As a Car Trek Maserati owner, I have to say, they can be fixed. But this seems to have been filmed before Car Trek 3 was shot. Mona is beyond redemption.
Can i just add they arnt all unreliable... here in the UK we have to do an annual test to make ensure they are road legal. So most cars are kept to a fair standard. My quattroporte has the ZF 6 speed which got rid of most of those transmission issues anyway and with 89,000 miles on it its been extreamly reliable.
@@M67v as long as the battery is strong there shouldnt be an issue. I havent had any electrical issues personally. All of my “problems” have been wear and tear items like brakes and bushes and shocks
yep, same, have had my 2007 ZF 4yrs now - perfect reliability, and very easy to carry out standard maintenance items, these cars are amazing. Beautiful to look at, listen to and feel

I watched an old top gear and I found that clarkson, Hammond and may liked the new (at the time) Maserati quattroporte. This must have been an episode from 06 or 05, clarkson gave an anecdote for it “it’s like having a 2 year old...annoying as shit most of the time but you would kill anyone who would take it away from you.” Obviously they only had it for a short few weeks and didn’t get the full ownership experience.
I don't know it looks good to me - you guys are driving a 20yr old car that was most likely abused and its driving composed in luxury and seems to have quiet cabin still with nice looking leather seats. My expectations were exceeded. The sticky buttons are a supplier issue that affected BMW, Ferrari and many other automakers not just Quattroporte.
I worked at an auto auction for 2 years. Out of all the seriously unreliable cars we got, Maserati was always a problem car. Always. No other Italian car was as terribly problematic as Maserati
I'm very partial towards Maserati. It's easier to forgive the mistakes when it sounds better and looks better than anything else on the road. While I love the Alfa 8C, my attainable dream car is the GranTurismo S.
I love my ghibli sq4. It sounds great, looks great, it's relatively fast and i got a great price used. The ZF 8 speed trans feels great mated to the TTV6. 🤷♂️ 👀

The area that I've been working at in Pittsburgh (Sewickley, where almost all of the Pirates and Steelers players live) and I've seen quite a few exotic cars, but I have only seen one Maserati SUV, and I'm fairly certain there's a reason for that...and it isn't because these people can't afford it.

There is simply unreliable cars that don't work, Cadillac Northstar equipped vehicles, Land Rover-Range Rover Sports from 2006 to 2010 to name a few. Those cars just randomly won't work. breakdown, but there is one thing this video shows. It shows that even with all of these problems the car still works. So a car that continues to function, despite poor maintenance, and things not functioning properly doesn't equate to a unreliable vehicle - the opposite really.
Btw, VINWiki (you said his name, I thought it was Ben, but I forget because I was working on my car when you said it) mentioned a famous Jeremy Clarkson line, "you need to own at least one Alfa Romeo in your life," should also remember the episode when Jeremy bought an old Maserati Merak, Captain Slow (James May), bought an old Lamborghini with a charging problem, and Richard Hammond bought an old Ferrari Dino (255 HP V6) that ran just fine. The Maserati was a complete failure almost the entire time, and the Lamborghini was a turd as well because it had electrical issues (go figure...Italian electronics).
I have a co worker wo currently owns a granturismo, previously he owned a XJ8, and before that a 750. But to his credit, he got 100,000 mile guarantee from this private dealer, so he owns them for like 3 or 4 years, then hops into something else. That's the only way to go on cars like this.
First Maserati I ever saw was a glorified Chrysler lebaron. My grandparents watched over the car for a friend while they were away. The cars look great in a design point but all of them are basically rebadged cars or are a plethora of parts from multiple brands rolled into one
The only Italian brand that was dealt a worse hand is Lancia, and even that's debatable. Still in love with them. Too bad they are going to rust before they become cheap enough to convert to a track day car with proper ECU and interior delete.
8:12, that is because it is a luxury brand. Look at 2020 and 2021 models, they are truly a piece of art and they are a whole lot more reliable now. I drive an Alfa Romeo and I love to go to the dealership and learn about their sales and service and I rarely see a new Maserati/Alfa Romeo in their service department. The main ones in there are the 2015, '16, and '17 cars.

Have owned a 2014 Quattroporte GTS for 4 years. AC compressor had to be replaced :( Only major problem so far. TTV8 put 470whp on the Dyno.
C5 rs6 is kind of in that category where the parts are almost worth more than the whole car.
if you find one that was actually taken care of they actually quite pleasant, the v8 in that car is fantastic

I think If you put it on a stand alone ecu so you could get rid of all of the standard wiring on it then it probably wouldn't be that bad 😂
