    I bought the thumb stud version a couple of years ago. It’s my “going out” knife. I didnt like how the thumb stud sat with it closed so I shaved the handle around the stud just enough, now it’s perfect! Plan on buying another just so in case something happens to the original.

    I bought the thumb stud version first and always had difficulty getting the knife to open reliably and the blade lock was difficult because I had difficulty with the pass through or more likely lack of pas through Always tore up the pad of my thumb and nail. I like the flipper much better. I find it exponentially easier to open and I have less difficulty closing it too. This knife makes a good folding steak knife as well! Until I got my Honey Badgers I carried it often. Good review, Beez!

    Nice review! I'm not a big fan of CRKT knives in general. But this CEO flipper is an extremely sleek and appealing design where the wow factor comes from how minimal and clean it looks. Ordered the CEO flipper with black handle and black blade and I already know I'll take this knife with me everywhere.

    I got both versions of the CEO and it is more like a 1.0 and a 2.0. The flipper has a longer blade by just a hair and I don't think any parts would interchange other than fasteners. You are correct the thumb stud/1.0 version can be tough to deploy but with a little practice I got it down pretty well. Actually Amazon shipped me two of the 1.0's that never showed so if they ever turn up I might have a couple to send out.

    I always wanted a CEO . Not sure why I didn’t end up with one . I still want the thumb stud version though . I love how completely streamline the shape is on the thunmb stud version . I know that little flipper tab shouldn’t make that much difference in my mind , but it takes that streamline and throws a bump in it to me . Don’t get me wrong , I would still try the flipper version of the opportunity presents itself , I just prefer the thumb stud version looks . It just seem like a perfect backup or dress up carry !! Thanks for the video !! Take care brother ..

  • @jn651
    @jn651 Před 3 lety +2

    Nice. Always intrigued me, the CEO. This vid made me get out my CRKT LCK and compare. The LCK is a little wider in handle (3/4") and blade (3/4"), heavier by a mile (no milling on liners) (and yeah, wrong units lol), but about 1/2 the price and it's also pointy like, like a thing that's really pointy. Coincidentally, both names 3-letter acronyms...irrelevant but 'huh.' So you might like one of those also. I have one lying around if you want to check it out but dont want to spend the 15 - 20+shipping dollars...

    • @BeezBlades
      @BeezBlades  Před 3 lety +1

      You know, fractions make more sense to me since I've used tape measures my whole life, but everybody wants decimals . I have like 15 tape measures and that's what I'm used to. The LCK looks like more of an actual knife. If my channel grows to the point I have shipping money, remind me and I'll do it for sure. Thanks Ninja.

    • @jn651
      @jn651 Před 3 lety +2

      @@BeezBlades Amen to fractions! My boss on site never asked for a board "six feet, two inches, and a hundred and twenty-five thousandths" lol. Heck, some reviewers (rhymes with nettles bomb flex) use a standard tape but then say 'three point six, three point seven' and that's just pretending to use the thing anyway. And I'd ship it to you; I meant "if you don't want to buy one from the Ruger website for 15 or 20 dollars plus whatever they'd charge for shipping" 😁👍

    The one thing everyone either ignores or just doesn't know about is that the CEO flipper and exec flipper by Richard Rogers are essentially copies of the Chinese version of the CEO and executive that has been around for as long as the original executive has long before crkt or Richard Rogers put a flipper on either of these knives

    What're you opinions on the detent and flipper tab? I've seen a fairly large number of reviews commenting the knife is very difficult to open, even people cutting their fingers on the sharpness of the flipper tab.

    • @BeezBlades
      @BeezBlades  Před 2 lety +5

      The flipper on mine isn't sharp, and I learned that if you start with your index finger resting above the tab, it opens perfectly. If you use the flipper tab, starting with your fingertip on top of the flipper, it's much more difficult to open. It seems to be made for the "light switch" approach.

    what are flat grinds good for exactly?

    • @BeezBlades
      @BeezBlades  Před 3 lety +3

      I mean, I would more-than-most blades are a flat grind from the edge to a certain point towards the spine. They are strong, but technically the thickness behind the edge gets a hair thicker every time they are sharpened. If you have a thin blade stock or a nice, deep blade they can be super slicey!
