I sat in on drums one night in Atlanta w/ the Eric Burdon Band & he asked me what I wanted to play. Without hesitation I screamed: "See See Rider!" It was great, & I soaked up every second. We played this exact original arrangement by the Animals, which was of course a hit record for them in the '60s! Scratch one off the bucket list, lol. Many versions by just about everybody down thru the years but this has always been my favorite and, I believe, best version of it. There's no doubt that ERIC BURDON OWNS THIS TUNE!!
You lucky dog. I met a lot of big stars like Jimi and Janis but I never met Eric and I always wanted to. He did a fantastic job on "Monterrey." That kicked it off.
Yes,overlooked but one of the most memorable for me also. I taped the song on a Sony reel to reel tape ...😵💫...from a tiny transistor radio.. as it was playing...😂...I was 11 or 12 ....so even though it must have sounded like crap, it was so energizing and powerful to me then ! 👌Still is 57 years later ! 🤩🤫
It wasn’t only Eric’s great voice that made him so wonderful! He always had a great charismatic connection with his audience. He made you feel like he was singing directly to you! Even Chas Chandler said that about him in an interview.
Hilton Valentine, the original lead guitarist for The Animals, passed away in Connecticut on January 29th, 2021. He was 77 years old... Between 1964 and 1983 the British band had nineteen records on Billboard's Top 100 chart, three made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "The House of The Rising Sun", for three weeks in August of 1964... Besides "The House of The Rising Sun", their other two Top 10 records were "See See Rider" at #10 for two weeks in October of 1966 and "San Franciscan Nights" at #9 for one week in September of 1967... The Animals were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994... May he R.I.P.
Only one thing I have to say! Eric, your VOICE is definitely a GIFT! No one sings like this at such an early age! I could listen to him forever and a day!!! ♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
I was 16 the first time I heard The Animals sing "House of the Rising Sun". The impression this music made on all of us kids who were immersed in all types of rock and roll was so powerful.. we finally had something that belonged to us and it wasn't our parent's music! It was a big deal. Thank you for sharing. Soundtrack of my youth 🎼 🖤
I grew up in San Diego CA. Many of those in my school (I was 15 when this came out) were all into the Beach Boys and pop music. My ears knew the difference.

ERIC...YOU ARE ONE OF THE ALL-TIME GREATS AND THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS YOU EVER DID WITH THE ANIMALS. STILL GREAT AFTER ALL OF THESE YEARS!!! LOVE, GEORGE/GUADALAJARA MEXICO.
I sure do miss the 70s, 80s and 90s. The music🎷 today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
Raw vicious and talented the animals Eric burdens vocals unbeatable no '60s band vocalists could match him diversity style originality.. the animals can could chew you up and spit you out... "SeeSee Rider" like their hit songs were off the chain
1967... Extraordinaire ! Eric est fabuleux sur ce morceau. C'est avec "See See Rider", édité en France par Barclay que j'ai commencé à adhérer à la musique de Burdon. En fait, tout est simplement génial...
The brilliant Eric Burdon and The Animals made it to No.10 in the USA back in October 1966 with a cover of the LaVern Baker classic, which was also done by Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels.
they got enough respect; people heard of them. Burdon probably had the best pure rock voice of the popular early 60s Brit bands. Better than the singers in the Beatles, Kinks and Yardbirds. You could make the case that his voice had more of the "it" factor than Jagger or Daltrey. Certainly their equal. Burdon was a troubled soul. Perhaps his antics contributed to the public not embracing him as much as the others.
Eric is one of a kind otstanding voice so much emotions and soul, love his voice so much. But the first group The orginal Animals is the best group ever for me, nothing aginst this group they were good but the orginal Animals has my heart
Much as I admired Eric Burdon, that old 'nobody comes close' chestnut is rather hard to prove, especially when the yankee version of this very song is sung by Mitch Ryder - who also had an exceptional and powerful voice. Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey, Steve Marriot and Jim Morrison, of his contemporaries, were also awesome singers.
The hall of fame doesn’t exist without Eric Burdon and the Animals.
