I've always suffered from motion sickness since a young age and like most people I really don't like it. Thankfully I now know what to do and I'm going to share that knowledge with you in this weeks video.

SYMPTOMS OF MOTION SICKNESS:
• Feeling sick (nausea)
• Sweating
• Increase in saliva
• Headaches
• Feeling cold and going pale
• Feeling weak
HOW TO PREVENT MOTION SICKNESS:
Prepare for your journey
• Don't eat a heavy meal before travelling.
• On long journeys, try breaking the journey to have some fresh air, drink some cold water and, if possible, take a short walk.
Where you sit
• Keep motion to a minimum. For example, sit in the front of a car, over the wing of a plane, or on deck in the middle of a boat.
• On a boat, stay on deck and avoid the cafeteria or sitting where your can smell the engines.
Breathing and smell
• Breathe fresh air if possible. For example, open a car window.
• Avoid strong smells, particularly petrol and diesel fumes. This may mean closing the window and turning on the air conditioning, or avoiding the engine area in a boat.
Using your eyes and ears differently
• Close your eyes (and keep them closed for the whole journey). This reduces 'positional' signals from your eyes to your brain and reduces the confusion.
• Try listening to an audio book with your eyes closed. There is some evidence that distracting your brain with audio signals can reduce your sensitivity to the motion signals.
• Try to sleep - this works mainly because your eyes are closed, but it is possible that your brain is able to ignore some motion signals when you are asleep.
• Do not read or watch a film.
• It is advisable not to watch moving objects such as waves or other cars. Instead, look ahead, a little above the horizon, at a fixed place.
OVER THE COUNTER MEDICINES
Always speak to your pharmacist they will be able to recommend the best treatment for you or your child.
Medicines are best taken before the journey. They may still help even if you take them after symptoms have begun, although once you feel sick you won't absorb medicines from the stomach very well.
Some medicines used for motion sickness may cause drowsiness. Some people are extremely sensitive to this and may find that they are so drowsy that they can't function properly at all. Always speak to your pharmacist and read the information leaflet.
Hyoscine is usually the most effective over the counter medicine for motion sickness. It works by preventing the confusing nerve messages going to your brain. There are several brands of medicines which contain hyoscine - they come in a tablet, patch and soluble form for children.
Certain antihistamines can also be useful, although they are not quite as effective as hyoscine for motion type sickness. However, they usually cause fewer side-effects for example, cinnarizine.
WHEN TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR:
There are a number of anti-sickness medicines which can only be prescribed by your healthcare professional. Let them know what you’ve tired as finding what medicine works best can sometimes be a case of trial and error.

Yes, essential oils do help
Wow, how weird. I literally was just thinking, "I wonder whether sniffing Essential oils can stop motion sickness." Then I typed in "natural ways to combat motion sickness" and stumbled on this comment. Thanks so much for confirming ☺️
The worst for me is on bus... Hate school trips. While all of my friends are sitting in the back, having fun, I have to be in the front, staring out of the window and ignoring the teachers who are mad at me for having to sit in the third row because they don't want to clean my vomit if I sit there.

i was diagnosed with motion sickness at only 1 and a half, and ever since then me and my parents have tried all these.. i'm 12 and still cant find a cure for it. unfortunately his video didn't work ....but i still liked it. i guess i will just get extreme motion sickness until I die?
EDIT: I'm 14 now and I just want to say thank you for all your replies. I have found a reliever for my motion sickness. I usually just listen to music and look forward, additionally, sitting on newspaper helps me a lot. I also discovered I have issues with motion sickness because I also suffer from ADHD (which I only recently got diagnosed for) I have fish that help me relax now and before I leave the house to get in a car I always look/ talk to them.

