My favourite part of the Hornet fights is when she just giggles every so often, like she's having the best time sparring
This was the only thing that kept me sane as I had my ass handed to me over and over. It felt like, every time I did a good job or dodged an especially tricky attack, she would laugh in amused approval.
Yeah, but only in hindsight. In the moment, when you've just swung your nail through empty space again, it's really annoying. Man, I love that fight!

It comedically makes her seem crazy though, considering in the first fight you have with her she intends to actually murder you
I love the Nailmaster bosses in the Pantheon. It's great to see the Nail Arts they teach you in the hands of the masters. Oro does the Dash Slash he teaches you, Mato the Cyclone Slash, and Sheo does a Great Slash. I always thought that it was a great little touch.
You could try the Eternal Ordeal.
It's in a very well hidden room on the top-right ceiling of the practice hall in Godhome, between the 2nd and 3rd columns/arches. Note: getting there takes some creative use of the Crystal Dash.

"Bye Bish" after giving Hornet a smoosh, the audacity! Two great mods come to mind, being Randomizer and the Multiplayer mod, which both give an absolutely fresh take on the game. You did so well, you'll definitely get it! So happy you're back in Hallownest.
Seconding Randomizer, I think that would be a ton of fun! Skurry on Twitch and CZcams has some great challenges they've done that were a ton of fun to watch and could serve as inspiration. :)

There are 2 randomizer mods. 1) item and room randomizer which moves everything around and is really great. Highly recommended. 2) enemy randomizer which can put any enemy (including bosses) anywhere. More of a novelty than something I use often as some enemies glitch out a bit when they find themselves in unusual places. Still crazy and can be fun.
2 more mods that try to give you a new quest are light bringer and glimmering realm. I would look into those.
Finally, I remember fyrenest and transcendence mods bring in some new charms to find and play with.
It's very nice to see you return to Hallownest! This will surely make the wait for Silksong more bearable 😄

Other people have already mentioned them here, but the Randomizer and Multiplayer mods are definitely the two most iconic mods for this game.
There's also a bunch of really pretty and in-depth custom skins for the Knight (and sometimes even for other parts of the game, for example with the Radiance skin, which also alters a lot of the enemies), and some mods even add whole new areas and story beats!
The modding community for this game is definitely incredibly passionate, haha.
I very much second the Radiance skin, the creator did such great work!

Is this a mod? I struggle to remember having different music in each fight in Godhome. I thought it was just one music track for all of them.
@@kobarsos82 Most fights use the default Godhome battle theme, but special fights (for example, Hornet and Mantis Lords) have their own unique themes.
Ah that still sucks I still want the original boss fight music in the rest of them via a mod if possible. The godhome battle theme gets repetitive waaaaay too fast.@@TimeturnerJthanks.
I love that you're finally attempting this. Just some simple hints for the fights.
Against flying enemies your best spell is Abiss Sreek since it hits multiple times, it's the strongest spell.
The desolate dive makes you invincible for some frames as you may have noticed on zote's fight. It is very useful when overwhelmed or when not able to dodge an attack.
When you hear a metal cling noise its because you avoided to get hit by doing a parry. It's very hard to do it intentionally, but at least you can know that you didn't lost life. So no need to panic.
If your using Shaman Stone spells are your absolute best demage source. If you don't wish to use them as often I would suggest using quickslash and mark of pride instead since they will assure you more hits with the nail.
A vote to do a randomizer run. It makes the game feel fresh by making you think about how to get to locations with different skills than normal.
For the door next to the hall of gods, the small notches above indicates how many "bindings" you've done in total, the first "big notch" opens the door, the other ones upgrade it (the prize might not seem apparent at first, but it's in relation with helping you beat the pantheons) Also, the bindings are extra challenges that restrict/remove certain of your abilities. And something you probably won't do but I'll still say it: if you were to defeat a pantheon with all bindings equipped at once, the small notches (the ones above the door to the pantheon itself) will glow up

Hi! Just so you know, the Bindings are extra challenges that you can activate to make the Pantheons harder. The Nail Binding causes your Nail damage to go down to 13, the Shell Binding reduces you to 4 health, the Soul Binding makes it so that you can only carry up to 1 Soul Charge (or 33 Soul), and the Charm Binding unequips all Charms and makes you unable to equip them. The locked door next to the Hall of Gods will only open when you have completed enough Bindings, and will make it so that Lifeblood Coccons appear in those hotsprings in the Pantheons when you go inside. Hope this was helpful!

