  • After a whole year, we're back in the High Point Carolina Thrift! It may be the only one left, so let's go check it out!
    (I'm noticing a real theme of "let's visit dead/dying retail establishments in my videos lately. It's just a coincidence, I swear, but it is kinda strange.)

    Buc-ee's is the greatest Gas station of all time. They have the cleanest bathrooms you'll ever visit, more homemade snacks and jerkies than you'll ever need, an entire restaurant with some bomb food, a store section, the list goes on and on. I'm Texas born and raised and make it a point on every road trip I go on to fill up, grab some raspberry yogurt coated pretzels and chocolate-covered espresso beans, and take a leak at one of the 50 urinals in the men's restroom, So when you said "This is from....Buc-ee's? I don't know what that is" I immediately shot up and wrote this so you can now know about one of the most beloved icons in the greatest state of Texas

    So those boards you were asking about. They are protective pads for an extendable table. A nice dining room table will have a protective pad you can put over the top for a durable work surface. If it is an extendable table it will have ‘leaves’ that can be inserted to extend the length of the table. Those pieces are the protective pads that accompany each ‘leaf’

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  Před 4 lety +9

      What I don't understand is, what are people doing on their tables that makes a table protector necessary? Are they chopping up bodies on it with axes or something?

    • @SouthernASMRSounds
      @SouthernASMRSounds  Před 4 lety +1

      I guess, but the hard surface of those things is made of this thin plastic material. I can't imagine that it would fare too well with hot things being placed on it.

      @SouthernASMR Sounds My family dining room table has the protectors and we use them for protection from scratches and stains in general. Seems kinda silly because tables are made to be used but we use our protectors because the table is over 100 years old and a beautiful heirloom that belonged to my great-grandmother.

    I absolutely love thrifting and going to op shops (vinnies, salvos, might be an Aussie thing idk) but the profits from them go to charity and everything is meant to be cheap so people who don’t have a lot can afford to buy there. But lately they’ve all been putting the prices up a lot and I feel bad because it’s becoming less affordable for the less fortunate

    I believe that those burgundy colored velvet folded things are what are used to protect your wooden dining tables. They're supposed to protect your table from heated food in their bowls, or dishes when they are served on the table, so they don't leave rings in the finish of the wood. They are used when you put a table cloth over your table. The velvet side goes down to protect the table from getting scratched. Usually, they are custom fit for your table. I remember that my Great-Aunt had them for her dining table.

    The folded pieces you use to film with are table covers to protect wooden tables from becoming scratched or worn over time. They connect together and lay over the table’s surface. My grandmother has had a set for her dining room tables for as long as I can remember, almost 30 years.
