Welcome to my Art Practise
Embellishing the Surface is my way of creating textures that are interesting and change the way You as the viewer look at fabric.
Stitching into the surface gives me a changing palette and adding colours brings the artwork to life. In my art practise my approach is to chop the fabrics into small confetti styled pieces, and then mix the colours and textures to create beautiful new fabrics. I use raw edge applique and thread painting to enhance these surfaces.
I teach in Australia and Internationally and also host online workshops through my website. I teach my techniques of fabric embellishments and textured surface workshops and love to inspire and encourage everyone to experience the creative side of Textile Art.
I host Australian and International tutors here in Australia at events in Urunga NSW my home town I host The Sewing up a Coastal Storm Retreat and the Sewing Up a Storm in the Desert Retreat at Uluru in the Northern Territory. I also have an online magazine called the Digital Cloth where I promote these events, artists and creators from all around the world.
