Thank God I grew up in the 90s. These JDMs is a thing of beauty.. We had a 96 Pajero and we were still using it until 2019. My father in law has a Land Cruiser and still runs like a stud. 💯

Calls it a soft roader and claims it doesn't have low range yet the tcase shifter is ready to punch him in the face. 95 series prado is the same chassis as a 3rd gen 4Runner. These are Off-Road beasts.

If Toyota had sold this stateside back in the 90s, this would've been the first-gen Lexus GX.

If this Prado is going to a rust belt state, make sure you get the underneath fully wax oiled liberally not painted. Prados rust really really badly underneath once introduced to road salt. Id take the brush bar off they look much more modern without it.

Let me enlighten you. This vehicle is prone to IFS collapse especially the ball joints. The auto box is subjected to knocks and rough shifting. These vehicles rust. The upholstery is of very poor quality and the interior plastic is very sensitive to sun and it is easily scratches. Some years have problems with engine head cracking especially earlier models. I can carry on but the main point is that these vehicles don’t age gracefully.

I stand by what I say. The Prados are awesome and head and shoulders over pretty much every car from the mid-90s in terms of build quality and dependability.

Nathan, you must have confused this with ànother vehicle,

Sorry to disappoint you. I am not confusing the Prado with another vehicle and it was very well taken care of. It also had very low millage. However, as I also used a Toyota Hilux which is considered to be exceptionally reliable and was matchlessly serviced every 5K kilometers (yes five thousand according to Toyota’s service book) I can testify that Toyota are pieces of junk. Almost everything failed beside the engine. In fact, three days after taking delivery of a brand new Hilux it failed for the first time. You are brainwashed. Enough to check the number of failures and recalls Toyota has to understand how poor they are.

Right... these things are practically indestructible. You are right about one thing though. If you overlook the old wore out lower ball joints, they will separate.
