.
It's also most likely the reason Basil is so distraught when he gets the news that Sunny is going to move away- because it would almost be like he helped Sunny for nothing, he would have to carry this trauma with him all by himself, and that his best friend is moving away.
How a twelve year old came up with such a dark idea, I have no clue.
Hopefully this helps anyone who was confused!! :D

Ah I don't think sunny was guided by some voice. I think basil actually happened to be there at the time of the incident and then helped sunny take care of Mari. After realizing how destroyed sunny is basil comes up with the idea of " you didn't do that she killed herself" and they go hang her in the garden on the tree. The creation of that lie was the base for forgetting and pushing away the truth which lead to sunny isolating himself and creating head space. Meanwhile the whole friend group is falling apart. That's also why basil says sorry and asks for forgiveness. Not because he's a reminder but because he constructed that lie which was convinient at first because neither sunny nor basil could deal with putting the blame on sunny for Mari's death but the aftermath of it was worse than if the truth had been out since the beginning. Also I never thought of sunny being unhappy with his Violine skills even though I like that take as well. I understood it as in that sunny didn't like how out of reach Mari was when she started playing piano and to get close to her again he started playing the Violine but he never rly enjoyed it and only did it to keep up with Mari. Mari in the man time pushed sunny because of her sense of perfection which didn't go well because sunny never was contempt with playing the Violine in the first place and I think that conflict was at its hight before the recital. Sunny is frustrated by playing the Violine for his sister but never actually being able to keep up and reach his goal while he is also incredibly unhappy having to play it. He sacrificing a lot but not getting anything in return because the solution to that conflict never was to start playing an instrument as well. Well so sunny destroys his Violine and I think the rest of how you said it is the same as I understood it.