I have motion sickness my whole life but throughout the years I’ve learned how to control it more or less. I’m getting sick usually in cars and buses but when I’m driving I’m completely fine. Before travel I try to not eat or I eat just a little bit. When I know it will be a long journey, I’m getting some tablets for motion sickness. During the travel, I’m closing my eyes and sleeping and this helps a lot.
With me is the same, when i drive its fine. Yesterday i had an eleven hour trip, all of the time i was sick specially after eating, big mistake. One thing that helped me alot was eating mint candy. Is stopped imediatly my headache and nausea.
Same when I drive I feel great but the minute someone else is driving I feel like absolute 💩. I’m gonna try the motion sickness ginger medicine and see if that helps.
I am always getting sick. My body’s reaction when I first get in a car is terrible.
Even before we leave for a long trip I’ll start feeling really sick then once I get in the car...I think we all know what happens next
I hope these tips can help me.
Thank you so much for this video I hope they will help

@Xavier Robloxking That's a whole journey but I was thinking it'd be faster tho cuz traffic but I rather suffer in train than smelling that glorious smell of fuel in old cars
Dude, I start having headaches just by the mere thinking of a long journey in a car. No matter how much I try to distract myself, I eventually puke horribly. And once it starts, it won't stop. The only useful thing I found was closing your eyes and not speaking for the entire journey.
If you suffer motion sickness do not I repeat do not go into one of those flying simulation vehicles in the arcades that move you about on hydrolics. That was the worst experience of my life, nausea over whelmed me so much I had to press the emergency stop button. I was in it with my nephew and he was really enjoying the ride so I was tolerating it but it just got too much.
Not all heroes wear capes..
Was it a sealed off vehicle or did it have open top or sides?

Basically, I have motion sickness so when ever I try to travel I was facing this obstacles but once upon the time i traveled to a very distant city at that time I was worrying to much but luckily when my trip started I turned on the Quran on my phone to enjoy listening to the word of god and it was connected to my earphone.
Then I felt happy and comfortable
Alhamdulilah.
Alhamdulilah
My parents used to say that this is a disease which only a few people have. But now I know why j was suffering from this. Thanks. This was a very useful video!!!😘❤️❤️💖💖
Glad my tips helped!
I feel sick even just talking about it, maybe bc of trauma
I’ve had severe motion sickness and have come to most of the same conclusions you talked about via research and experience. One thing I’ll say is that ginger (in my experience) has been extremely helpful in curbing my motion sickness, it usually still comes but is much more manageable.
Verified: eating a ginger candy after severe motion sickness has helped it subside to a more manageable state, although still existing, is much better.
NOTE: Hyoscine may make you sleepy.
Alright, a ginger candy is like my last option to my motion sickness problem and if it doesn't work, I'm doomed forever. I'll just edit this reply if it worked or not.
@@Shikarou188 did it work?
@@tenebrerossosangue Heck yeah it did but you still kinda feel it but it's enough to make you feel comfortable.
@@Shikarou188 amazing!! which candies did you eat?
My stepdad always told me:”Sam just look at the horizon, it will level you out”
Bruh he evil lol don't look through the windows it could make it worse and that beautiful fuel smell in the car.
My niece does scuba diving tours. I used to get sick on boats all the time. She told me to take raw ginger pills. What she said is most people take the pill right before getting on the boat, which is a mistake. She told me to start taking it 7 days before and continue through the riding on the boat, so the ginger is running through your body. After years, I haven't gotten sick since.
I GET MOTION SICKNESS....it usually is linked to the smell in the plane!!!! its just this bad smell that lingers in planes.
also i have found that the sound of the engine and the time of the food service makes me nauseous.
this year i took some gingerbread men on the plane with me and i did not feel as sick as i have been in my past plane journeys. it really does work!!!!!
Thanks for commenting and the tip :) I am also the same as soon as I can smell the food I feel nauseous, will give the gingerbread man trick a go on my next flight. Lisa THE reason is your brain has translated teh smell and thought as YOUR BODY HAS BEEN POISONED thats why you feel you want to throw up. its trying to reject the poison out...
TAKING GINGER WILL HELP CAUSE GINGER HAS A PROPERTY THAT CAN BLOCK THE EFFECT OF CERTAIN POISONS
Lisa Shannon damn so relatable, I hate those smells inside unhygienic planes , smells like vomit, I think that makes it worse
Also peppermint spray with ginger helps a lot. Anything with ginger my mom says, she also gets carsick.