It's amazing to be able to watch you play Hollow Knight once more. Also, given you've been out of the game for months, your performance on the pantheons was incredible! You will definitely be able to 112% it if you decide to do so.
Absolutely! It’s gonna be grueling, tbh, but I believe in Amber!
I did all Pantheons, here are some tipps:
1.) You can dreamnail bosses to gain soul when they are staggerd, so you can heal (or do more spells). Also most of the times after you defeated a boss, you can still dreamnail them before you change arena.
2.) Sometimes it can be better to just damage-tank a boss and try to do damage as quick as possible (less time = shorter fight). It sounds counterintuitive, but its actually a great way to beat hard or rather unpridicable fights like Zote.
3.) You can use time you have to wait and cant reach the Boss (Gorb for example) to charge up nailarts (or do spells, when you dont want/need to heal).
Advanced tricks:
1.) Shadecloak is very powerefull, there are MANY occations, where you can dash through enemys to doge attacks, most of the time you are in a perfect position to keep hitting the boss from the other side. (A simple example would be Cristal Guardian)
2.) Pogo'ing (downstriking on the enemy) resets both your Doubblejump and Dash without touching the ground. Sometimes its a great way to chase enemys. (My favorite is to Pogo on Soulmaster when hes rushing from one side of the arena to the other. You can Pogo then Quickly Dash to reach him and repeat xD)
3.) Sometimes in tricky situations you can use the 'Desolate Dive'/'Decndeing Dark' Spell to get Invincible (as a Bonus, you do alot of Damage at the same time)

I died a little bit inside when you mistakenly equippd Heavy Blow instead of Quick Slash (which you were going for) at 1:02:30 especially considering you were gonna equip one of the best charms in the game (even more so for the pantheons) but ended up equipping one of the worst ones instead 😂
At least it left room for grubsong. That one’s pretty great up until combat mastery. For one notch cost, it’s a steal!

Its a fun easter egg, not really supposed to be found during normal play but try to find a secret room at the top of the statue room. There's a fun minigame hidden in there.

Dang, I've been so busy with life that I hadn't even noticed you posted this to Patreon. Really happy to see you return to Hollow Knight to tackle the Pantheons! And the fact that you seem interested in the modding scene is also really exciting - I encourage you to specifically look into the Randomizer mod if you want to play the same game but in a new and unpredictable way.
I probably won't be able to follow your new Hollow Knight videos as closely as I did your original playthrough due to IRL obligations, but I am nonetheless very eager to follow along with your progress through the Pantheons!
I'm so happy to hear how much this game means to you, I think a big part of the community shares this feeling. I'm also very happy to see it back! On the content part:
1. You can go through the Pantheons with bindings. Completing all bindings on all pantheons unlocks a little bit of extra lore, if I recall (also, there is Hall of Gods where you can fight each boss separately on different levels of difficulty for training or for completion sake)
2. My favorite mod is Hollow Knight randomizer. There is a LOT you can randomize and also mix and match the randos, so the content (and fun) possibilities are nearly endless (boss, rooms, loot and much more)
3. Not exactly a challenging mod, but if you want to re-play the game and have a bit of extra fun, there is poorly translated mod. The dialogues and item descriptions are translated through a number of languages and then back to English. It's a lot of fun but some of this may be not very SFW

4. If you haven't already, you can get the remaining achievements. It shouldn't take long but very enjoyable nonetheless - especially leaving Zote to die.
You can do it! This was so fun to watch 😆 you're way better than me at the combat, you can definitely complete the entire thing with some patience

I think you should remember to check on the dude on the outside eventually too :))
(it might also be worth trying to deamnail some of the bosses you're fighting in the arena, some of the more intelligent ones have some curious things to say)

a dumb fun mod i love is grassy knight. it adds a tracker that counts all the unique pieces of grass youve cut in hallownest, so you can go around and mow the whole kingdom's lawn
Hollow Knight is my favorite games ever! I love playing it myself and I thoroughly enjoyed watching your playthrough as well. Of course, I do have to take breaks from it now and then, and there are other games to play as well, but Hollow Knight just keeps pulling me back in. The art is gorgeous, the music is stunning, the lore is interesting, and the gameplay is just plain fun. It's been a while since I've played it though. I'm probably horribly rusty. LOL I also still have not finished the pantheons in Godhome either. They're soooo tough!

