- After having these three 24"x24" panels in the corner for about a year, I finally decided to open them up and get to work. This video details the first several layers of paint and collage on these panels and I LOVED playing on big panels again!

I believe most of us paint in our lounge wear or PJs. Love watching how these came together. Makes me want to work larger too. Just wish I had the space. 💕🐞✂️💕
Thanks so much! Yes, space helps for sure. What you can’t see is that the dresser that used to be against that wall is shoved over to the right, in front of my shelves so I can have the wall space to paint 🤣
SPEC. TACK. YOU. LAR! So great to see you working on these multiple larger pieces. Love your colour choices - they seem to be mine these days as well and to watch you create magic with them is so inspiring. As always, thank you for sharing your process, your talent and yourself. Be well! ♥ EDIT: You ALWAYS look cute.. lol... 😆
Thank you!! ❤️❤️❤️
This post needs even more hearts ☺️: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is so cool to see you work large (and to see your husband walk in😊)! I just love your style, from a tiny grid journal square to large work like this. Beautiful!🍀💖
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Fabulous. Your 'go to whoa' process always inspires me and looking forward to the second instalment. I love your philosophy and your enthusiasm. You have helped me see my issues with contrast of which I have a tendency to keep all my colours high key which makes my work look 'blah' and lacking zest. So I am taking your gung-ho attitude on board, and maybe wear pj's
Haha! I HIGHLY recommend the pjs! 😆 Thank you so much for sharing this with me - I’m so glad you’ve been finding my videos helpful. Go for it!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Those paintings look fabulous.
Thank you so much! ❤️
"I love all three, although the one on the left is my favorite. I would have left it at the moment you added the red or burgundy... there, it seemed perfect to me. Anyway, I like them a lot until the moment you finished the video, and I also like how you paint."🤩
❤️❤️❤️
I totally agree with what you said about it being. It is easier to work on more than one piece. I've done a couple of 12 grid pieces and loved it I found it so freeing for want of a better word, lol. Thanks so much for your tutorials they are so inspiring 💗
❤️❤️❤️
As for dress code... I am with you!!!😊
Haha! Love it! Cozy painting clothes for the win! 🙌🏻
Wow, and the colour contrast is impeccable
Thanks so much! ❤️🌈
Thank you for sharing your magical creativity! So much depth! So much to imagine in these three! WOW. I'm inspired. Here I go, into my playroom, NOW!
Hooray! Have fun! And thank you! ❤️
Oh, these are fantastic! What a joy to watch you paint larger....at last. And to see more of you, than just your hands. I think you should do lots more Large pieces. And your sweet husband popping in, taking a look at them & saying "Wow!" It is intriguing to watch you add your line work, loved it when you painted with your hand, love the drips, & wondering what you will do next. Great job. So fun to watch you create.
Thank you so much - I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback ❤️❤️❤️
Love your work! You really need to create a bumper sticker, vinyl sticker...."pause and add collage"! Love it!
Hahaha! Love it! Thank you ❤️
These are so wonderful and appealing! I'm waiting for the bold Jackie black curved lines.
Haha! Stay tuned, you never know… 😆❤️
It's fascinating to watch you move between the 3 canvases continuously!
❤️❤️❤️
I love your commentary about choices. Having a tough day with a painting that seemed just not to work. But watching you has just revived my motivation just to push on and make new choices😊
I’m so glad to hear that this gave you motivation to go back and keep working! You can do it! ❤️❤️❤️
What do u use to adhere papers to your canvas? Thanks!😊
I love the one on the right! It reminds me of looking out a window.
That one is my favorite at the moment too (but shhh, don’t tell the other 2! 😆)
you are so down to earth and I watch many of your videos. you explain good ideas, thanks
I’m so glad to hear that - thank you! ❤️
YES! Quin gold is the best!
Isn’t it? ❤️❤️❤️
Loved watching you work on these..very inspiring!
Thank you so much! ❤️
Love it all! Always so fun watching you paint!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Very inspirational Jackie. Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome - I’m glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! LOVE YOUR WORK.! MAY BIG GOD BLESS YOUR HANDS CONTINUALLY
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Very cool. I really like those panels so far. Can’t wait for the grand finish! TFS ❤
Thanks so much! ❤️
Loving these. Great colours…and everything else. Looking forward to seeing them finished.
