    Fyi, there is a wire tucked behind the radio that is a reverse wire. Only has power when light comes on. Its only used on nav models with stock backup camera. Mine did not have that, so its tucked behind radio. Works great

    Will this exact setup and parts work on a 2006 limited sequoia with JBL speakers ?

      Yes it will, the big difference with the JBL system is the required interface for the new head unit since the JBL system uses a separate amp. Some interfaces only integrate the amp/speaker system, some will retain steering wheel control and some will add additional steering wheel control functionality by allowing each steering wheel button to be programmed for two functions each, long press and short press.
      Also, on the limited you should have an additional switch panel under the HVAC controls, where he has a bin, for the ride height controls. If you want to retain the heated seats, you can pop out one of the switch blanks and purchase a factory style switch to fit there. You can also drill out a blank and add a toggle switch to the blank for a cheaper option. Also, you can add a three position DPST on-off-on type switch and add a front camera as well.

    You're the best there is brother! Question, I've watched a different video and he connected it to the reverse light so anytime he switched gears it would let the radio know and automatically turn on the backup camera? Is there a benefit to having an independent switch?

      Hello! As you can see at 1:21 in the video, there are no reverse lights to tap into the on the tailgate. On this car, the reverse lights are actually mounted on the quarter panel. This means there is no direct way to tap into them as I’m routing the wire from the camera to the headliner area. That’s why I went with a switch. If I’m not wrong the video you watched was probably for a facelift version of the 1st gen. sequoia where the reverse lights are also on the tailgate.
      I’ve been driving the car for almost a month now, and honestly the switch works great. It’s very accessible so I have no issues flipping it on/off whenever I go into reverse. A small added advantage is that I can now turn the backup camera on whenever I want (even if I’m not in reverse gear).
      Appreciate the kind words, and thank you for watching/subscribing! 😊

      There is a reverse wire behind the radio tucked back. It's only used on models that came with a backup camera stock. There is also a reverse wire near drivers feet. I used the one behind the radio. Super easy and works great. There's a video on CZcams on how to find it.

    Great video but why didn't you connect it to the reverse light power?

    • @theautochap
      @theautochap  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello, I didn’t connect it to the reverse power wires because there are no reverse lights on the tailgate/hatch, as I explain at 1:09 in the video. Thanks for watching! 😀

      @@theautochap hi, I saw that in the video but why not wire it to the reverse light on the taillight? I’m only asking because I’m going to try and do it myself next week

    • @theautochap
      @theautochap  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@BrotherJudahLion to wire it to the reverse light on the quarter panel, you’ll need to route the wire from the headliner to the quarter panel. To do this you have to remove the big plastic interior trim piece which is a bit of a pain. If you can remove that piece you might be able to power the camera using the reverse lights but I can’t confirm since I didn’t go that route. Hope that helps!