Well done! Halfway through the third pantheon in one sitting. A couple tips for the longer sets that you'll be getting into: Decending Dark (the down spell) provides invincibility frames. You can use it to dodge when your dash is on cooldown. I find it especially useful for Zote, smash your face into the ground when he does his jump>butt slams and you the shockwaves and deal damage. Second: Quick Slash. The charm increases your damage output by a lot which makes fights shorter which is good for fatigue reasons. Helps in the longer pantheons. Third: if you have trouble dodging certain attacks, try Sharp Shadow. It increases your dash distance in addition to the extra damage. Not everyone's style but it can be useful if you're getting stuck.
As for the blue room, (spoilers): it opens with bindings (basically challenge modes for the pantheons). It does provide a lifeblood-ish deal as you suspect but bindings are rough
Also if you want a fun side thing to do there's a fun bonus room hidden in the ceiling of the practice area. Crystal dash from the right top and try to find the breakable arch (4th or 5th from the right I think). Doing well enough in that rewards you with a new menu screen

That was incredible. Bosses in this game aren't easy in the first place, let alone a boss rush and you absolutely crushed it.

I started another play through a few days ago. I love trying to find as many alternate paths through the game as I can.
Randomizers are great fun! You can get a mod that randomizes the location of every pickup in the game, you can even mix in the ability to use your nail other than down slash.

Little tip: if you want to fight the dream versions of bosses in the hall of gods, use the dream nail on the dream catcher next to their statue.

Things to do:
Randomizer mod! (all item pickups are randomly shuffled onto the map, including boss rewards). Can even change a start room to some other random room rather than king's pass
Re-do the game (maybe on steel soul) and let Zote die in the Greenpath so you do not have to deal with him in the Pantheons
I love how she says she is rusty at the game then goes on to kick some ass. That and having to remind herself to calm down. Just goes to show how excited this game makes people.
The fact that you managed to beat the first two pantheons without a sweat(compared to how i was sweating at least) makes me confident you will be able to beat God-home. The only caveat is that it might take some time...
I spent many many hours practising for the final pantheon, and i was barely able to beat it.
I managed to in the end! but it took a while, just keep that in mind.
You will probably defeat it second try, but hey, just a little info.

impressive stuff, you're already doing much better than me at those pantheons, and I started them right after finishing the game. Some of these fights are really hard, so don't beat yourself up over failing and just keep trying, for as long as you feel like it :)

This is the part where the game chews you up and spits you out making you doubt your gamer credentials and lament that you ever picked up a controller. On a side note my favorite part of your playthrough was, "I've been conned!"
Hey Simbalily welcome back to Hollow Knight. My absolute favorite HK playthrough on youtube 💯 and I've seen a lot of them.
And since you're looking for challenges outside of the pantheon, before you look into any mods there's actually a challenge inside the game that you didn't see through and that's Bretta's quest. Yes you might be surprised but you left Bretta being a prisoner of Zote for what feels like an eternity now .... and that's very unkind of you lol and surprising since you're the sweetest of all. To FREE Bretta you simply have the beat the 4 levels of "Grey Prince Zote" (I think you've beaten only 1 or 2), you'll notice she'll become more and more dissilusioned in Zote and stop listening to him. Only then she'll become a free independent women who no longer believe in the dream of the knight in shining armor. So please make us proud and finish her side quest.

for the bosses with 2 slots by their statues instead of 1 you can dream-nail to do a different version of the same boss. You can dream-nail the mantis lords to fight "the sisters of battle" which is a very fun fight and my favorite.
I would love to see you try out a Hollow Knight randomizer :D it's really well made and will test your ability to think outside of the box with the random acquisition of progression items

