It's nice to see a young man taking car of great squarebody and not hacked it up. I strongly recommend oil coating the underneath to keep it from rusting. Keep up the good work. She's a keeper!

Great video, not sure how old you are. I’m 30 and have always been around old trucks. 71 gmc was my first. I have a 72 gmc, and couple square bodies. Good to see someone young enjoying these trucks. Doing a solid job of rebuilding and bringing one back to life, while maintaining the original feel that can’t be replicated in todays trucks.

i put those door panels from LMC in my 81 K20, the driver side Cracked at the top within a couple months, and the dash pad....fit..... but biggest problem was the defrost grilles would not stay in the holes. they kept popping out and had to run without them
Dang that sucks… I’m having the same problem with my defrost grills. I got the dash from a company called Dashes Direct and at first the holes were too small to fit the grills so I cut them out with a razor blade and now they don’t really fit that great. Aftermarket parts are not always fun but you’d think they’d make them fit better for such a popular body style of truck that everyone has
You should consider some Dyna-mat sound deadening on the floor and behind the seat while you had the seat in the floor out. It’s a little expensive but well worth it if you’re going to keep the truck.
I added some sound deadener before I put the carpet in off camera🤙🏻

The seat I actually got from a friend, but everything else besides the dash was from LMC.

Did you use the dash clips and dash kit when you installed the dash? Im in the process of redoing my 85k20 interior. You made the dash install look way too easy lol.

I had the drivers door panel crack on me since this video but LMC sent me a new one for free. Other than that everything is pretty good. Can’t say everything fits like original but it’s not bad

I have a 78 k10 Cheyenne that needs some major cosmetic work done to it. Know of any cheap websites that will restore/modernize it?
Restoring these trucks isn’t too cheap from what I’ve found sadly, and the cheaper parts most likely won’t fit as well as higher quality/OEM parts. Just do a little at a time
Door panels are the same for 1982-1987, those are a little different because that's the way LMC does them, I have not been able to find an exact replica for the base model trucks anywhere

I guess I'm having a hard time understanding how someone spends a grand or more at LMC and has no idea what showed up in the mail. I just hope we don't find most of those parts to be junk. I've been pretty disappointed with LMC in the past but ohwell. Im gonna watch anyway.
It was a while between buying the parts and actually installing them. “Having no idea” was a bit of an exaggeration but I definitely should’ve checked them when they arrived. Thanks for watching!