1) closing eyes helps and listening to music too
2) make a playlist of you fav songs and listen in earphones and listening to music that you dont like will make you sick more so dont turn on radio😆
3)eating a sandwich or cold light meal like curd yogurt before helps dont during too much water.
My problem is the rides at the theme parks. I can't handle any ride that spins around or goes backwards. I've tried Dramamine but even the non drowsy makes me sleepy and is not real effective when it comes to some of the extreme rides. I may see an ent specialist.

Interesting video. I used to get terrible car motion sickness, but ever since I started driving myself, I never get car sickness whether I am a driver or passenger. I travelled on a ferry to the Channel Islands three times in the last few years. First I sat as far to the back of the ship as possible and had no sickness, second I sat at the very front and suffered horrendous sickness, so much that I abandoned the front seat and sat at the back for the rest of the journey. Third I sat in the middle and suffered from sickness, and then fourth, I sat at the very back and suffered no sickness. I don't have much experience by plane, but when I travelled to Jersey (Channel Islands) I got some motion sickness feeling from the movement of the aircraft (this was actually my first ever flight and I was sat above the wings), however, I was only nearly sick when the plane aborted its landing. The feeling was like no other, and I don't want to rush to experience that feeling again. The flight back was fantastic, no sickness whatsoever. Also, when I used to take anti-sickness tablets, I used to find that they made me sick. I don't know if anyone else has ever experienced that before.

I have suffered from motion sickness my entire life (I'm 19 years old now). I can't travel more than 10 minutes. I've tried everything but even medicines don't really work. Just mentioning travelling terrifies me :(
Same:(
Mate your not alone
The first thing you do before travelling is take 3-4 hours of sleep
Second is Eat Ginger everytime you get the urge
Right now I was going somewhere in the car in felt dizzy and about to throw up,I came home and searched for this
Hope my tips help
I got diagnosed in motion sickness ever since I ate to much candy on valentines day when I was 8 (I'm 10 now) and I threw up. I feel very sick at the first 10 minutes and one time I almost threw up. But now I just sit on my phone for only five minutes then take a break from closing my eyes and falling asleep! It prevents from getting motion sickness and it's a shorter drive! This video helped A LOT! Thank you.

@@anon4718 Lucky you. For me, if it's a flight over 4 hours, I'm usually vomiting.
Purchase a Relief Band

I get sick immediately I step in the car
I think its the smell of the fuel
I get sick the moment I smell the inside of a car
But if they leave the window open the whole ride I'm fine
look for your eyes, eye desalingament can cause that, its called BVD, Binocular Vision Dysfunction, treat it with prism lens, I've never did it myself but you can see about it on youtube the testimonials of ppl who were healed with those prism lens, turns out that there is an eye problem in some cases of motion sickness

People with VR headsets will know the feeling of motion sickness
Guess who got one for Christmas
I've had motion sickness forever but it's really weird. I went on a few school trips in secondary school and while doing my A levels which why i noticed how weird it is. If I was only going on like a 30 min -- 1 hour bus ride, it could make me feel really unwell by the time we get there but I've now been to London twice on a trip which is a 4 hour ride and felt pretty okay.
I would recommend travel bands u can get them in a pharmacy or online the have helped me so much and now I can go anywhere without the worry of will I be sick? Best of luck xx

Does anyone else feels this? Whenever I get home after a long car drive, I feel just as bad as I did in the car.
Yes same
I do have motion sickness from childhood. But now when i m on driving seat, i can travel as much as I can. When not driving, it starts again. So this video makes sense, do not look outside towards moving vehicles.