Loved this video, i was laughing and cheering you on the whole way through. Can't wait to see you complete the rest of god home, you can do it!
I beat Zote and all the other bosses hitless, Zote is one of the 3 most difficult bosses to do hitless, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is possible to read him but it is tricky at first. Keep your distance when he is on the ground to avoid him running into you, hit him once or twice when you have an opening and take distance again. When he does his nailswing+running attack then just pogo him and when he falls to the ground then either double jump or descend dark (down-arrow+spell-button). Don't jump much, only to avoid those shockwaves. Those exploding balloons: hit those from a larger distance as soon as you can to create space to jump and move sideways in the air when you have to. Those minions, kill those as early as you can but take into account that there is an invulnerability period briefly after they spawn. Other than that, know that he reads your input when he jumps in the air, the best way to avoid him landing on you is to dash on the very last moment after the AI has decided where he lands. When he lands you can get cheap hits by descending dark next to him, he will always land close to you. My advide: hit every boss which you struggle with in the hall of gods and even try to do it at the higher difficulty levels because then you will learn to read the boss much better.

Hollow Knight randomizers are pretty cool, and there is also a mod where the Knight gets a gun. There are a lot more mods, like ones that add more charms, but I think the randomizers/gun mod would be most entertaining (if you were to play any mods on camera)!

Not too long ago your Edith Finch play through showed up in my recommended, then I saw you'd also played Hollow Knight, which became the main thing I watched for the next however many days. Your really funny and entertaining to watch. I'm certainly happy you make content, and was especially happy when this video popped up.
There is one thing you should definitely check out. It's ridiculously well hidden, even for this game. Go to the top right end of the Hall of Gods, hop to the wall as high as you can. Crystal dash to the left past the second ceiling nub, then cancel dash and double jump. There is a breakable ceiling between the second and third ceiling nubs. 🤭

Bindings are a way to make it intentionally harder
if you do the first three with all bindings you get a special bonus help in the last pantheon

I love that this serious continues, I enjoyed it so much. Something that I really enjoyed, after completing Hollow Knight, was trying skips. There is sooo many skips, some are really easy and some are almost impossible. Also trying speedrunning also can be quite fun. I personally think the Any% NMG route is actually quite cool. There is also many custom maps using the mod DecorationMaster. Many of which are very fun although many are also extremely difficult and require knowledge about more "advanced" techniques, in particular fireball skips and spike tunnels

EDIT: i remembered you asked for mod suggestions. I don't play with mods myself (idk how to mod things on switch lol) but i watch someone who does mostly hollow knight content who plays with mods a lot. There's a ton of randomizers out there (item rando, enemy rando, boss rando, bench rando, room rando... just about anything in the game is randomizable lmao)... theres also an ability upgrade mod and an added charms mod which make things just Very Silly in general
The first playthrough is the best, something that can't be repeated. To be able to play it again blind would be a blessing. I'm so glad you enjoyed your playthrough! It was a joy to watch :)
I replayed it after about 2 years on steel soul mode, you don't realize how much you forget, had a lot of fun

Remember to use your Abyss Shriek and Descending Dark spells. The shriek is a good damage dealer and the dive gives you a lot of i-frames.

I love this! People have mentioned the prominent gameplay mods, but there are tons of cosmetic mods as well. You can turn yourself into characters from other games (like Solaire), cute variations of enemies, and even Zote himself
There’s so much content baked into the game that I never had to mess with mods to stay entertained. Obviously you have the pantheons to get 112%. But there’s actually another pantheon that isn’t even part of the 112% which is crazy.
Also, the speedrun achievements are quite approachable, even the 5 hour one is really fun and pretty forgiving. Then there’s the steel soul (deathless) ones.
I’m trying to recall… did you do the path of pain yet? That’s a no brainer
Then there’s the hall of gods, trying to do them all on ascended difficulty. There’s a quirky Zote challenge hidden in the hall or gods as well - I don’t find it very fun but some people like it. Plus just doing the pantheons with bindings on.
So there is a TON of content in this game if you want to keep going. I’m happy to watch any of it!
