- Well, have I got a good one for you today. This has to be one of the worst garden cleanups I've ever done on my channel. I actually posted an ad on Facebook for free cleanups and this was one of the places that came through. You are probably looking at the front and thinking that it's not that bad, but wait until you see the back section, it is absolute yard chaos. Just the amount of rubbish is insane and getting close to hoarder status. Ok, so the owner of this property suffers from some physical ailments and has previously had some other issues in her life and the yard, unfortunately, has suffered badly. This where I have stepped in to do a free yard restoration and help the homeowner get back on her feet. All up, I spent 14 hours on the front, with 4 trips to the landfill. I also separated anything useful and took it to the Recovery Shop to be recycled. I hope that you all enjoy the episode and see you all on the next one! This is part 1 of 3.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working. All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved.
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?

I visited a friend in another city recently and his place looked the same, front porch stuffed with boxes of things. Get inside there's only paths on the floor between stacks and stacks of things. He was a former engineer and would go to swap meets and get all kinds of cool stuff but then never have enough time or space to do anything with it.
Nicest guy and sill a good friend but man did he like to collect things.
Funny thing, his yard was always mowed front and back and the inside didn't smell, sinks, toilets all clean. He just liked cool stuff, I could feel for him, so do I but enough is enough at some point.
It's obvious that someone younger is also living there. Mooching, inasmuch as he/she isn't willing to help with yard maintenance. I shudder to think what the interior looks like!
I’m a bit disabled and my garden is my happy place. It has certainly never looked like this. I get the disability issues, but not the rubbish. There’s no excuse for that apart from some mental issues, which is so sad.

Hello George! Maaaaaate! At the start of this excellent video I began to feel so sad for this lady. Its more than evident that she doesnt have the support network of family, friends or community. That was until our garden hero found you! You certainly dont shirk from hard work George! If I was in Tas Id give you a hand...hope to visit someday. Already looking forward to the next with a much lighter heart knowing you're there for her. The aesthetic improvement is a huge part of her healing, but Im sure any 'shame' or stress about the state of her yard has also been lifted. Love what you do, and how you do it. ❤

Removing all of the Ivy from the front of the house, makes a big difference. Now natural light can enter the house and brighten it up. Great job, George.
It's crazy how much garbage was lying around. It's nice to see that they've taken care of it.

George does so much to improve ppty, but a painter he is not, oh, ok a rubbish removalist, a gardener, a fixer of fences, latches etc, bless him. George, well done on the first part, the "easy" part. From what I could see of the back yard, the next two parts are going to be brutal. I can totally understand long grass and overgrown shrubs, but all of the trash in people's yards actually makes me sick. If this woman has physical limitations, how did all of the junk get out there??? No, I don't really want to know. I hope you got a good rest before you tackled the rest of this cleanup.

Men are more likely to collect these things… like a trailer, and a cheap dog house, and have a vintage car.

Well, Roses require a lot of maintenance, so most people choose to remove them to lower future maintenance! Roses are great for people that love gardening and have lots of time to maintain them 🙂