Thanks so much 😊
Enjoyed watching these three come together, they seem very done from here. Thanks for sharing 🍻
Thank you! Cheers! ❤️
All of them are fabulous & my favorite is the center piece.
Thank you! ☺️
How fun! You might look into that cream Robert Burridge puts on his hands if he is painting. It helps the paint come off and protects hands.
GREAT idea - thanks for the reminder!
Ah, we love Mom!!
❤️❤️❤️
Brilliant 👏 ❤🎉
❤️❤️❤️
Flourescent red is glorious
I agree 🤩❤️
Your reminder about not becoming too precious is really important for me. 😊
Yes, it’s only paint. Keep going ❤️❤️❤️
My favourite video of yours. I love your colour choices andthe direction your paintings are heading. Thank you. Can't wait for part 2!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, I appreciated this video so much. I have yet to try more than one painting at a time because I thought they would be too matchy-matchy but you showed me that is not the case at all. Plus I loved watching you create (even in triple time 😊). All the info in this video is amazing and thank you for that too.
You are so welcome - I’m glad it was helpful! I think you’ll find that painting a few paintings at a time will actually free you up to try different things on each one and play more as each one becomes less precious. ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely gorgeous!! 👏👏👏❤. I love all of them 😍❤️
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
What a treat! ❤🧡💛
So glad you like it! ❤️❤️❤️
We call this athlesiure! 😂 I always enjoy your vids but these were really fun to see come together in a set. 😍
Yes - athleisure, for sure! 😆😆😆 Thank you so much! ❤️
As a new painter it was great to see the work in progress from a “step back” perspective. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Greetings Jackie! I love the leap to the canvas and the idea of working on multiple canvases at once. The colour combination is quite energizing, yet in a very balanced way. I enjoyed the journey. It warmed my heart to see just how your husband greeted you as he checked on you. Thank you always for keeping things real. Your authenticity, and practicality are always refreshing. Thank you for sharing.🙏🏽🥰💖✨💖✨💖💐💐💐
Thank you so much, Ingrid - I always appreciate your encouragement and positivity ❤️❤️❤️
Loved this demo, and seeing how you tackle larger works in series. Again I kept thinking to myself, I would be happy with that there, and then you add the next bit and .......oh now that is better. And on and on. Can't wait to see any updates on these. I'm also reminded of the series of the 9 little paintings. I think there has been a part one and a part two - is there likely to be more?
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes - I owe you a part 3 on the 12”x12” series! Stay tuned!
What an inspiration you are! These 3 are wonderful, as is and you did it in one session? Love watching you in "action" and your commentary is so helpful, as always. p.s. No one needs another white linen clad or lulu-compressed, airbrushed avatar to watch. Keep it real, Jackie.
Thank you, Ann! ❤️❤️❤️ Always keeping it real (even though I sometimes wish I painted in sequin gowns with my hair done by professionals 🤣🤣🤣)
fun and interesting to see your style translate from small to large and still be perfectly Jackie style! lovely colors! : D
Thank you ☺️
I really feel like your husband wants to be a guest on the Jackie show!
He didn’t realize I was recording until the very end 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for a great video Jackie. I love your honest and open approach. Can't wait to see where you take these. New sub. ☺
Thanks so much, Cathy! Welcome to the channel! ❤️❤️❤️
They're beautiful, I love your colors. The middle one was...in my eyes...balanced from an early stage on, just wonderful. Thank you Jackie!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
These are so fun and I love them❤ tfs
Thanks so much!
These are stunning!! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Love these
Thank you! ❤️
always love to see what you are up to!
Hey! Nice to hear from you! I hope you’re doing well! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the colour combo ❤
❤️❤️❤️
Love your pajamas & thank you for sharing your process!
So inspiring ❤
Thank you! Long live the PJs! 🤣🤣🤣
This is amazing! So fun and inspiring to watch your process💜
Yay! Thank you!! ❤️
I love your style and your videos, especially your calm voiceovers!
Thanks so much, Susan! I appreciate you watching! ❤️
Loved watching you work in this way. You can see your process better. And these turned out amazing❣️
Thank you so much! ❤️
i really enjoyed watching you paint these. i like all of them.
Thank you so much! ❤️
these are great!! you've inspired me to try it.
