    The ref has had a bad day here, and in a critical match. Whitecaps clearly should have had a penalty. And yes, only an idiotic referee would not stop the match when he touches the ball. Very frustrating to watch such refs get away with this.

    Weird. To be honest the Caps lacked finish on their offensive play. But the ref erred by not at least going to VAR to confirm his assertion of a Caps penalty imo . Isn’t that mandatory in a playoff match?

    Reffing and Whitecaps play around the box were equally frustrating and basically trash.

    Good Job by the boys, but unfortunately it the same story, we get into the post season but come up short. We lack depth and quality to go past the first round. The squad needs more (1 or 2) Gauld quality, thats just facts.
    Addressing this game, They did good but not good enough. Also the Ref made massive decisions that just cant be made. The MLS need to address this asap.

    You cannot stop play because the referee has collided with a player. Vanni knows this and his comments are irresponsible at best. They lost because LAFC were better but rather than take accountability he blamed the ref.
    I hope MLS gives him a multiple match ban for his behavior and comments.

    • @anders4386
      @anders4386 Před 7 měsíci +2

      i think if you actually listen to vanni there’s nothing remotely ‘irresponsible’ about it - schopf was clearly obstructed, and high-level referees at least make an effort to move out of the way. i think his point regarding the penalty is spot-on, he’s just asking for consistency. it was a soft call, and so he should’ve given one to richie if that is the standard we’re employing. LA’s pen would’ve been laughed off the park in any respectable league and nothing here is an ad hominem (he even says he usually likes the ref’s style!). none of this negates the fact that the caps were poor in the final third, which vanni examines with considerable articulacy. have a nice day!

      @@anders4386 he said if Tim Ford were found floating face down in the river, the police would probably come looking for him.
      The ref cannot stop play for running into a player. There is no provision in the laws for that. It happens when sometimes when you are trying to be in good position. Of course he doesn’t try to do it…hardly a reason to rant like that. It was beyond unacceptable.