Last night i was suffered by motion sickness in the car and felt very awkward in among the peoples who were present in the car .
I and many other people may get nauseous due to the foul smell of the airplane - what I’ve done in the past that has helped is either chew gum and focus on the smell of it or take some type of absorbent cloth, put it in a baggie and put some lavender or other extract scents onto the cloth and keep it in the baggy and when you feel nauseous, make sure to smell the baggie inside. And of course, I as well take Dramamine for motion sickness - works like a charm every time!!
I feel really stupid when I get travel sickness. My mom got it and I got it, we both get really easy travel sickness. And it is worst for me when I got to travel during the morning. It's my worst nightmare!!!

Same
Same here me and my mom just hates the smell of car.
Thank you for the tips. I have had this for years even if I am on the car for 5 minutes. I always tend to pass out on the plane too so I’m afraid to travel on my own which I would love to do.
You are so welcome!
TIPS !!!!
i had the worst motion sickness before, when i was a teen ager. like the moment i see the car or bus im going to ride, i vomit already 😂 i really hate the smell of AC and everytime the car or bus stop, i throw up. then there's a time i used to attend review class EVERYDAY, which is 2 hours on journey, i noticed that i don't feel nauseous anymore and i don't get dizzy. until i finally overcome the motion sickness and now i don't feel it anymore. elders says, when you used to ride airconditioned vehicles, like everyday, your motion sickness will be gone, just like what happened to me. but i know it's not that easy so here some tips i used to do before when i had motion sickness.
1. sit next to window and look at the horizon
2. don't move your head 😂 just look straight
3. practice deep breathing when you know the car is going to stop, hold your breath. everytime the car stop hold your breath.
4. put heavy things on your stomach, like bags, anything heavy. hug it until you can't breath 😂 jk.
5. wear facemask and put lemon or orange skin inside the mask and smell it.
6. before going to ride, take a mint candy.
Thanks for sharing!
That is why I have a phobia in riding a car ,bus or even a boat...because of that motion sickness
Hi Abraham these tips are great. It is interesting and so useful. I think it is awful the motion sickness. Ginger is good to prevent sickness. Focusing on horizon is a sensible thing to do.Always you are helpful and your advice is welcomed. Especially when you explain in such a easy and straight forward way.Thank you. I wonder if you could use those wrist bands as a precaution. Thank you for video and blessings and hugs and greetings. xoxo
Thanks for commenting Patricia, glad I could help :) Glad to hear ginger has helped also :)

It's not the vomiting that's the problem, it's the dizziness
Great video!!! I have tried the ginger trick and it does help with calming it down. Barcelona looks amazing! I always look forward to your videos!
Thanks for commenting, good to hear ginger helps, glad I could help :)
Thank you a lot Abraham I'll definitely try these! This Monday I'll be flying to Seattle from Nevada with two flights. I get motion sickness sometimes but the last time I was on a plane was 2 years ago. What adds on top of that is I have emetophobia (the fear of vomit) so I am very anxious and I need rreasurance. But thank you so much for the tips I'll definitely try them! 😄👍

Yaa i hate when the plane goes up and down .
Omg right
When I go to the car and just sit in it without moving I feel sick and I really hate it so I begin to try to sleep or eat or listen to songs and get in the mood and it really helps so good

Just had the most miserable 2 days of my life driving to Florida. Already been struggling with anxiety for two years now but I’ve never gotten any type of car sick or motion sickness in my life. But since my anxiety is getting worse I think it triggered me to have a carsickness. I’m basically felt like I couldn’t breathe and had to forcibly breathe and my chest felt like it was a knot and my legs and arms were shaking like crazy. I was also going back-and-forth between being too hot and being too cold to where I was freezing. Seriously thought I was gonna die.
I always get car sickness even when i’m in the front seat, looking out the window, and sleeping.

I recently have been feeling sick right before I know I’m going to drive and during driving I feel so sick, I like vomiting and dizziness and when other people drive. But as soon as I get of the car i feel back to normal. I was never like this, in fact I enjoyed going out for drives and I haven’t had a bad experience while driving
i hate having this condition when my friends are having fun in the car while im almost died because of motion sickness
7.5 hour flight tomorrow really don’t want to be sick on it