I'm so glad! Have fun with it!! ❤️❤️❤️
Loving these larger pieces. Cool to watch your progress.

Love it ...amasing ❤
Thank you! ❤️
Enjoyed this video, amazed by your work, and enjoy your talks. The colors are awesome together.
Thank you! ❤️
Loved the whole process ! Especially the honey I'm home kiss.
Haha! Me too! ❤️❤️❤️
New to your work. This was quite an enjoyable video to watch and listen to. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it - thank you for watching! ❤️
So beautiful....
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful! Loved seeing your process. I love to work in more pieces too.
Thank you so much! Wonderful! ❤️
Oh wow, this was great!!! Love all three pieces and the colors. Super nice ❤ Happy Sunday 🎉
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Good on you for just going for it. Looking good. Looking forward to part 2. 👏👏👏❤️
Thank you! ❤️
Jackie those are nice.
Thank you, Diane! ❤️
Fantástico 🤩
❤️
Great mom 😊
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
LOVE these and I’m so inspired! Love Quin gold too…..especially in my watercolors 😊. Btw, if I painted in anything but old clothes (Or PJs) I wouldn’t have anything left to wear outside the house, lol! Thank you for keeping things real and approachable.
Thank you! (And SAME - I have some paint somewhere on almost all of my casual clothes. If I wear anything nice I make myself stay away from the studio so it doesn’t share the same fate as all of my other clothes 🤣
Would love to see these in a gallery near me! You’re amazing!
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your process! Love your attitude about the details that hold us back. I get anxious about things that block my progress but I need to let go and just jump in. Might unwrap some canvas tonight and let your inspiration motivate me ❤ 😅 THANKS!! (These 3 pieces you did turned out lovely, BTW).
You are so welcome! Keep showing up to paint - I promise it gets easier (and you get better at it) the more often you attempt it. ❤️❤️❤️
That middle one looked like a water scene
Thanks so much for watching 🤗
TY!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Love these! Go big or go home!
❤️❤️❤️
In this case, I did both! 😆
❤
❤️
What a fun, creative journey, Jackie!!! When you are working on your art, do you prefer working in large or small scale more?
Both! Small is easy to store and quick to complete. Larger is free-er in movement, but takes at least a few sessions to complete. ❤️
Stellar color combinations…I love the combos and the black and white collaged elements! Hope to see more large projects-so beautiful! How long did it take to do these 3?
Thanks so much! I didn’t time myself but at least a few hours on both Friday and Saturday ❤️
Really enjoying the videos. I’m curious which white you are using.
Hi! I'm using titanium white from www.novacolorpaints.com ❤️
Love watching! I’d love to hear you talk about white space in your work. I always struggle with this. I do understand the concept but how do you decide where it will be and so forth. I just find myself saying why is she not doing anything on that spot and then I calm down haha and realize it’s supposed to stay white. I guess I’m spoiled that you explain all your other intentions and decisions as you go but you never seem to talk about that aspect. Would love to hear your advice and reasonings as you paint. Thanks very much!
Oh and I don’t get those people who paint with nice clothes.
🤣🤣🤣 They surely have better control over their paint than I do 🤣
Interesting observation. I haven’t gone out of my way to exclude a discussion about white space, I supposed I’ve just never thought much about it. I’ll have to think on this for a bit and see what I can say to explain my decision making ❤️
@@jackieschomburgart that would be great. You’re very good at explaining your process so I would love it if you did this. A lot of sis struggle with negative space/white space. Thank you.
I beg your pardon...but I believe it is formally called leisure wear!! It is the official Mom uniform! LOL
🤣🤣🤣
❤❤❤❤❤❤ thank youlove these . if you change would love to see final
Thank you! I haven’t changed them yet, but I’ll update you if I decide to!
@@jackieschomburgart ive reached america from Ethiopia now on Friday. and got my art supplies Sunday and yesterday.. this morning I have three 6 x 6 board canvas all laid out and I had my two year old granddaughter make marks on these with stabilo so I would for sure have abstract marks lol . and now I'm ready to begin I'm going to put on one of your videos and just enjoy the freedom
Love your work! What do you set up on your wall for painting and holding the panels? Thank you.
Thank you! I just put some nails in the wall lol
These look so good! What is that transparent paper you had the large scribble line on? Is that regular tracing paper?
Hi! Yes, just tracing paper 🤗
Really enjoyed watching this Jackie, thank you for sharing your process. One question, when you finish these what do you use to seal them? Thanks again
Thank you! I’ll definitely put a layer or two of my gloss medium or satin varnish across the entire painting when I’m done 🤗
Nice.....I want to go big and still dragging my feet. Maybe today I will try for real
You’ve got this! 💪🏼❤️
Beautiful! I just want to know what kind of black pen do you use ? Thank you so much for your video!
Hi! Thank you! It’s called a “china marker” or a grease pencil. These are the ones I use: www.amazon.com/dp/B00006IFGI/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_RCQEFQXQN1PH5Y6GHBKW?linkCode=ml2&tag=jschomburg-20
Jackie, I’m curious, would acrylic gesso work in the same way as medium for affixing collage? Love love LOVE your work!!! I’m transfixed
Thank you so much! I don’t think gesso would work well as a glue - you could certainly experiment with it, but I would be worried that the gesso wouldn’t fully seal the collage papers. The way I use the gloss medium, I seal it on both sides so it’s completely encased in the medium, which becomes an acrylic varnish of sorts. If we were talking about paint finishes, gesso would be a flat paint that wouldn’t repel water (at least I’d worry that it wouldn’t) and gloss medium is a high gloss paint that is easy to clean with soap and water.
Very interesting process. And I miss Portillo's so much for their Italian beef sandwiches! (i live in the northwest...they try to recreate them but fail miserably)
Thank you! So sorry about the lackluster Italian beef in the NW - if you’re ever in need of a treat, Portillos ships their beef and all the trimmings across the country 🤗❤️
yeah, I know they do. but I can't imagine they'd be as good as eating them in the Chicago suburbs..where I used to live!@@jackieschomburgart
I love these just a question about the wood panels
Did you seal them with anything before painting and do you just use paint and don’t thin with water ?
Love the x focal point and the eye does travel around the rest of the painting …. Fabulous. From Australia
Thank you! Usually I coat them in gloss medium or clear gesso (or both), but I was quite impatient with these. Instead, I mixed clear gesso with the paints so that I was gesso-ing while I painted. 🤗
So beautiful and interesting to watch! ❤ what is that white? It seems creamy and less opaque than Titanium White
It’s titanium white from nova color paints :)
Very helpful and so nice to watch. How many hours is this? How many breaks did you take? Thx.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. It took at least a few hours on Friday and Saturday - I didn’t time myself. I basically had one painting session on Friday and another on Saturday, so i did it in two chunks of time. ☺️
Is this just a wall in your home. Do u have anything on the walls and floor ?? I’d love to know,a perfect setup is everything
It’s one wall of my art room in our home. I nailed some plastic-backed canvas to the wall and it allows me to work on the wall for large paintings. In order to use this space, I have to shove the dresser (which is usually in front of the wall) over in front of my bookshelf. Everything has trade offs 😆 I’m thankful for my small little studio space ❤️
Loved watching you. What kind of panels are these?
I haven’t watched this in a while, but I’m pretty sure this is just my sketchbook 🤗
Are they wood panels you are painting on?
Nope - sketchbook :)
Like everyone else I really enjoyed watching you create these, and I love the colours. Question, Jackie: did you say the red is a Nova colour? I’m in the UK and don’t seem able to get them - what would you say is the closest. It really is lush!
Hi! Thank you so much! Yes, the red I’m using here is fluorescent red from nova color. Golden also has a fluorescent red that is wonderful too - try that one! ❤️
@@jackieschomburgart thank you Jackie, so good of you to advise - yes I can get the Golden here, such an irresistible colour…at least it is the way you use it!
@@JRJackman-qs8ph Wonderful - let me know how you like it!! ❤️
So many times I would say done...such awesome work. Why would you do more at this point?
Hi! I’m glad you like them ☺️ I’ll continue to work on them until they feel done to me. I like them now, but they don’t feel done quite yet ❤️
Gorgeous Styled Im a biginner so is very dificilt to foliw the speed.Any how thankYou for sharing.
You should be able to slow the video down on your end ❤️
I think they are great but where can I find the finished ones?
I haven’t worked on them since 😂 After living with them for a bit, I decided two of them are done 🤗 The third is still TBD, but I’ll keep you posted ❤️❤️❤️
